pretty much this however I wished it was different and somehow more awesome that I wanted to play 24/7 not say fuck it and wait til November and resub for a month :(

Lol it was more of a joke than actually stereotyping. People are so sensitive lol. The point was the point people that play that much are going to get bored no matter what. I go at a pretty reasonable pace and have one 50 and a few 30's and some crafting close to 50. There is still a ton to do, I can continue banging my head on Titan and move on to Coil, I can keep leveling alt jobs, crafting. If my entire life is playing this game to get to and finish end game 20 hours a day, I will get bored. I somewhat agree there is not a lot of endgame content mostly grinding dungeons/HM primals to get to coil, and it does get old fast. That is why you can go do other things when you get bored, rushing will just get you burnt out.
I can't get over the "enjoy the scenery" comments.
You know theres a problem when one of the leading defenses you see for the game is how fun it is to look at the trees.
I am enjoying this game, and I don't play 10 hours a day.
I'm just remembering the TRUE FACTS that this is an MMO, and if enough people leave, the game suffers.
My 15 a month alone wont keep this game going.
I saw the same "lol rushing content" blah blah arguments on the secret world, SWTOR, Warhammer online and more, and those games all ended up falling off after 2-3 months.
Feel free to bash me or insult me, but if the game dies it is dead, and according to Yoshi, they wont even do F2P. So... If enough people leave I guess I just dont get to play FF14 anymore.
I like how when people post an opinion on the internet, and it doesn't coincide with your own, you somehow treat it as an attack on your personal self and then reply accordingly with "wit" or sarcasm.
On topic: I like the game so far. Though I am tired of AK and Castrum runs, so very tired. And class mechanics seem like they stayed in beta. Let's see how things go in the future.
Mistakes, in number form just for you xox
1. You're judging this game based on the Forums.. what game has a mature and respect forum community? none.
2. You don't know what you're complaining about.. Have you finished Coil? no? LOLZ THERE'S NO END-GAME GUYZ
3. See point 1. and 2.
If FF14 fails, then we all move on to something else. There is always another way to spend 15 bucks. lol
why go by the forums? all the complaint threads you see are the vocal minority
This isn't the first mmo where people said "people are too busy playing the game to look at the forums".
That is a fallacy. The majority of people who arent happy with the game wont bother to post on the forums. They will just leave.
All of these arguments about people playing too much, the game being new, the scenery, not leveling alts, these arguments are on every new MMOs forums from the people who are delusional and want to believe the game is perfect.
I love this game and want it to succeed. Thats why I want to see it improve, rather than be defended by people who fail to acknowledge the problem until it's too late.
Kinda funny how many haters have 1 lvl 50, let's look at the facts, you have spammed AK and CM to get Darklight, beaten all primals at least once for relic, and that seems to be about it, why don't you do what you're supposed to do in games, have fun, if you're tired of CM and AK, go to coil, think outside the box, find a group for the other dungeons, Wanderer's palace, Cutter's Cry, Aurum Vale and all the other ones (admittedly most not lvl 50) that people ignore because you can't "get uber gearz from" or hell even just level some more classes, have a go at crafting or gathering, try to experience more than 1% of the game before you start complaining there's no content.
Thing is, you're much more likely to get a person creating a thread about why they hate the game than you are to get one about why someone loves the game. Why? No idea. Maybe because it would be a pointless thread which is better served as a blog since most threads aren't even open for a discussion after OP post.
We have people telling others that they are wrong and are lying that they like the game and can see themselves playing it for years. I didn't start posting on here until recently and I have to say that it's a cesspit, but it hasn't taken any enjoyment away from the actual game. When you're actually in game you don't hear /sh "omg this game is so boring! It copies x,y and z!". If there were those /sh then the community at large would probably just ignore/blist them.
tl;dr
The forums aren't necessarily an indication of the health of a game. It's such a small pool to pick from.
I guess I messed up when I started playing the game... I was too busy enjoying it, I didn't realize we were supposed to rush through the game and then whine and cry about not having anything to do... I was under the impression that we were supposed to relax enjoy the game and then by time we get to the end then they would be releasing further content to keep my experience going...
Most people here complaining never played WoW Vanilla. It was horrible back in the days on release. Low content, Massive bugs, lags and way more. Look what it is now. MMO take years to polish
This is pretty much the impression I'm getting from the OP of this thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8h0_BL-dAgY
There are a lot of people ITT still claiming the game would pull the plug before going f2p.
