Monk new abilities talk, kind of discussion, thoughts so far?

It is hard, since most MNK related "cool"skills are basically a flourishes of kicks and punches, i.e too time comsuming, maybe we can have a light train and supplex it on the boss? Either way it just bugs me that it has remain the same. Maybe phantoms apear kind of like advent children omnislash?

Also you are forgetting the whole color change in the GL stacks, that could mean that we get different bonuses (GL wise) depending on what stance we are currently in, if so... that seems very dangerous.

Sabin had the prototype limit break of Tiger Break, which was just a high speed dash in at the enemy for massive damage. Would be hard to translate this into a FFXIV style limit break. Suplex would be really cool, but I imagine that would also create difficulties around animating the attack for certain enemies as every single one would need to be able to be picked up and slammed into the ground, additionally this could also create further issues if there's a situation where two monks attempt to LB3 at the same time. 24-man raids would be an easy place for this to happen.

Yang existed in a time pre-limit break, so hard to find inspiration there. Amarant was more or less your monk in FF9, but again no limit breaks, and Wakka was your closest thing to a monk as far as stats are concerned in FFX, but all his limit breaks are based around blitzball, so again not much to pull from. Soverign Fist from FFXIII is probably the best candidate for a new monk LB3 if they were to change it at all.

they could do a suplex limit break by having a train charge at your char and then you suplex it onto the enemy

It was also the monk's limit break from FF11(ie the precursor to FFXIV) . The only reason dragoon's were using FH in 2.0 was because they had yet to implement any other LB3s apart from mnk, whm, blm, and pld

We finally got a hadoken and FINALLY other people in the world of FFXIV - players- are calling it a HADOKEN. Capcom FTW. OTher than that, I'm worried about stances, I wish they were gone in shadows but it looks like we're still stuck with them. I just wish we could get away from those other fist if none of them but one is useful. Wind and earth so far right now are useless when you're 99% in fire stance the whole time. - I know about the TK opener but what... that doesn't make wind useful when you only use it for an opener and go completely back into the default stance of fire.- I dunno. That's just my worries honestly and hope when we get the info this wed people explain what stances if any we have for monks and everything.

some people are theorizing that the 4th gl stack is locked behind wind since in the vid the monk switched to wind before the 4th 1 unlocked

If the leaks are to be believed, the fourth GL stack is indeed only available in Fists of Wind.

Riddle of Fire is also being stated as having lost the haste debuff, but now eats all of your GL stacks when it expires, meaning you're basically forced to burn them with Tornado Kick.

I think they're trying to push alternating between wind and fire with the former being the new default stance you spend most of your time in and the latter being used during MNK's burst window.

I the vid, monk use riddle of fire, but stays with the 4 gl from riddle of wind, I think the riddle do not affect our stances anymore.

also, as he carries his combo, the ascending multiple kicks reloaded the stacks of GL to the max, but he was in raptor when he landed the hit.

Since he did it just after a dragon kick. it's proly an oGCD, if so, we can't tell for sure, the hast devuff left, monk could've been double weaving with that ascending kicks and forbidden aoe
