It's really depressing how the job design is getting more shallow instead of more complex as time goes. Even if we accept that no job can do anything besides their designed role, soon we'll be reaching 15 jobs that have less differences between them than the original 9 from 2.0.
In the name of balance, they're streamlining the game so much that I don't even see the point of leveling any other DPS - heck, if not for marketing, I don't even see the point of having more than the original 9 jobs. It's designed so your choice doesn't matters besides aesthetics. A great marketing move, but one that not enough people are willing to criticize - ergo, it will never change.
So yeah... we can't even have unique jobs, let alone different specs to play. I for one would love to be a summoner healer/support with Phoenix egi, but the game will close before I can even summon Phoenix egi at all. Balance = no fun allowed.

Instead of multiple specs per job to perform different roles. I'd prefer specs to do the same role in a different way.
Random example:
A ranged dps nin build focusing only on mudra casting,
A smn build that removes dreadwyrm trance but drastically increases pet damage and lets you call two egi's at the same time.
You get the idea. -

SMN and SCH is not a "book" job, only ACN is, it is 1.0 mess they tried to keep but does not work for this game. Also SCH is really lacking in PvP, way too weak

Yoshida thinks that it's fine for summoner to only have three summons because "all roles are covered" and that he'd rather "add more spells for the summoner" instead of focusing on summons. Besides, we have 3 fully animated egis yet still no way to "glamour" them - they can't even add stuff that's ready already, why do you think that we'd be "true summoners" just because arcanists got deleted?
"Book job"? Why does this even matters. PvP balance - matters as much as not having Leeches (as in, almost nothing).
Why are people so keen in removing fun in the name of "balance" -.- almost as if white mage doesn't exist. They lost everything unique and fun to them in the name of "balance" and look at the result: a weak, boring job.
(sorry if I sound harsh, but this idea that arcanist jobs are broken kind of upsets me as they're the only interesting jobs left) -

Equip a different weapon / job stone. Ta-da! You were a Tank but now you are a DPS!
The system you mentioned is more designed for games where you can't freely change your class. -

Yoshida cam think one way, I can think another. I find it funny how you are obsessed with saying people want SCH a 3 button healer job ( I do not you are putting words in my mouth) but fine with the simplicity in summons.
I want to play SCH, not a healer mixed with outdated 1.0 gameplay. I want to be able to actually PvP on SCH, not feeling so damn limited because we got no CC, also leeches 40 can die in a fire. a 60 sec recast on impossible to mico manage is not "not a problem" there is huge issues with that, I can't believe you are blindly defending a broken system just because you wan to accept things for how they are.
If 1.0 did not exist, you would not have SCH/ACN/SMN thing, all of it is based on that version of the game that was completely changed for 2.0 + meaning this current system of SMN and SCH does not fit the current game and shows with the imbalanced glameplay. -

Scholar is a tactician and has always used books in the series (iirc some summoners could equip books as well). If we consider that the method of materializing egis is the same as Carbuncles, then their magic is arcanima; magic through numbers and equations. A book fits perfectly. I don't understand your point on scholar DPS. What would you want for them to get or lose if they got split? I assumed that you wanted to take away the DPS abilities because that's the biggest difference between scholar and other healers, we evolve from a DPS class so half of our spells are designed to DPS.
As for summoner, Don't get me wrong, I'd love to summon Garuda like how we see in Xelphatol. But as I said, Yoshida is not willing to add the Ramuh and Leviathan that we were promised 3 years ago, invented that "glamour thing" so that he wouldn't have to care about adding new spells for each summon and, even though three of them have their models fully animated and are being used in the game (Ramuh, Phoenix, Sephirot), we're still stuck with Carbuncles (that don't even get proper animations for their attacks) and the original three. Let me repeat that - we were promised Ramuh and Leviathan in march 2014, three years ago. The point is: looking at this amount of neglect, do you honestly think that a summoner overhaul is possible?