Your information is a little outdated.Quote:
"We stuck with subscriptions because we wanted a stable amount of money to pay developers to develop patches on time. We didn't want to get into a situation where we couldn't afford to make a patch," he continued. "As a producer, I of course will be watching how the money flows and will evaluate the situation. If we had to change to a free to play model, we would probably offer a hybrid model with free to play servers and subscriptions servers, but it's not something we have planned right now."

technically FFXIV has been around since 2010 :o
Please tell me how to down Twintania. Since there is no content left you cleared Coil right?
Also, you couldn't enjoy the scenery in FFXIV 1.0...now you can.
FFXIV 1.0 Scenery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA7GGnyNwEs
You know nothing about me yet assume things and then slap a label on me. Good stuff, old chap!
I did all those instances you suggested to GEAR up to 'progress' many many MANY times. Most them do not give gear or loot and ones that do are trumped by AK.
You think I rushed?!!! I read every single quest line and watched every single cut scene and only ground fates when I absolutely had to.
And playing that "you only have one 50" card is baloney. I AM NOT AN ALT PERSON. I found my love which is WHM and will play it until I absolutely have to make another class and I will tell you why: the fate grind which is only way to level up another class SUCKS. Also this might suprise you, but some people prefer to play one class or character and become the best they can at it. Not jump around between classes stealing loot from players who prefer a single main.
SWToR tried that ploy of saying 'make alts to pass the time' well sir, people quit in droves when that happened. Shall we repeat that here?
Now all the excuses you and all the others use has been repeated in every single failed MMO I have ever played.
All I am saying is that having a single TRUE 50 instance and raid on launch is kind of cheap. I heard this "oh wait X months for X patch" to save the day more than I can count now....every single time it's never come so call me skeptical.
Lastly, would love to try the coil but then again I burnt out BIG time after 7+ years of that in one game and 1 year in another so I am a bit hesitant of going back to high stress raiding where people demean others and yell at each other at the top of their lungs. If there was like 5+ reg 4 manners with HMs on launch, I would not be here being bored trying to defend myself.
There's a fault with this.
All jokes aside, game developers are professionals. Your post there is like someone complaining about average mpg of today's cars and you replying "I'd like to see you build a car.". That's not on them to build a car, they purchased one from professionals who work at this all day long for years.
Sorry, Fate grinding is the worst thing I've experienced in an MMO. Party grinding and Quest grinding (save for TERA's which hit a new low) are better than fates. At 50 cap there's soooo shockingly little to do. You can blame me for hitting 50 quickly, but MMO companies know there are players that will. They don't want to dilly dally on random jobs, they knew what job they'd be playing before they installed the game and they want to hit level cap.
Since this can't be shocking news to anyone who considers themselves part of the gaming industry, they need to properly brace for that.
Technically one day we will all die, so life is pointless.
FF11 even at the start didn't end, regardless of how much you play, I did not play vanilla WoW but I heard it was basically the same, regardless if you agree with it, endgame needs to be focused around hardcores considering we are the ones doing it, the rest just wait for nerfs so they can pick up the scraps and pray to god LS's release guides for them to use then later bash those same people.
I play 5 hrs a day and haven't even got a 50 yet. Some people actually like to enjoy the game instead of racing through all the content without even experiencing it.
WoW, SWToR, Rift, GW2, etc all had PvP at launch either free form open world and or instanced/objective based venues at launch so that kept me going when PvE became a boring, repetitious slog. There is no PvP here and what's coming to 2.1 looks to be nothing more than a 4v4 wow arena which does not appeal to me in the least. If there was AV, Warsong Gulch, Huttball, etc right now...I'd be doing that right now to pass the time. After running AK 100+ times, it's getting the point I dread logging in. That is not a good sign after 1 month if you ask me. I mean there isn't even any dedicated lvl 50 only zones here either so open world is lacking as well. I pray 2.1 is all that other wise I will more than likely drop my sub. No big deal if many others do the same thing, right?
All I can say is SE needs to do something major in the next few patches or this game will follow ToR's footsteps down the drain. It will not be as quick but it will none the less. The game is way too casual, has 0 time sinks, and can be spammed through. While the very causal might like this it is an unsustainable model to use in a mmo. Even on new servers people are at endgame along side the legacy people.
