I concur with you. Much new content can be added with the simple removal of anima.
Think about it. Why spend the time hiking up this beautiful mountain when I can just teleport to the top and enjoy the scenery in an instant.

I personally don't want it removed, but I would like to see it put back on a lower regen rate with 1.19.
Maybe not as low as it was a year ago though, somewhere between for now see how that would go.
This is what I don't understand:
You either have anima teleports or open world. You can't have both. It's either FFXI or Vindictus. FFXIV cannot do both. Anima spoils the game. If you have Anima, you can't have content that spans the realm. If people port, they won't walk. They'll never explore. They'll just zoom around and never see anything ever.
My question is: What logic do you have to back that up?
Not if you offer alternatives, i.e Some reasonable form of teleportation. Just not every tom, dick and harry and tele from anywhere at anytime, given after patch 1.19 they have multiple forms of transportation. It seems overkill to me.
I disagree, the fact that the game is aimed with Casual playstyle, i doubt you'll find all players fighting over that stuff. Many casuals will probably just be in for some casual fun here and there, not necessarily hardcore endgame stuff.

I think slowing the anima regeneration rate or cutting the anima pool would be a fair enough measure. To just abolish it outright is a really large leap. Maybe do it in steps, if at all.
Doesn't that sound a little schizophrenic? Not every Tom, Dick, and Harry should be able to casually transport, but players won't be competing for much because this game is meant to be played casually? I retain my assertion that these statements are short-sighted compared to the content that Yoshida-san has hinted is ages away, but still planned.
Personally, I just appreciate a wealth of options. I have my mages up and I still wouldn't welcome a mage-driven teleport system.
First of all, it breaks the game's lore. The aether network is a central part of the lore: The ability to become one with the aether and ride it to its strongest points at a cost to your endurance of such transportation. It's just part of the world.
I don't have a clue why people bitch about something that doesn't effect them. Leave the anima alone.
if you chose not to use it, it's no loss to you.
Hum... I think the removal of anima is a bit extreme, since it is useful to some people and some type of players, which we cannot ignore.
The thing about anima is, we should only be able to teleport when touching aetherites, so a player should have to activelly go to a camp/cityto be able to teleport to somewhere.
This way we'd be able to maintain the usefulness of teleporting to somewhere when you're in a rush, or to join your friends, while still promoting the use of chocobos and other means of transportation between cities/camps.
