The first ever released Class-specific armors for Disciples of the Land, as we all know, are a completely random reward from Hamlet Defense.
I did almost 100 Hamlets and never saw one drop.
Then, I realized that all the parties for Hamlet Defense were only aiming for seals and weren't really
enjoying the content.
As part of my philosophy is: “
In Eorzea we should always do only what we like doing.”, eventually I got bored of the adventurers' boredom.

Holy Nald, all the times that I asked: “Am I the only one who likes Hamlet Defense?”, only 1 adventurer answered me positively!
And I could understand them, doing the same content over and over with the same Class/Job setups again and again.
Therefore, I decided to stop doing Hamlet Defense, as I couldn't stand anymore all the boredom in the air, and went back to the origins, with the good relax of questing, crafting and gathering.
The purpose of a virtual world like Eorzea should be of joy and amusement, and never become stressfull. Of course, I cannot force other adventurers to stop doing something they don't like doing, stressing themselves, but to me it's just wrong.
And unfortunately, who (badly) designed the content decided to put those Disciple of the Land hats I really want – and let me specify, I only want them because I'm a True Disciple of the Land and for look purposes – as utterly random reward of said content. It must be something like 1% drop rate.
And I would like to ask the dev team:
Why?
Let me quote my point from
another post of mine.
After all this time they finally release some Class-specific equipments for us gatherers, to be considered like AF, and what do they do? They place them as a Randow Reward with a ridicolously low chance to obtain them, only based on
luck.
Why, as a gatherer, I cannot truly
earn those hats?
- Let me swing my pickaxe in Coerthas 10.000 times, if needed.
- Let me reach some extremely dangerous places, like speaking with the NPCs in Lasthold (I tie Exploration a lot with my Disciples of the Land Classes).
- Let me gather 99 HQ Logs, Minerals or Fishes of the hardest type.
- And maybe create a proper quest, like with the Disciples of War and Magic ones for AF, with a story behind.
Just some ideas that would provide at least a bit of
challenge and commitment, rather than just spamming the same content over and over only praying for Lady Luck.
A hardcore would obtain them, say, in 2 weeks and a casual like me in 3 months, but eventually
the efforts will be rewarded.
What the devs should know is that not everyone has the gathering Classes leveled only for monetary purpose. There're certain adventurers who actually
liked leveling them up and still enjoy playing them.
Why can't we have e concrete system to truly earn the finally released Class-specific equipments for Disciples of the Land?
I will always consider these bad design choices of the Random/Luck Factor that arrived with the Speed Runs/AoE Feast of the instanced raids to be
a huge flaw.
The sooner the devs understand it and fix it, the better for most of the adventurers that on this very moment are still spamming those contents, with the same Classes and same strategy every time, not having fun in doing it, and just for a slim chance to get a drop.
Yoshida-san and dev team, please take into serious consideration an alternative way to get those hats!
I saw the Armorer and Botanist Class-specific armor from the E3 screenshots, and it wouldn't be fair to put those equipments as a random reward rather than allow us to properly gain them.
The botanist's hat above is actually the one obtained randomly in Hamlet Defense...
Not only I hope the subsequent armor pieces won't be obtainable in a similar random way, but also that the hats will finally get a concrete way to be found and no more a random thing from Hamlet Defense's spamming.
Think about us True Disciples of the Land & Hand, please. And stop with this random crepe once and for all, for the Twelve's sake.
Thanks for reading.