Endgame currently has about 1/10 of what it needs. Content is too spammy, content has horrific lockouts, gear drops to fast, and there is no long term content. People can say no one beat coil.. we got a group to turn 5 in 2hrs 40mins.... and it is a week reset that is poor on SE's part to design content like that without anything else. Lock outs are fine, but if you can get through a week lockout in 2-4hrs after it is on farm status... you need 5-6 of those kinds of events min. Now they have more coming but combine that with the fact the game is hyper linear and the plan is to constantly negate content I do not see how they can make enough fast enough using the current model.
If people run out of content they will quit... despite what people say SE needs to design the game for the 50hr a week ppl... that way NO ONE runs out of content. Not the casuals not the hardcores.
Other main issue is the economy is non-existant, it needs a 100% overhaul. Both crafting and Gathering, are almost pointless. You can make more money spamming pretorium speedruns and selling Coke and Pot then you can crafting or gathering and that should never happen since those 2 class types are suppose to be the pillars of the economy.
P2P games fail because people will not pay to be bored or wait for more content. Now I want this game to survive, I put in insain hours in and out of game organizing my guild and spaming guild events, close to 60hrs a week. But this game really worries me now. The devs refused to listen to any request of the hardcores in alpha/beta.... And I feel the game is suffering because of it, casual content is good, casual content only is unsustainable in a mmo. If you play more then 15hrs a week at endgame currently... you will run out of things to do once you learn the content and stop dying alot.
The crazy level 5 naked monk run from Qeynos to Freeport so you could work on the ashen hand quests as well. Die, run back to your corpse. It was exhilarating,. The Evil Ambassador D'vnn :) Camping spiders in Ro, Sitting around a campfire Just talking, as you all healed up. Camping Lord Bergurgle for 179 place sitters on a 15 minute spawn underwater heh.
It isn't the fault of the game dev's in a way it's because the games were too successful. People thought that we can make it better. We forgot to ask ourselves, what is Better?
I think we need a different, carrot for a new age stick.
Might want to spend more time playing the game and less in the forums. You're level 38, you haven't even reached content to complain about a lack there of.
Here is what end game is right now; 4 lv. 50 DF dungeons, 3 HM Primal fights, 1 8-man raid that has 5 different sections (I might add nobody has beating yet).
Here is what we know of coming in 2.1; 2 Lv. 50 HM Dungeons, 1 Lv.50 dungeon, 1 HM Primal fight, 3 EX Primal Fight, 1 24-man raid, PvP, Beastmen Dailies.
Looks like a lot of content for that 15 a month I pay.
I just want to put this out there, because I'm not sure how many of you guys played 1.0, and actually followed it, or are new to 14 with ARR. A lot of the things you(and this is a general "you") are complaining about (time sinks, gill sinks, not being hard core enough, etc,): you are describing 1.0 almost to a T.I'm not saying what 1.0 had was perfect, because if it was "perfect" we wouldn't have ARR. But SE tried sooo many different things, they did the things a lot of you think you want, AND IT FAILED HORRIBLY. It only started getting better after Yoshi took over and they changed the entire design scope of the game.
You know what SE did throughout 1.0s lifespan? They had Player Polls, where players could vote for what they want changed the most, what they want to see added, and so on. They did a couple of them. And boy, did people vote. And guess what? SE is SPOT ON following those polls and what the players voted for.
Here is a link to the first poll, which also happens to be Yoshi's first Letter from the Producer. http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=46e03f76722239ffa01960aba398e4034b898102
Here are the results of another Player Poll, Analyzed in 2 Posts from Yoshi: Part 1: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/46535-Letter-from-the-Producer-XXVIII-%2805-28-2012%29
Part 2: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/46936-Letter-from-the-Producer-XXIX-%2806-04-2012%29
Note: I can't find results for the second players poll, Letters from the Producer forum only starts at the 6th letter.
I want you guys who are complaining to read those Letters, and read what the player base voted for. Again, I'm not saying you want 1.0 back, but a lot of what you want, was deliberately changed from 1.0 for ARR, or not what people voted. When they built ARR, they built it off of what the 1.0 player base wanted. And I agree, the game has faults. It's unfortunate Crystal Tower got pushed back, as I think that would have alleviated some of the stress a lot of you are feeling at end game right now. But This Team, has done SOOO much in the little time given them, and they have so much in the works, that you can't say it's going to fail for "this reason" or "that reason".
People say it will fail because the game isn't focused on PvP. Well no kidding, no one really wanted PvP in their PvE MMORPG. It was voted as something that would be nice, but not essential to the game, and if it was in, not a big focus. 2.9% of people who voted wanted pvp. 3 PERCENT! And people complained about how crafting/gathering were simplified, LOOK AT THE RESULTS! 50% of the player base were undecided on if they liked those aspects of the game. That's a huge chunk of people who probably don't want to do it to much, if at all.
