Request: Devs, can we have an alternative way to get the Disciple of the Land hats?

You don't have to be a DoH/L to get a relic, it just makes it a lot easier because you need A LOT of money to get them. We just want to gather to get our items, not run around grabbing potions. It almost makes me wish they hadn't come out with HD, or at least made it DoW/M only for the battle phase.

At first I also thought that maybe there were particular conditions to get the hats, but in the end I realized it was just random like any other type of Militia equipment... except these hats are like 1% drop rate.


Anyway, yes, I always considered these hats like “AF”, although it was never officially stated. After all, they are the first unique armor for Disciples of the Land, and that very nice Botanist's artwork shown at E3, with the Hamlet Cutter's Hat as part of the armor set, confirmed me that it can be really considered like AF.
But for some reason, we got them as a random reward from a content that most of the adventurers dislike rather than make us obtain them in a good and satisfactory way...

It wouldn't make any sense if in 2.0 we'll be able to get the Gatherer's remaining armors in a proper way, with quest and difficult Achievements, but the hat piece remains a random thing in Hamlet Defense, so I hope they'll consider our requests of an alternative way to let us truly earn those hats.

Not to be the debbie downer, but the trend they're doing is obvious, keeping drop rates extremely low and keeping it all group based.

It's all busy work until 2.0, we still have like 3 months until 2.0 hits and the LONGER it takes someone to obtain something, the better.

Might as well keep everyone doing hamlets (relic AF, crafter gear, gathering gear, anima) so that there is an incentive for everyone to constantly have something to do.

It's intentional in it's design. If you could go off and do something solo then why in gods name would any crafter or gatherer bother with hamlet?

Crafters and gatherers are requested for Hamlet Defense for the static setup to get the 60.000+ points chest. But that's another matter.
Here we're talking about giving the first ever released Class-specific armors as a random reward with ridicolously low drop rate rather than allow us Disciples of the Land to truly earn it like the Golden Tools or the other Job's AFs.

I know it's intentional, but I also call it bad design choice (Time Sink content). “We release the first Disciple of the Land specific armors and just toss them out in Hamlet Defense with a 1% drop rate, so players will be busy for some time.”. This is just being lazy. :(

I remember that statement of Yoshida where he said that “the idea is to create contents and the hardcore players will complete them before the others and get their weapons, while the casual might need 3 months to do it, and by then we'll release new contents”.
I don't remember if it was in one of his interviews or letters, but he said this and the idea was that eventually the casual would also have their efforts rewarded. But in a random system like the current one, a casual might be lucky and get the Hat on the first victory, while a hardcore could do 100 Hamlets and never see a sign of the Hat.

They could come up with way better ideas that would keep us busy for several weeks – Hey, by the way, it's Summer Time eh :D – rather than just spamming the same content again and again, and I don't think that would influence the schedule of 2.0, we're not talking about super coding here.
In the first post I said just a few ideas, maybe not the best ones, but surely far better than a random reward from spamming a content that almost nobody likes doing.

Yeah, I HATE "luck" based content... The Gambler's crown is the only luck based item I can appreciate, as it is purely bragging rights and not anything anyone actually needs. I want DoL/DoH AFs by EFFORT, not luck.

Exactly!

they really NEED to make content that requires WORK even its its insane like getting the luminary tools atleast you'll be getting something for your time and not wasting you life for zero.

a bad design is over complex, a good design is keeping things simple. just like ffxiv version one coding = bad design.

It feels like people don't like Hamlet :3

Hamlet is a lot of fun, I agree, but these luck based drops, I question. I will keep trying to get it because again, Hamlet IS fun, but it can also get old pretty fast.

I'm personally more concerned with people who don't even have DoL leveled, getting these things, and use it as an incentive to level it. THAT would bug me.

I think what my point was, was that people were saying they want to be able to get stuff for there fisherman using there fisherman, which is a common thing people want across many subjects for all classes.

It's no different having a fisherman needing to use dow/dom to get his hat or something than it is for a dragoon who has to run av as blm to get the 17 minute times needed for his relic.

and while yes hats are armor and stuff doh/dol get there tools using there crafts instead of there armor.

I think if a botanist can get everything he ever needs be it tools armor or other gear doing nothing but botany then drg/pld/mnk etc should be able to do the very same thing.

With 2.0 DoL can find treasure maps. SE could make it that we need to find a special treasure map, which lead us in a dungeon, for which we need a battle party around us to survive, to find there a coffer which give us for a chance the hat ^^
The founded special treasure map would be the key for the coffer.

Then just do hamlet as fisherman.
A good hamlet party need 2 DoL and 2 DoH to get the 60+ points.
