Arbitrary restrictions in terms of cosmetics just ends up feeling like a punishment for not picking the "right" race, without giving any reasonable advantages.
I honestly agree here. I've never been a fan of race/gender restricted anything as it doesn't really add anything to the experience for anyone, except the people playing the race. Not to mention SE is terrible about making hideous race clothing ( Looking at you Lala, Roe and Hroth )and end up getting left out in the rain when everyone else got good designs. Remove the restrictions and lets move on.
People often will use lore and immersion/thematics to defend keeping things restricted, but we already have so much immersion-breaking content in the game that I really don't see how a Hyur wearing a Hrothgar outfit is any worse. We have flying Bear mounts with Santa hats, flying giraffes, pig costumes, and this is just right off the top of my head lol.
I wouldn't mind this, but I don't think Viera and Hrothgar sharing theirs with Midlander and Roe is a particularly convincing reason for this to happen.
It's not like we have our own sets in addition to the Midlander and Roe ones, we got hand-me-downs because they couldn't be bothered or ran out of time.
It's not exactly a privilege and just highlights the half-baked nature of these 2 races even more.
Viera/Hrothgar not getting unique hempen is just further proof they probably would prefer not to do any new unique racial gear. I think more so because of the sheer amount of gear they'd have to design.
It does highlight their limitations, just that bit more. They got the bare minimum, pretty much.
I find this thread comical. Thank you for the laugh. What exactly does the year have to do with anything? You will always have race restrictions on those items because SE, the company that develops this game wants it to be that way. I know its hard when you can't complain and have things change the way you want them to. That is life.
