Brainstorming DPS rotation changes for healers

Because I want to heal, but on the off chance there's nothing that needs healing, as it is now I'm stuck pressing my 1 key over and over until I fall asleep.

This happens very often, because all it takes are tanks and DPS that know the mechanics.

Or even not. Bosses like Gurfurlur in Worqor Zormor have so many drawn out AOE telegraphs that you're waiting a good 20 seconds between anything that isn't an autoattack from the boss.

Instead of making Healers DPS...... why not give them more buff actions they can apply to other teammates or the party in general, keep with the theme of healing and regeneration?

Tanks have DPS rotations too, yet they aren't DPS. With big APM at that.
It doesn't have to be rocket science, but pressing broil 95% of the time isnt fun at all. More exactly, if healer damage is required in savage, it should be more engaging than one button spam.

This would work too, but risks blurring the line between jobs. WHM and SGE are the 'greedy' healers with a lot of pure healing/shield abilities, while SGE and AST are the 'buff' healers that have more abilities that benefit the party. Giving everyone more buffs would be nice, but kind of muddies the water even further in a role that is already muddier than a tar pit.

Do you support stripping tanks down to just Royal Authority/Storm's Path/Souleater/Solid Barrel, Prominence/Mythril Tempest/Stalwart Soul/Demon Slaughter, and Circle of Scorn/Orogeny/Salted Earth/Bow Shock?

What tf is this infestation of wow healers on the first page. BuT I oNlY wAnT tO hEaL... No, you want to be lazy because anything less than savage would be 1111 spam no matter what. Please educate yourselves on the subject.

Heck, even wow has healers do dps now.

On the subject of the topic, proc based gameplay is a good solution to keep you on your toes. See pvp sage.

Healers in ffxiv ARE GREEN DPS, period. If you want to play a pure healer, go somewhere else. I don't know where exactly because games are progressively doing away with this garb relic of a system that is the trinity.

Even this game is forgoing the trinity progressively, with everyone having more heals and support. But healers are still left in a ditch.

More healing why not, but it won't work in anything less than savage. And it has been tried multiple times, and failed spectacularly, by going the exact opposite way.

Besides, it'd be the exact same as right now in any casual content, 11111 spam, because well, it's casual/easy for a reason. So it wouldn't change anything for a large part of the game.

The logical next steps are doing like what they do with other roles. They get heals, so conversely healers should get more offensive variety. The ways to do that have been discussed countless times.
