You're wrong, the servers can handle more people than they are limiting right now. Duty Finder was the bottleneck when that limit wasn't there, I was experiencing barely any lag, it was just rare occasions (and I'm from EU playing on NA server).

Wrong, huh?

The Reasoning behind Login Restrictions
Each FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn World server has been designed to support a maximum of 5,000 concurrent connections. This is not the maximum number of characters which can be created on a World, however, but the maximum number of characters which can be logged into that World simultaneously. When more than 5,000 characters log into a World at once, there is a higher risk of server crashes and login errors. The restoration of crashed servers is usually followed by a rush of players attempting to log back in, which, in turn, puts a strain on our lobby server, and can ultimately have an adverse affect on all of the Worlds.

/sigh seriously OP? your complaining saying something isnt gonna work and they havent even done it yet? whats with people these days? Seriously you need to chill out and just wait for the maintenance then make your little judgements after its done and if it isnt fix. Stop jumping the gun assuming it wont work before they have even done anything yet cause you dont know that it wont work
What everyone here fails to mention, login queues. It's so freaking simple, apply a login queue and most frustrations will be gone.
I don't mind being in a 10k queue, at least I know it's going somewhere, what I do mind is having to spam the login button over and over again and getting some bogus 'world full' message every time.
There is a queue, it just only supports a number of people just like servers. If it is currently at that number it just kicks you out with an error.
I suspect this is to prevent it from crashing as well.Quote:

I was actually wondering this myself, as I've read so many different posts the information was all starting to meld together, and I wasn't sure what the maintenance was exactly going to do.
Now just gotta be patient til 8pm tomorrow night to see if I can play (for us here in Aus anyway)

Just sayin'Quote:
increasing the number of concurrent logins allowed for each server
They need to implement an AFK auto disconnect. Been trying to log on since 8am on the east coast. I'm about 150% sure about 3,000-3,500 of the people currently on the server causing this are sleeping or on their way to work/school right now.
