Spoiler alert when you talk to Hraesvelgr in Heavensward he tells the pc exactly what the Primals are. Primals are not summoned as so much they are conjured by Aether and the Imagination of the believer given form the Hydaelyn. Tiamat explaining that the Bahamut fought in T13 was merely a shade wearing Bahamuts form. From this its clear that the Primals are imaginations manifested by Aether and belief. Conjuring is a low level summoning skill that anyone can do thats why its easy to conjure Primals lore wise. The only actual Gods revealed so far are Hydaelyn, Zordiak and the Warring Triad the rest are fakes.

Well since they are seemingly using the world of warcraft style of classes. Then its safe to assume that at least they won't botch up beastmaster in the very least. When ever they get around to releasing it anyway. I will just play some other job till then really maybe white mage or black mage, since they at least feel the way they should.

Our SUMMONS, yes they are summons, do 20% or more of our DPS, it's a lot. Try not using your pet and see if you don't need your pet to do damages.

FF11 SMN had its flaws, but it did one thing right which was diversify the pet abilities. I never said it should heal obviously SCH is there for that, there are other ways to do DPS indirectly its called "buffs" and SMN brought utility like garuda AOE blink skill. Not every DPS class has to be solely DPS, AKA BARD. I guess everyone's happy to be stuck with Garuda till the End of this game's life. Sure lets manage Contagion every minute when I have all my dots on the target..

One week, can we just go one week without one of these threads popping up? Is that really so much to ask?

Summoner is not poorly implemented anymore, they are incredibly viable in endgame situations and are doing great DPS at this point in the life cycle of the game. It being implemented differently than the way YOU want it to be implemented does not necessarily make it poor implementation.

There are about a billion other threads that you can look up to see the common way that every argument that you're going to bring up is refuted. First and foremost being that this isn't FF11.

Not every pet should have DPS based abilities, thats not how it was in FF11.
Titan could have an AOE stoneskin for example.

If you just leave your pet on Auto pilot you're not playing the class to it's full potential, not even close.

Everyone who makes these threads should get Deathflare disabled. In return they can summon Carbuncle. There you go, lose Akh Morn, get a cute pet.

You clearly haven't played since like, 2006 :\.

But when it comes to XIV, SMN has a unique place, and I agree it plays more like a BLM than a SMN point for point if we take into account past Summoners. One could say its becaus this is an MMO, I can accept that as an excuse simply because SE didn't want to properly balance a pet job that has a split of damage being roughly 80/20 Pet/Master. Because with a disposable DD one might not even look at other DDs. But pets would be more dangerous in most fights because they don't move and can easily be killed by mechanics.

In the same light, it would basically be a full time DD with equivalent power that can keep fighting while the master does mechanics... It would be a balancing act, and in XI SMN was early on a gimper WHM, and in later game a semi-decent DPS, and in late late life it became incredibly powerful. But its been all over the place. Balancing that in XIV wouldn't be hard as its very simplified in terms of damage formulas, unlike XI. It could be done, but it wont, so its best to move on.

AoE Attack - Potency 90
Utility Attack - Potency 90, Paralysis-
Utility Buff - Shock Spikes. same as blaze.

there, he's as "unique" as the others, instead of a stun, he gets a paralyze!

So give me a summon that could be possible in the lore, without making the SMN too OP.

We discussed it many, MANY times that if we bring another summon to the SMN, it would be too OP or too weak.

I am actually supporting the OP.

While summoner here is interesting I am still disspaointed that our pets are so.... so.... marginalized. I miss the idea of us being pathetic and just supporting some godlike pet that represents us.
