Auto demolition of estate or private room

Originally, they never wanted to do this.
They disliked the systems of taxation, and removal of property.


But the way they set up housing, they can not meet the demand.
Despite not liking the idea of the system, it was really they only way they could come up with to help remedy the system since, according to them, they can't just keep expanding the wards due to limitations.

"Just buy the game a second time" - When people are suggesting THIS as a workaround, it's a sure sign that the system is terribly flawed. Active subscriptions should not lose their house. I've taken a year-long break from this game in the past and would be crushed if I'd invested in a house and returned to find all of that time and effort destroyed. I don't understand why people will defend crappy bandage systems rather than pushing harder for SE to fix the actual problem that is their base housing design. If we all united around that, I am certain they would fix it.

Things like this just crack me up. How incompetent can they be that MMOs with far fewer resources can design housing systems with zero supply issues? xD

I'm not... if you've bought a licence for PC, you can install it on as many PCs as you want (including a USB flash drive which was what I suggested). The same licensing applies for PS3, PS4 and Mac. If you've bought a licence you can install play on any number of those as long as you login with the same account details (PlayStation will also require logging in to the PS Network with the same ID as well).

The buy it again on PC part was just for the PS people who didn't want to carry a console with them (or don't have the option of using someone elses) as it's bulkier than a USB drive. It's not a requirement, it's just an option.

Well I do see lot of people saying that 45 days it not long enough, but I don't think you will find many people that will agree with you about 1 year break. In a perfect system that would be fine you could do what ever you want but it not. As for paying sub why would someone want to pay for a game every month for a year and then not play it?

You don't care so this doesn't really affect you, I get that. I haven't been affected by it either, (I'm in an active FC and I have no intention of taking a break). But you also said you think the present system is unfair. It's causing a lot of people to lose stuff they do care about, sometimes through no fault of their own (see my previous post re. tenants). Shouldn't we as a community be supporting people who are affected and suggesting ways to make things fairer, regardless of whether we will benefit ourselves?

Hence the 'the way they set up housing'.
They didn't make the system as scalable as it needs to be.

For whatever reason only they know, it was designed as it is, and it's just not enough.

I have read a fair amount about reclaim of housing over the months. 45 days is a bit short though 90 days would really be on the high end. My guess for 45 days is to keep players active so they don't lose on one of the best things, a house.
This is a game and real life comes first, I think we can all agree on that. My Gf and I made alts to check out housing on other servers. In our data center some of the servers have empty wards, best plots still open. If housing is that big to so many, it would seem that one of two things can happen, you can changes server where housing is easy to find but that costs real money or SE could make a free server transfer system from high population servers to low population servers that have a lot of housing open. This could help re-balance server populations.
You can make new friends on a new server. If you are gone from the game for 6 months or more, how many players will still remember you on the server. You will most likely need to find a new FC and meet new friends as others on your friends list have real life and may also be gone. I have played since Beta on Behemoth, I have seen most of my friends leave the server to raid on other servers or they have left the game. Yet I still keep my FC active by recruiting, meet new players. If I had done none of this, my FC would be dead and i would have about 2 friends left from beta. In my FC as a rule of thumb about 90% players that are inactive for 60 day or more never come back. So I can see why SE picked 45 days though it is still a little short.
This is only my opinion, If I was gone from the game for say 6 months and returned to find my FC dead and with no house anymore. I would change servers to start over as I very much enjoy FC and personal housing. Paying for it would not be fun and that is why I would recommend SE start a policy of allowing players to move their char(s) to a low population server where housing is open for free. Moving a char to a server where housing is full would still cost money to remove incentive to go to a high population server where housing is gone. I also think this would help re-balance servers.

I do that for games I want to continue supporting financially (perhaps because I agree with some of their design decisions) but may not currently have the time or even the inclination to play. I maintained a sub for Rift until very recently, even when I wasn't playing it. I'll drop money occasionally in GW2's cash shop, even though my playtime is sporadic at best there. There are a lot of MMOs I choose to invest in and play on and off-and-on basis, but this is the only one where I actually risk losing something I put a large amount of time and effort into obtaining. That is a HORRIBLE design decision in an attempt to make up for an even worse one, when what they really need to do is fix the problem that led them to think this was a solution in the first place.

There's no reason we as players need to accept things as they are. If a push for change is unified and strong enough, it can happen.

When talking about changes to housing that would pretty much require an overhaul of the system and how would you suggest they do that without screwing over current housing owners. Anyways massive change like that took place in 1.0 but I doubt we will ever see uproar and discontent like that ever again. Things are just not that bad in current way game runs.
