I wonder if a lv1 DRG can solo :p
is the boss inside the ball?
Well of course FF14 is gonna have it scripted. Ozma in its original incarnation is basically RNG: The Boss. What it does can either not do too much to you or can kill you on its first turn as soon as the battle starts. It's no wonder that people can beat it at LV1 while others feel more comfortable beating him at LV 99.
Ozma is power lost form. Eidolons like Bahamut are given praise and are legendary each generation. So powerful that those who don't understand summoning would covet his power. Akin to ffxivs primal system, this bolsters Bahamut's own power through the praise and desire people have for him.
Ozma, like carbuncle, would not settle with the summoners of gaia, and would need to be sealed away. Ozma is so powerful that they sealed him away, in parts of the world lost to humanity and its history. It's power lost form. It's identity homogenized with the colors of the heavens and clouds surrounding it. It grew beyond a form that the people had originally called for and became ozyma: The faceless Eidolon that would not disappear and would not be mastered.
The Lv 1 solo trick is total cheese and takes advantage of Ozma's AI, forcing it to waste turns, and essentially killing itself with Doomsday. Anyone truly wanting to take on Ozma will do so the way the game's designers intended you to. He is arguably one of the most difficult FF super bosses to beat in comparison to others due to the reactive based turn system. If you want to face him at full difficulty, then don't use the item that forces Ozma to take shadow dmg, and leave the ATB on 'active'.
I don't think Ozma would be as difficult for today's players who are already used to proactive/reactive real time gameplay. Back when 9 came out, the turn based system if left on 'wait', allowed you to think about what you want to do next. Fighting Ozma with the setting on 'active' is probably the closest to what we experience in instances today.
Marble? I always said Ozma looks like one of those little balls you get out of prize toy vendors.
