WONDERING - why no BATTLE LEVES for SB & ShB?

They have never given anywhere close to what DoHs get, not even in ARR.

And again, this is something they could have addressed if they wanted to. Had they done this, people would have started doing these leves again. Unsurprisingly, people enjoy getting XP when it's worth their time. But it's pretty clear they just got tired of making more levequests, and realized that if they took non-combat leves away the outcry would have been enormous, so they made a concession with those.

HW was just the start of it, when they were actively discouraging combat leves by not even bothering to put a levemete anywhere other than Ishgard, making repeated leve usage far more tedious.

Normally when you make content and people don't bother doing it because it isn't rewarding enough, the typical response should be to refine it and make it more rewarding rather than just give up on it entirely. The fact that SE went for the latter option here should say enough about their motivations.

I hate doing them just for my Zodiac weapons, and that's been a thing since ARR.

People didn't like them, and with things like Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High to level from 50-70 and Shadowbringers focus on Fates, there are just better alternatives.

Also grinding your highest level dungeon is still a great of way of getting 30% of your bar filled without bonus.

Fine, then the DEVELOPERS don't like them for whatever reason.

I'm guessing that few players actually use their combat classes on them because the rewards save the weekly bonus aren't really worth it, and those who are leveling their crafters and gatherers would rather use up those allowances on those classes.

Another reason might be that they aren't very engaging or challenging to do. I'm not saying that they should be overly difficult, but when enemies can't even survive one combo string it kind of takes the air out of fighting them.

What is unfortunate is that for many players allowances sit at max for months until the crafting/gathering leveling process starts up again. Put the right rewards in battlecraft leves and players will do them. SE simply chose to no longer put effort into them, which is a bit sad considering how in 1.0 they wanted these leves to be a kind of bread n' butter.

Sounds like a simple solution to me. Make them more difficult on the level of (solo, not FATE-train with ridiculously buffed HP) FATE enemies, increase the rewards to correspond with the fact you're expending a limited resource to do these.

Again, this is something they could have addressed if they wanted to.

People want open world content, but don't like open world content.

There is nothing wrong with fates. I still don't understand people's aversion to them. They give good exp, especially with the forlorn and exp up buffs. There are a fair variety of them, parties are usually pretty engaging, unlike dungeons which people complain about cuz social aspect.


So what's the issue? Is it the circle on the map? Or blip on the screen? Music change? Fates are open world content that give lore tidbits, exactly what people want, yet they hate them. Why.

Whether or not some people liked them, it was another option to chose from that was taken away from the players. Not everyone like FATES, or PotD but there options. I love the squadrons, there some people who dont like squadrons or ever used them but they are still an option to use.

That's how I feel about the battle leves, they are options to get items, gears, food, gil, exp, & since LEVEs are in the CHALLENGE LOG, & I don't gather or craft really, battle leves is what I use to get that weekly 1m+ exp bonus for my alts.

As someone mentioned in the post, now that FATES can give better rewards & drop gemstones to purchase items, they could re-vamp battle leves, give better rewards, better quests, etc. which may encourage people to do them.

Speaking personally, I don’t find them that engaging. They’re AOE or single-target zerg fests most of the times with little to no mechanics; and little danger if you’re solo, and no dangers at all if you’re in a FATE party. The only ones I like are the Super FATEs because at least they have mechanics. Like the big one in the last area in ShB is a treat—especially...

As for leves, they can’t make them as good as DoH leves because then why would people queue into dungeons? I can take a crafter from 70 to 80 in a day just doing the triple-turn in leves. Imagine if you had leves like that for DoW/DoM? Why would people take dungeon spamming over easy leves? Battle classes also have a myriad of options for EXP (FATEs, dungeons, PotD/HoH, Roulettes), where as crafters/gathers have crafting log for first time craft bonus, collectibles, and leves. And collectibles can’t even be done until level 50+, so up until then they only have 2 options.

I haven’t done leves since the early days of my gameplay, and even then I only did them up until level 15 or to get that little bitty bit of EXP between levels so I could move on to the next dungeon. Now, they have PotD that fulfills the same purpose more or less, and gives more. Sure, 10 floors of it takes a little bit more time, but they also give you a lot more experience.

And in doing so kill another leveling method. Craft/Gather leves give an absurd amount of EXP—enough you can level all eight crafters from 70 to 80 in a week. If they allowed this with battle jobs, well, why would people touch roulettes or Deep Dungeon? You can only incentivize so many things. Given how easy and simplistic battle leves were, they couldn't ever rewarded a lot of EXP or they default to becoming the best method. So they were eventually axed entirely when people stopped doing them in Heavensward.
