Except it won't be out by then. People can say things all they want.
What we're missing:
- How will materia work? What are the changes? What is the extent to 1:1 that makes melded gear not as potent as it is in 1.0?
- What exactly is the Quest Progression system like? Is it the common copy/pasted 100x over quest system? Or will it actually flow like a Final Fantasy game?
- How are Grand Companies changing?
- If leveling dungeons are instanced, what is the "public" dungeon system like?
- How will SMN work exactly?
- If Titan is already premade but held off, what changes were done to it? What was the original design?
- How will 24 man content work? What type of content is envisioned for alliances?
Basic stuff that we usually get "wait and see!" and "we have something in mind!" and "you'll find out" - No, SE -- No, we need basic information. We're not asking for every single detail, we're asking for stuff every other company has no problems telling us even prior to testing -- while it is true a lot of things may not be developed, you have the ideas and the concepts already thought out, why not tell us? This is how you hype people, not holding out on basic stuff -- A person interested in XIV only had the Lodestone and these forums to go off of for information about ARR and a lot of that info may not even be 1% accurate in ARR.
We got information, but not a lot of information about the actual game.
Well, personally I'd argue that your list is mainly details and not basic information (not the whole thing, but most). And some of that stuff we shouldn't even know. E.g. info about SMN as we still have no idea when it will be out. If you want Arcanist info then that's another story, but I'd still say we know the basics already and the rest should be revealed when you play. Or Titan info - what do you want to know? It's not like they revealed ton of stuff about other primals prior to releasing them. Heck, why would you release any details about battle content aside of stuff like required levels or lockouts.
Also, almost none of the stuff you mentioned will interest a non-playing person wanting to start XIV. I find it weird when people complain we don't get enough details about stuff and use that argument, since new people don't even have an idea what you're talking about.
There was no flood and compared to many other games there was a major lack of information, even now we're still missing.
We have no proper gameplay videos that pretty much all MMOs would have by now, heck GW2 had full HD gameplay videos 2 years before its release, we only have trailers with the very generic 720p producer letter.
There is so much we still don't know and the "most" information you will get is from interviews, of which there are lot and lots of repetitive material, gamescom was practically "lets talk about our three pillars" "see we got these pillars, 3 of um". was very frustrating. Then you saw a Japanese interview and it made you sad how much translation slows things down (unavoidable).
While there is no flood or lots of information, word is getting out and gaming sites cover it, unfortunately what they get to cover is very limited and practically scouring for information.
Flood was a lie. And i think ARR is just not ready enough that is why we have nearly nothing of it. Lots of things a typical eastern publisher would of bragged about by now.

die-hard also die·hard (dhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/imacr.gifhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.gifhärdhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/lprime.gif)adj. Stubbornly resisting change or clinging to a seemingly hopeless or outdated cause.
This has to be the most accurate thing I've ever read on this forum. Thank you for your honesty.
Whilst I agree that we have been let down (as a result of our own interpretations of a flood) I do feel that even if we were to receive some information it wouldn't mean anything to people not playing the game.
Righ'ton, sister!
Let me play with your sentence - How can we expect a flood of information to appeal to buyers if they don't understand what it's related to and have no physical presence in the game to relate it to.
I think the trailers we're constantly getting is the best they can do in regards to that market however giving us this (I wish I had the .gif :() is unacceptable

What i get from the last interviews.. they delayed the 'real flood' nearer to the release, to not generate hype too early. I think.
It is details on basic elements that we should know. SE says: "This, that, this, that and this will be changing" and they leave it at that -- you can't realistically do that especially if it's regarding something from the current version that is changing.
Asking for SMN details is basically asking how it will work -- the way a class/job works shouldn't really be a grand mystery since we even learned how SMN will play out before it released in XI. Primal wise, we never got Titan or Leviathan, but they say it's basically completed and since 1.0 is going off and ARR is different from 1.0, what was the previous fight designed like? What is Titans connection with all of the events? That is previous content that was being held out for 2.0, normally players looking for a new MMORPG will get that kind of information on the website -- therein lies the issue, the website they have to learn from is http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.html, which could as stated be nowhere near accurate come ARR.
At this point, if ARR is supposedly right around the corner, shouldn't the main website reflect even a fraction of the lodestone by now? All you get on it is basic information.
Why do you think official websites exist? Surely not only for players who are currently playing.
