Limited Job #2: Beastmaster

You have a right to your opinion...just like everyone else. If you post on a public forum you will have people that will agree and/or disagree with you. So instead of lashing out I would take it in stride. No one is attacking you. Some are just disagreeing with your opinion/idea. It can still be a constructive thread...so long as you avoid posts like the one I quoted above.

The way I see limited jobs is a way to be more faithful to what makes the jobs unique by making them side content, without the usual balancing etc that comes with normal jobs, that otherwise might not get added or if they were added, would suffer more for being molded into a formula. For that reason I don't mind the way blue mage is handled and wouldn't mind seeing beastmaster implemented that way.

In fact, if they do add a second limited job they did name drop beastmaster as a potential limited job. I believe during the fanfest where blue mage was announced but would need to double check where. So I wouldn't be surprised at all if in say 5.4 or so we got beastmaster.

Yes, lets toss away a system instead of working on it, making it better, perfecting it. I'd rather them make a system better than leave it out to dry. The first is a process of willing to make it work and possibly come up with a few ideas that can lead to them eventually being normal jobs or make current jobs better. The second is basically wasting code, diminishing people's attempts to make something unique, and comes across as a thought process that eventually leads to no innovation because you're so terrified of failure.

It's not that. A lot of people would love Beastmaster.
It's the simple fact you suggested it to be a Limited Job
which nearly no one ever wants to see again because of BLU.
If you said for it to be a normal Job, that'll be fine.

That said, no to limited, yes to normal job from me lol.

Beastmaster can never become a normal job, simply because the amount of monsters you'd be able to get would have to be limited to 2-4, and would be gotten only through job quests. That's not beastmaster, that's a variant of FFXIV's Summoner.

I agree! However, they are way too slow to update the one we have already, and its design is flawed at best with no signs of significant improvements anytime soon. So...I feel that their time and resources would be better spent elsewhere (aka, not on another limited job) since they clearly don't care enough to fix what we already have, at least not in a timely manner.

That's completely understandable. Viera and Hrothgar were down to the wire to get them out for ShB, so I imagine a lot of stuff got pushed back or had to be rushed through. Content such as the relics, the new Diadem, the BLU update itself (it originally was supposed to come out during the late SB patches)...I really don't expect to see a new Limited Job for a while.

I don't object to limited jobs as a concept, just in the implementation we've seen. Blue Mage is fun for a week or so, but then you realize that getting the high-end spells requires being carried through content for a low chance at maybe getting a spell. It was promoted as being "too overpowered" for roulettes, but its DPS is subpar without those spells. Even if you make an exception for bringing strong spells into low-level content, it fails, because Red Mage and especially Dancer already do that (seriously, Standard Step murders everything in early dungeons, it's hilarious) without being hamstrung by the "limited" label. The only BLU content right now is the Masked Carnival, but unless you really need Grand Company seals, it too has little lasting value. The only other rewards are gil and Poetics, neither of which are hard to gain elsewhere.

So in short, I don't object to Beastmaster as a job. I don't object to the idea of a limited job. But I do object to how it currently works.

Luckily they stated that there's going to be a massive boost for the Blue Mage Log usage. I believe it was stated before that it would be "near guaranteed" if you complete the content using that. If it is indeed like that and you only need 1-2 runs for the spells, I see it as a good thing...but they'd need to make it so people want to keep running it, otherwise it'll be dead content within 2 weeks.
