I agree. Hydra and Chimera should be DF.
You're argument is without base. My experience was in direct relation to FF11 which is what the other individual was talking about. I wish people would stop bringing up WoW for no reason. I couldn't care less about the game. I played it, got bored and quit. FF11 was a different story when it came to LFG. It had almost no solo content unless you geared for it with a BST or a NIN. WoW had solo content 2 different situations.
Spending needless time to make groups for Chimera and Hydra when Titan is in DF is what this thread is about, which is what my response was to. I suggest you stop trying to hijack the thread and make it into another pointless "BUT WOW DID THIS" thread.
Good lord people struggle with reading comprehension.
What a deliciously pompous and misguided post. "Durr, I wasted lots of time back in my day, THAT'S how it should be done! I have a 10 minute commute to work in a car, but I walk for an hour instead because DELAYED GRATIFICATION!" Gratification should come from the effort of a difficult act, not because you wasted hours of your life due to bad design decisions. I played FFXI too, at launch, before they made leveling super easy. The fun was being grouped with people and taking down hard monsters, not sitting in LFG for hours "just because." Now please, stop, you're embarrassing everyone that actually knows what they're talking about. You may not value your time at all because you have nothing else going on, but most people actually do.
I finally done Hydra, but that didnt make me feel better. That and Chimera was the worst experience i had on the game.
ANYWAY i still see people that killed Chimera with me shouting long hours on the chat looking or hydra groups.
I find it weird that Cape Westwind and HM Titan are in Duty Finder, but not Hydra and Dhorme Chimera.
Wasting time failing with an instanse to eventually success is good. Yelling LFG for 10 hours/day to one shot a boss is not. It does not make you a better gamer and makes some places in the game getting unbearable because you can not chat with anyone there because of constant "LFGLFGLFGfd fndxrvfgf derpaherpaderpderpderp" I despice LFG messenges more than adds for RMT, you know why? Because I can with good coinsense blacklist RMT shouters while I can not do so to LFG shouters as they HAVE to do so by game design...
I actually enjoy that there is no DF for these fights. I always see people shouting for it. So there is ALWAYS people looking for these fights. Take the time to form a group. Who knows maybe you'll meet some cool peps and you can run the HM primals with them and knock out the whole quest together. Once you get to AK, split PT in half and you have your AK pts. Stop asking for everything to be done for you and put time and effort into it. You'll feel better about it at the end and you'll come out with new friends. You'll also could have your Coil team set up at the same time too! Take advantage of what you're given instead of complaining!
People have become so custom to easy mode like Duty Finder, that it would seem from some of the posts in here they have forgotten how to form thier own groups o.0.
Compounding this issue is, if they add these two fights to Duty Finder, not only will people be crying a river about Titan, there will be ocean loads of salty tears about Chimera and Hydra being too hard......."OMG Voice of rams, one shot mechanic WTF!!&^!@*(@"
You simply can't have your cake and eat it too.
I have been joining random hydra pug shouts on my server... helping people out... lost count of how many hydras i have helped with...
why cant we have fights like hydra... but the mob actually drops something? like ffxi bcnm or ksnm... as an example... AK trash mobs... drop the seals... and then you use those seals... to enter the fight? get to work SE....
I have spent basically all of my weekend gaming time (about 12 hours) trying to get into a Chimera group this weekend, and have nothing to show for it except for my first AK run (that went pretty smoothly, actually... no drops, though). This is as a WHM with almost full WP (warlock's) armor, half DL - half crafted jewelry, GC weapon and WP shield.
Here is how it went down:
- pug attempt #0: had 5 people in group when the power in my house went out for 30 mins (sigh). When I logged back on, the group has dissolved. Not sure if they ever got enough people to try, even.
- pug attempts #1 and #2: trying to get people to do Chimera on Faerie during weekend early afternoon (Euro time) doesn't work, apparently. Most people we got was 4 after about 45 mins; tried again an hour or so later, same results. Groups dissolved.
- pug #1: After about an hour of group building (and some amusing banter), ended up with 1 paladin, 1 dragoon, no other reliable stun/silence, 3 healers (all whm, so no shields to protect us from 1-shots). ~4 wipes until people learned where to stand to avoid dragon's voice as well as the two conal AOEs, and 3-4 more wipes to ram's keeper combined with paralyze orb exploding in the clump as well as missed stuns on ram's voice (instant party wipe). Tank had to go, couldn't find another tank, group dissolved except for me and two DPS.
- pug attempt #3: we tried for 45 mins to get people, but nobody was interested. Ran AK instead (with a DF tank), got back and started looking for people again. About 30 mins and we got a full group - 2 bards, 1 tank (paladin).
- pug #2: First try went almost flawlessly (we were all at range this time, ate a few dragon voices, but recovered from them without major issues), got Chimera to 10% or so, then wiped to a non-interrupted ram's voice. Looked like we were going to get it done on second try -- except the monk went afk for 15+ mins and people were getting antsy. We just tried without the monk, wiped to ram's voice again. Removed monk, tried to find another DPS to fill the group, got NO bites (including people asking their FCs). Saw that there were 3 other Chimera groups asking for more people (specifically bards and paladins). Group dissolved again, everyone tried to get in the other groups.
