How do we feel about the tank changes?

im pretty happy with everything i see but im still worried about stuff i din't see, how it's working living dead? it's still the same and DRK still dont have reliable self heals to dealt with it by himself? how is holmgang? his CD was nerfed for the good now they have inner beast free? i hope soo.

i still want to see the full toolkits and see the diferences betwen MT/OT utility, looks everything its defensive utility only and the OT have more tools to help the MT and the only thing i dislike for now it's rampart, i saw it on GNB toolkit in the presentation so i gues shadow skin din't make it -.-

well with the new tank stance we will stance dance much more that now, compared to switch stances only after get agro VS stance dance everytime a tank swap is required its a positive change.

I've been 50/50 on the info they revealed some of it seems good and some not but you can't really say until you actually play it yourself but it does feel that the game as a whole seems to be going down the path of casual.

Removing TP and only having MP where all jobs are capped at the same seems like a bad move imo it's a main stat in most RPGs that's where mages excel in, some jobs don't use MP and some do, not sure where they came up with idea with only having the same MP across all jobs, it seems to just be TP hidden under the image of MP.

Removing tank stances seems like it its a good move but that's where some of the skill was knowing when to change your stance to do extra dps

No more enmity combos there wasn't much rotations for tanks in the first place removing enmity which you can clearly tell the difference between a tank who knows how enmity works and one that doesn't, now you ain't going to know. It's also going to get replaced halone by another more "powerful" rotation so they say but it should be adding more rotations to make the game more fun/varied not just removing and replacing as the tank rotation already isn't the most exciting and hard to understand.

Making the tanks more similar to each other as well removes any sort of uniqueness to the jobs apart from looks and animations, WAR always was the tank with more HP and more aoe dmg but it's all been slowly taken away for what made that job.

As PLD main myself I feel like some of the changes are welcomed and make the job more in line with the others but most of the decisions have been all towards making the game more casual, less things to worry about as there is less variety.

They mentioned that all tanks can be MT and OT will all be the same but you simply don't know until players start doing Eden to find out whether there is some sort of meta which makes a difference.

Also for me as time goes on from expansion to expansion your job should start to feel more complex as you have already learnt everything that your job has offered from the last so are waiting to expand on it with new skills/spells when a new expansion releases to make the job have more depth to it but it doesn't feel like it's being expanded on as lots of stuff is just being removed and only some being replaced with new actions.

Sunder Armor. Warriors had to stack it up to optimally use Devastate, which had a threat multiplier on it also.

I'm curious now if Warriors in FFXIV will still be the super-hp tanks now that all tanks get the 20% damage reduction via the Tank Mastery trait. I did see that their abilities were rather boring (animation wise).

I'm looking forward to AoE Holy Spirit and lolbigsword.

This is something that has concerned me. Paladins have a substantial amount of utility and I fear it will get gutted. The fact that Sheltron is now an interval of time makes me wonder if it is still a gauge cost or a short cooldown. Right now, I block 30% damage. When this change goes live, with proportional gear, will it be the same? That's Vengeance level mitigation on demand if so.... It's basically Inner Beast, but better. How about the other defensives we have? Are they culling Bulwark? Sentinel? Are they making their way toward more "active mitigation" usage instead of cooldowns themselves? I know... I'm way over thinking this, but I'm worried that all the reasons I love Paladin are going to be axed to make the other tanks more of an option.

The meta of stance dancing did put my axe down. With the one stance change I am quite interest to pick my axe up again, and the new tank job do look very interesting and cool. Which is one of my biggest issue back in ARR, axe feel like savage and shield is not too cool. This change along with gunbreaker I will be quite interest to go throw ShB with tank rather than my AST

The decision likely came from the fact that... MP literally is meaningless as a number.

Everything costs a percentage of your MP anyway, so it literally has no bearing about whether you have 100 or 100,000 MP really. Outside of flat number increases such as Elixirs (Which restore a percentage, up to a cap)

All MP values being identical means that anyone whom uses MP gets the same benefit from MP restoration effects (Refresh, Elixirs, Mana Shift)

activating deff stance on tank switch, yeah that might or might not be a thing, we will see how everything plays out.

From the vid, its still a gauge skill, i guess it will block for the duration its active.

to don't rip the agro of you co-tank, as far as we know the stance is instant with a 10s recast, so there is no reason of make you co-tank job harder especially if you have more gear that him you will rip his agro eventually since every skill will generate agro unde the new tank stance.

and being instant and oGCD there it's even less reasons to generate problems just for being lazy.

I foresee MANY Dark Knights in our future. That shadow clone was a nice touch to get more people interested. It looked like it mimicked the player on certain abilities, but did its own thing during other abilities. I feel confident that DRK will be overpowered for the first patch. They're the posterboy of the xpac, after all.

Yes so you will want to drop it after you swapped out of MT position and take your OT position.


On a side note but my calculations are not as good right now as i would wish but are the new tomestone/raid accessoires now superior to pentamelded crafted?
