Not once did I ever hear that, why would they want to discourage pentamelds. If they didn't want it, they would remove the ability to do it from the game. Please find a source for this?

I doubt it. It is not worth losing that huge amount of HP for a very small gain of secondary stats when you use STR accessories. If those tanks aren't doing tanking, sure whatever. BUT we tanks don't get that luxury to turret damage, especially in the current raid. Go tank Midas savage and you will understand that more HP = more leeway for stance dancing = more dps.

You get more VIT from VIT accessories than melding VIT into STR accessories too.

The only reason why we meld STR into VIT accessories is just because it's the most rewarding setup, nothing else.

You're unable to meld mainstat in Advanced Materia melding slots, only on the slots given to you, so you can only put STR V on a slot that already exists on the item. ((Meaning those green dots, basically.))

Well, raids do use Materia; they've just made it so pentamelds aren't outgrading dropped gear in raids and Materia's still an option for that extra boost to a stat. I still kinda think they should work it out a little for future Slaying, considering they're basically like how VIT accs were before 3.2(basically everyone opted for STR for more DPS output).

I think the majority of people are satisfied with the change since it now means that tanks dress like tanks instead of like DPS. One of the problems with the previous meta was that everyone was spouting about VIT being "bad" as long as you had X HP, which is stupid unless you're measuring it up to a specific fight, one with considerable DPS checks. It should never have been a broad game-wide meta. Anyone that heals can tell you a tank buster isn't hard to heal through, it's a matter of timing, and in a skilled party that extra DPS adds more value than that extra HP as a result. In a less skilled party in other content that is not the case.

So while STR was being used well by a few tanks, everyone else was stacking STR because the big kids did it before they even knew how to play their jobs. In dungeons, mobs were cutting through DRKs like butter because they didn't know how to use their skills and proceeded to remove the buffer that allowed healers to compensate for flawed tanking (HP). I liked the options we had before but it was misused, and I've seen healers devastated because a tanked reemed them out for not being able to carry them like the last healer did.

SE doesn't need to rework anything from the current system, except for Parry. If you get rid of STR being a main stat and put VIT at 1AP ratio, it goes back to the tanks able to graze the DPS territory again. All these argument about VIT/STR is just because people overvalue secondary stats too much (Parry does suck so much) BUT it's too much when people think DPS is everything, if you die, all those secondary stats do nothing. Dead DPS = 0 DPS.

Note: 2 stacks of magic debuff in Brawler does 25k damage in Shield Oath btw. Please enlighten how you are going to survive that much damage with STR accessories.

Now that we actually have good crafted gear avaible its not just tanks that needs pentamelded accesories, healers would want them too due accuracy. Damn you Y-P you trolled us all and now everyone is forced to get crafted gear not just tanks!! >_<

It's not that bad even if you don't get crafted gears. You will have 13 slots for accuracy from LHS + weapon because you would want to meld VIT for accessories (That's 9 accuracy X 13 = 117 accuracy total OR 156 accuracy if you use all Vs). Crafted accessories will give 36 accuracy + 1 VIT meld amounting to 180 accuracy more if you really want to chip in DPS (which of course is a lot, but DPS checks aren't that tough anymore for healers to deal a lot of DPS).

There's no reason to make Slaying accessories more desirable, we weren't meant to be using them to begin with. They were intended to be exclusively used by DRG/MNK, which is what they're used for now. Every other job has one accessory option that actually gives DPS/healing benefits, and now so do the tanks.

You would know from watching the live letters. From the live letter XXV before patch 3.1 they talked about how hardcore raid tanks would spend millions of gill to have vit melded into the strength accessories for more damage and hp and that it was unfair for them having to do so. Translated in the section on pg 10 of document below.
