Lets talk about Micro transactions

I think that buying a retainer jump potion is nuts because they're so easy to level in the first place that it feels as though the buyers are the ones being cheated, but if that's what some people enjoy then good for them. I can't get mad about it because it's so trivial.

I also don't especially care about the other jump potions even though I'd never use one, even for my alt. People will always be lazy. With no jump potions, they just buy characters on the black market. I've only knowingly met one person who used a jump potion and I only knew because they said at the start of the party that they might still be bad at their job because they'd just bought the jump. I appreciated their openness. We did fine. Monetising impatience is better than having people avoid the game because they can't be bothered to catch up on years worth of content.

Its a pretty safe bet am sure @LaylaTsarra

Most important thing to remember is right there in the announcement:

"New Optional Items Available!"

That's all. Optional.
Want it? Get it.
Don't want it? Don't get it.

Hyperbole. Strawman. nothing purchasable so far grants a significant advantage over other players. why the hell would they make jump potions for anima weapons when 2.0 version is still a grind. What am I winning if my squadron is max level?

Here's the thing.

Every time a new expansion is released, everyone wants to try the new classes. I was a Dragoon main in Heavensward and now I main Samurai, so in order to make my dragoon retainer a samurai (since he had the job vocation script), I had to reset and start from level 1 again.

I think that is why they made the retainer jump potion. Would I have put it in mog station? Absolutely not, but SE is a business and profits keep this game alive so I can see why they did it.

its not really end thread but I guess the better point about adding jump potions is a mmo is suppose to be a time sink to keep your player base doing something, anything but when you start removing parts of it that take weeks to do your really removing the reasons for them to login day after day and SE doesn't have the best track record when it comes to amount of content in each patch

Jump potions for retainers was asked for? That's... a weird request. Don't really see what's wrong with doing quick ventures every hour while you're playing and then send them off on an exploration when you're about to log off for a while to sleep, etc. They get chunks of exp often while you play and whatever they pick up once while you're not.

It's a common theme for MMOs in general. So long as it's not pay2win it's typically not an issue. It's a business first and foremost. Usually it's mostly glam/aesthetic stuff. Sometimes leveling boosts, extra exp%, repair tools, etc. Things like that. It just depends on the game really but they're all relatively harmless to the health and balance of the game. It's more about convenience and vanity items when you get down to it.

Well if everyone has 8 retainerd all max you pretty much just flooded the market board with a bunch of built in bots that wouldn't of been there as generally people are lazy and cant be bothered to do the grindy gathering lets for argument sake say I had 8 bard retainers that's awesome that's 80 of an item lets just say gaz skin while i go do a dungeon with no effort at all. Let break it down further so that's 25 ish leathers every 40 mins oh I can see no problem at all until everyone and his dog starts this and tanks the in game economy
