The two are nothing alike and there is no need to get snarky about which game came first either.

Go read up about phasing, basically it's a process where a player can only see certain aspects of a game that the server allows it to.

Player 1 may go to an area and see a destroyed village, Player B can go to the same area and see a newly built village based on the progression of his quests.

Both players are still in the same area on the world map.

I've noticed this with a lot of the recent quests in WoW and a few other MMO's doing the same thing. I think it's a great thing, It adds a whole new level of depth to the game.

@Catapult I kind of wish I was around during that time just so I can get that sparkler. I'm a sucker for bright flashy lights. I think that was during my self imposed 6 month exile from the game.

I believe its a fireworks. The user did an emote while using the fireworks to get that pose.

I know when I had been playing, I did a "Merry christmas" thing, where I made a bunch of items, and gave them out to people.
