Stop cheating new players

You can do many similar stuff with your apartment (except obviously the space and gardening)
We still have island sanctuary to see and tbh...housing is always one of MANY things that a modern fantasy game have, quitting the game because the lack of accessibility seems...dramatic.

If you like management that much, maybe Cities Skyline, The Sims, ESO, etc...have enough to fill this gap for now.

Not everyone will be satisfied with everything, that's the rule.

As long as auto-demolition remains off and majority of the wards remain FC only, many people will be unable to get a house. Adding new wards will only alleviate the problem for the first couple lotteries since nothing is being reclaimed.

I was bored and decided to look up some of my neighbours on the lodestone, and many of them do not have a level 90 job. This means they haven't played since before Endwalker and are just sitting on an unused house.

I play games because there are things that I cannot have in real life but I can in games. I cannot beat big freaking monsters or cast magic spells, I cannot ride shiney dragons, I cannot just not pee 24/7.

One of my life goal is to have a house, so when I learned I could get one, I was super happy (Mind you I joined the game in ShB, so for a long time I did not know about housing). I liked the idea and I got very invested. Until I figured out I will never have my own house in this game...

It kinda shattered the "fantasy" of final fantasy to me. Not that different from my real life. And all the people who make fake FCs to have a house and then talk down to those who complain, cause we dont try to "cheat" the system, kinda sound like the older generation who could buy a house for pennies when they were young...

This is my opninion and feelings.

But I am hopeful that the personal islands will solve this.

To qualify you need to be 2nd Lt. in your GC and have about 4M for a small (3-3.75M for the plot and another 450k for the house permit). Both can be achieved before the end of ARR proper for somebody motivated enough to grind it out. Conversely you don't lose the sprout until you step into Endwalker.

Sorry but as far as what I have heard and read, Islands will not be anything like housing :/

I always thought it a bit odd that SE uses housing as such a big marketing push on new players, yet cares so little for provisioning it anywhere close to demand.

At this stage of the game, there are 3 possible explanations for SE not having fixed this issue. The first is that SE either lacks the resources to fix this issue or feels that the resources required outweigh any benefits gained. The second is that SE lacks the expertise to pull apart the code (I recall someone saying that they are notoriously reluctant to resort to outside help for fixing things) and insert fixes to the housing system. The third is that SE deliberately wants housing to be a restricted commodity. None of these possibilities precludes the others. SE has not even acknowledged that there is a problem and thus all of these possibilities remain on the table. Until we get ANY acknowledgement of this issue, we are essentially perma-stuck at square one with no resolution in sight.

All of those are correct, and I need to agree. I will add a fourth though...

The Hrothgar Earless Hair excuse for housing which basically goes with Yoshi saying "well, we didn't know you wanted anything better, we heard you on the lottery idea and thought that was what you wanted and now you say it's not. Well this is very concerning." and maybe a "post what you want want he forums, and we will look at it".

Honestly, I wish he could hire an experienced dev with a proven housing track record, someone like Emily Taylor (Domino) from EQ2's past or many others of similar star calibre to redo it and come up with something world beating.

When did you leave your old MMO? Because I'd've thought that between 2017 and now you'd have been able to obtain a house :0

Conversely, if the ONLY reason they joined the game was because of the possibility of owning a house, why are they still here, when they obviously haven't gotten one yet?

I don't own a house, but I have a room in the FC house, which I've decorated to my liking over the last, um, seven or eight years? Several of my alts own apartments, which is pretty much the same thing.

One can 'decorate' and do all sorts of things in either the FC room or apartments. The only thing that can't be done is the exterior, but many people have already indicated they don't need the 'neighborhood', just the house itself.