- pug attempts #4 - infinity: I tried to get into those other groups. No luck, they were all looking for tanks (paladins especially), bards, and 'dps' in roughly that order. Looking at shout spam, there were at least 2 other healers spamming without luck, as well as one of the DPS I grouped with earlier (in pug #1/#2 and the AK run inbetween). I logged off for the night after one hour of this.
I'm obviously doing something wrong, but right now, I have this overwhelming urge to not bother.
having the fights off df makes you look for a fc, which is gonna help you at every point after those fights too
its a good thing in the end cos content only gets harder and playing with people on your own server is so beneficial
you've already finished the storyline, this is the 'bonus content', it doesn't have to follow the rules of the rest of the game, you adapt or you concede
I don't need to "look for a FC"; I have one. They are good people who have grouped with me for dungeons before. Thing is, the FC has 7 people in it, they typically play at other times than me (due to timezones), nor should I expect them to cater to my every whim -- am I going to yank someone out from an AK run just to help me form a Chimera group that will likely not have enough people for 45 minutes anyway?. As for linkshells: I have done a cursory search for endgame 'LFG-ish' linkshells on Faerie, and couldn't find any -- even if they exist, I'm sure some of the other PUG members in the attempts described above could've drawn upon them to fill the groups (which didn't happen).
I don't see why being frustrated together with a small number of people (see failed attempts to start Chimera pugs above) 'fosters community'.
As for this being bonus content, fair enough -- guess I just wanted to see the relic questline (and the associated encounters) before my sub ran out. /shrug
This is why you have freecompanies, if your having trouble organising hydra, chimera and your company is not doing its part, you should probally find another or make friends you'll play often with.
Just thought I'd chime in to this thread as I've been trying to get a Chimera group for some time. I've spent so many hours trying to get in a group that I've given up on it. I'll just DF a Garuda or Titan weapon and consider myself done.
Partly its due to the language barrier. JP people are rarely interested in grouping with non JP people when forming Chimera groups. I'll assume its the same for Hydra groups too. See the genius part behind the DF system is I have the ability to filter what language I would like to queue in and then go do other things in the game until the queue pops.
I have an FC with two friends. No I'm not interested in joining another FC just for a Chimera or Hydra because SE, in their infinite wisdom, thought it a stroke of genius not to add the two into the DF system.
For those thinking oh your just soft and that these quests for your weapon are meant to be hard. I agree with you, but the need to find your own groups for the process is a frustrating and pointless step.
As some have mentioned, many people have limitations on the time they can spend online so whatever precious time they have might be better spent on other parts of the game, rather than wasting it on finding groups for fights that should of always been in the DF system to begin with.
Agree with topic starter
I can relate, i have a very short amount of time i can get for playtime but i trully believe to do well in this game, you need to build relationships, no matter how small, people are always doing runs in the chat, get a free company that's helpful and your sorted, the reason why its in the chat because this has been the way of mmo's since the beginning and adding it to the duty finder would probally cause problems such as congestion.
Agree with OP,
I got a shout for Chimera and that was easy as hell. I was only stunning so basically it was the Ifrit fight all over again. We downed it first time. Now I'm on Hydra, shouts are few and far between ( I need to go as Tank ). I've seen a Vid of Hydra, looks easy.
No good reason both of these shouldnt be on DF. I should point out that this is an extension of current functionality, hater don't have to use DF to do these fights if the option was added.
And hey will keep shouting, loosing their time, etc. Your "form a group, split in two groups, get friends, etc" is so so so beatifull in theory. But you will see that its almost impossible to achiev that in game.
I see no one asking for things to be done by others. I you do, i guess you are pretty like others doing things for you. I just need a group and im not asking for a rush.
And your assumption that i dont look for people in my server is not valid, once what motiveted me to create this post is that i really spent days looking for people to do the duty.
Yes you need relationship everywhere. But say me bro, what kind of relationship is expected when you form a group that people keep dyieng on basic abilities, etc? I dont care for this but most people get upset. So believe, the best way to create relationships is not failing on a Duty that everyone want too much to win.
For relationships, i suggest putting this "barrier" og forming a group in an easier fight that is early in the game, lower levels. At this point of the game no one will be really expected to be a pro.
For the "genious" that think i did not look for ppl, didnt try anything to make the group by my own, that im just complaining, you may take a look on what Naoki Yoshida himself (PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR of the game) says about grouping and duty finder:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/system/game_system/
Im stuck on Titan now, BUT im REALLY really happy that i can at last fight the boss even if thats more dificulty because many people join that undergeared. I dont care if that will take 1000 tries, im just satisfied by fighting him. And dont think that self made groups are much better than the ones duty finder gives you, people fail anywhere anytime and thats normal.
For those doing shouts and playing in a Japanese server, if you are not using auto-translate in your LFG/LFP shouts, please do try. I know some/many JP gamers are wary partying with foreign gamers but for those who can understand some English and are considerate, they are sometimes willing to let you join their hydra/chimera party.
My only pet peeve with auto-translate though, some of the terms I want, I can't find. Like Hydra and Dhorme Chimera and even the term stun which I sometimes need to tell the tank during ifrit hm! Anyway, if you see this on your shoutbox ドルムキマイラ, it is literally read as dorumukimaira and it means dhorme chimera. If you see ハイドラ, it is literally read as haidora which of course refers to hydra.
Hope that is of help to some of you.
