Is 2.0 Actually A New Game?

Apparently the new client will have a digital download according to the documents that were released with the announcement.

Would the new engine change the realism of the game? would it look something like that Art work they display with the UI? if it does then it be more of a downgrade for me ; ; i been posting everywhere that been talking about the new stuff i know the pictrue is art work and not in game but still wonder if the engine change the overall look of the game ; ;

Well the client is getting upgraded as well so should be much better :D

From what I can tell the Client is being updated prior to 2.0

From a technical standpoint it is going to be an entire new game, running on entirely new server software and using an entirely new client. But from a player's "game" standpoint, it will still be Final Fantasy XIV.

Personally, I hope so. I'm probably in the minority but I don't particularly like the art style we currently have so I'd be up for it changing.
Also, I hope they fix all the clipping issues, it's so annoying and I've never played another game with this many of them >_<

It's not a "new game", but the software code behind it will be drastically different and the lay of the land is being changed. We'll still have the same nations the same quests the same characaters (plus new race/gender options)

It's more like an expansion pack to the current game, your data will be kept intact but behind the scenes it will get ported to the new server/database

If you are a customer you will get a free download of the updated client. If not then a new disc will be required.

They can change the area but still keep the look of the art the game look better if they change it to what the display in the art work or more like rfit,aion it be a downgrade for me.
