AOE issues preventing me from beating titan.

theres a reason all other major MMO's host EU servers in Germany.... cause its slap bang in the middle of the EU so latency is generally best for everyone.

bassicaly it sucks but you have to get out of the AOE about 1-1.5 second before it actually hits or your going to die

Which "all other major MMOs" are in Germany? WOW's EU servers are largely in France for example though there are several server farms I believe, you get don't more 'major' than WOW. LOTOR when it was hosted in Europe was in England, not Germany. No idea where GW2 and Rift farms are, not aware either are in Germany though.

Playing on servers in the US in WOW, Rift and LOTRO is perfectly fine with 'ping' times of 150 or so as is XIV as far as I have seen so far .. "1-1.5 seconds" is not down to normal internet latency.

I have the same issues with AoE, it's up and down, sometimes it seems absolutely fine but at the worst of times I have to be constantly moving or I'm going to get hit.

it is absolutely never fine for me tbh ... either i move instantly or i die. period. even when im standing outside the aoe i get damage. it sucks.

could be some weirdness with your Windows TCP parameters. www.speedguide.net covers a lot of tweaking you can do that can resolve some latency issues in specific cases. Here's a link to some specific ones for Vista and forward that may help a little, may be worth a read in general:

I've been re-downloading the game at a steady 0.77MB/s. I went through your link editing the values to what they recommend and now it's a steady 0.82MB/s, I don't know if it's pure coincidence and just normal fluctuation or if it's because of that link but anyway, thanks.

Not only an issue for EU, I have a problem as a US player too. I generally start moving when I think a ground effect is going to happen on a boss. If I'm not already moving when the circles come down I get hit 95% of the time. I have no latency issues in any other games.

Well its reassuring to know I'm not the only one suffering from this.

I've had a lot of experience healing in various other mmo's so I pride myself on not being one of those players who puts 100% into the party, plays his class properly, and doesn't get shouted at. So having all of these people shouting at me for not avoiding AOE attacks, is really bothersome for lack of a better term.

I did Titan yesterday, then Sunken Temple. Having the exact same issues. I've played lots of other MMO's and am used to moving out of stuff. I just can't do it on FFXIV. - From Australia. If there is no fix to this I won't be subscribing. Its frustrating.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I understand the frustration. In 1.0, I had a lot of issues with this due to being far away from the Japanese servers. This is why I chose an NA server in 2.0, which is a lot closer to my house. Unfortunately, the Duty Finder has been under A LOT of stress lately, which has made it extremely buggy and laggy. This may be why you are getting hit by AoEs even though you move immediately. I experienced the same issue yesterday on a higher level dungeon and it can be VERY frustrating. I have my fingers crossed that this maintenance on Wednesday will fix this problem and make the Duty Finder less laggy. (You will notice that some times are more laggy than others.)

If you can't avoid Titan's straight-forward hit, here is my suggestion. My party was lagging a lot during this fight too. Have your tank pull him toward the edge of the wall. As long as the tank keeps hate, he will not risk getting hit off the ledge because Titan will target other party members for this move. Stand close to his butt and watch him. The second you see him start to turn (before he even throws out the marking on the ground), start to move. Run diagonally toward him, but away from the stream. If you DO manage to get hit, you will get thrown back, but you won't fall off the edge because the edge is on the opposite side of the room. This will put more pressure on the healer but it's better than falling down, right?
