Is there a conspiracy for lvl capped players to ignore materia?

Playing since 2.0 I had it ingrained that you needed materia. Now with alot ofnstat crush and changes I think ppl wait til tome gear or i530

Also you do a MSQ from Minfillia to speak to a go lin about materia and melding. Can’t remember ifnthere was any tips for the NPC though

To increase access to the materia and make it more likely they will use it, but as I explained most people are overwhelmed or uninterested by anything beyond just playing and doing the story. A lot of people going through the story don't understand what all the things in their inventory are and whether they are important.

It used to, so there's that.

I don't use materia until I get my end of expansion gear. Everything else is replaced too quickly. I have a ton of materia that never gets used as a result. I never sell it either it just sits around taking up space so I really should do something about that sometime.

Materia has changed over the years...

In the past, extracting Materia did indeed destroy the piece of gear, and you had to either Meld it by yourself or get another player to do it for you. Relevant crafter levels were required for the Melding, which generally meant you had to be max level in every crafter if you wanted to use Materia until I think Stormblood...

You can take materia out. Just meld it. It's cheap too. It couldn't be any easier.

You won't get any arguments from me. I just don't see the need to meld when I rarely ever even do ex trials these days. Don't need them for dungeons and 24 player / story mode 8 player raids. All my i530 gear is melded however.

I'm all for materia melding. It does help greatly. But I do understand that we are 2 months (less than 2 for EA) out from the next expansion, so it probably doesn't matter as much now. Would I cringe to see someone in full 530 gear with 0 melds? Absolutely. There's no good excuse for it. Even so, I would simply let them go about their business. It's their choice, for better or worse. Chances are someone, somewhere will point it out to them. They will either care or not give a crap.
