Goad - the ability that doesn't exist

Keep in mind. Goad has zero impact on a Ninja's ability to dps, while Army's Paeon will lower that Bards DPS by 15%. So there is a valid reason for hesitancy there. I do agree that BRD should have invigorate. I rarely run out of TP on BRD even when spamming AOEs.

A lot of Ninja's seem to forget they have that ability. I can't count the number of times I've tanked a party full of ninja's, and get complete silence when I ask for Goad.

Yeah I play paladin and if it's a really long fight like in 8 or 24 man content I run out of tp usually within the last 30%.


Also, as a bard, shouldn't you have invigorate from lancer? It's really a must have, I never need goad and don't really expect the ninja to give it to me.

I think it would be better if you just adapted to every different situation other than rolling a specific priority list. Whoever needs TP the most, should be Goaded. Plain and simple. With the TP bar for other players being visible to everyone, there really is no excuse.

This is sadly true. Fights with no downtime is horrible for Pld's TP, and any Goad is like a godsend.

I'm a MT PLD for my raid group, often the goad target in a1s. When running ex/va however it goes to the drg. ( or a crazy awesome healer who sprints, spam holy, repeat and puts us all to shame on trash.

Obviously. But most run out of TP faster than others, like PLD. I'm not going to Goad a DPS who hasn't used Invigorate over a tank who has no way of recovering TP outside of waiting around, unless you're WAR.

In the case of multiple players running out of TP, I do expect the BRD to Paeon or MCH to Rook -> Promotion.

(Just as a reminder, I'm talking about 8-mans here.)

This is the case regardless of what other jobs are in the party. In fact, I rarely, if ever, see Goad being used on anyone at all.

My songs are always up as appropriate. Perhaps you can play your job as well? Just a thought.

sounds to me you are doing aoe wrong. dot three enemies, and your aoe will always be ready. only reason to use any aoe besides rain of death is if things wont live long enough for dots.

I'll use it on a WAR before anyone else.

But it's also true that I don't play NIN in dungeons very often, since its AoE isn't that great, which can really bog down runs where I'm not paired with a good DPS partner. This is probably true of a lot of NIN "mains," if I had to guess. There are better DPS classes to bring into dungeons so long as you have more than one DPS with decent gear, and if they don't have a DPS, they might have a geared tank or healer they normally use instead. So I wouldn't be surprised if many NINs in DF are folks who don't look into their jobs' abilities as much, generally, and who might not be aware of NIN's utility.

In general, though, I think folks just don't consider utility much in 4-mans. I see BRD's neglecting Foe Requiem or BLMs and SMNs neglecting Eye for an Eye/Virus (I'm really bad about all three of those myself) about as much as I see NIN's neglecting Goad. I just tend to remember NIN's utility because it's my main.

Yeah, I play both jobs, but being out of tp also seriously impacts dps, and paeon works for the whole pt, not using it is hurting more then just the brd. So no, I dont think there is a valid reason to not use tools SE gave you when you need them.

Besides, you only need it up for a few seconds, especially when paired with BV which as you say about nin, brd seem to forget they have BV.

I did a quick Roulette. Saw the WAR running low on TP and gave him a Goad. He praise for me the Goad and left me in complete confusion lol. I didn't know it was that bad in the DF. O.o;;

Tanks can't use Invigorate, so they'll get priority.
But if you ask, I find most are willing to give.

On top that, Waeksyn, your bard has an ability to restore TP too!