So all of you people bashing the game for some of its "shortcomings", take a look at those polls. And then tell me SE isn't trying their hardest to do what WE wanted them to do.
Only 2 of those dungeons can be considered lvl 50 and one of them which is WP can be entirely skipped since you can get better gear in AK and or via speed runs of that instance or CM/Prae.
CM/Prae drop zero loot and nothing more than 'speed' runs to get philo for DL gear which I might add only takes about a week to accumulate for a full set. It is odd though that DL is better than WP/AK drops which seems backwards...token gear should what that gets you by until what you really needs drops...instead it is the best until mythos/coil gear and imo far to quick to earn. Going the route I just listed gives meaning to dungeon runs rather than try to speed past it as fast as possible just to get tokens.
The three primals are just weapon farms all in all and once you get what you need there is zero point going back. All those encounters take less than 10 minutes and really isn't all that much content when it comes right down to.
And then there's Coil which is tuned for a full 8 man crew decked in top gears/relics and requires extreme coordination/skill of all party members; this is not content aimed at the masses, it is aimed at the top 1%. Already it was officially stated that they are betting only about a 100 people will have this on farm by 2.1. This is called exclusive elite content which leaves the rest of the players 'not good enough' to muck about doing the same limited things for months on end. Basically, this game has a large gap where stuff are obviously missing....crystal keep is supposed to be the stepping stone to Coil but it will not make it into the game for quite some time by the looks of things. How can any modern day MMO only launch with a single level cap small group dungeon anyways? Yikes!
Any rate, there is nothing I can really do about it other than voice my concerns. Many of us has heard the excuse 'just wait for later patches, it will improve!". While on one hand that might happen and I sincerely hope it does but first impressions are lasting and has result in the demise of far to many MMOs. People are not wide eyed and so easily swayed these days due to countless MMO flops over the years where the devs (and fans) make the exact same excuses every time.
I do hope 2.1 is the jesus patch. I really really do. Despite it all, I still like the game and wish to see it succeed but as of now I have nothing really to do other than farm to mythos cap and then go play something else....this is not what a MMO should be like imo. The quality (and quantity) of end game is a make or break component for the longevity of all MMOs; I don't think anyone can deny that? Can they?
Honestly, these forums really aren't something to go by.Quote:
If these forums are anything to go by,
I have never had any issues with customer service, nor have I ever met a "wrongful" suspension.Quote:
the customer service treatment has been despicable and they actually make Comcast look like a walk in the park.
The only questionable thing I've seen since the launch is the suspensions for having lots of gil on nonlegacy servers, but even then, as longa s legit players aren't getting a full ban, I feel that it had an impact on RMT- if you do see an RMT shout, the prices they've been shouting about have skyrocketed from single digit dollars to tens, even hundreds of dollars for the same amount of gil- a message that indicates a lot of RMT gil banks have bit the dust.
any time that I have approached customer service in a civil, respectful manner, I have never been wronged by them. The worst thing they've ever done to me is make me wait longer than I should really have to- but it's something i can tolerate if the wait is rewarded with issue resolution.
That's the problem right there. Moderns MMOs from the ground up really aren't designed to last. Everything is designed to give near instant gratification. You level quickly. You get items quickly. You're done quickly.
There's a fundamental flaw in MMOs. There's basically no way to keep people interested long enough until new content is out. They can make the game all instant gratification-ey like almost all the modern MMOs but then people beat it fast and quit. Or they could make things slow and grindy like old school MMOs but then people quit before they beat it. There's probably a middle ground in there but it doesn't seem like any MMO can find it.
Ok, sorry for being totally off-topic, but how come so many people write "could of" instead of "could've" or could have ??
Sorry again
I'll assume this dungeon is easier than AK and drops gear that could be very useful for clearing AK. So instead of building steadily your gear, you suggest to go for the best and skip content. You can't complain for the lack of content if you pursposely skip some of it.
I have such a hard time understanding why ppl who so openly dislike a game would hang out in forums of said game just to complain about it as oppose to moving on to another game. If you're not a fan of the game then why do you care if it fails or goes F2P. Apperantly you won't be here either way. If you are going to leave then leave and allow those of us that do enjoy the game to play in a peaceful and blissful ignorance until our game's demise.
Yup that OOO SHINY effect has worn off for most players then they realized how mediocre this game really is.
