I'm finding the Gilgamesh community to be ugly and vulgar, is there anywhere better?

I think my Server, Adamantoise to be very friendly.. We do have our douchebags like any other servers but Gilgamesh is also a HUGE server maybe you just need to find good people in your server? I cant say anything about your server since I have never went there.. Though I love Adamantoise's community as a whole.

Have you considered you might come across as an entitled jerk to people? Who are you calling unenlightened? I play on Gilgamesh all the time, I don't know you and never met you in game, and just from your posts here I already don't want to spend any time talking to you. Maybe the problem is you and how you present yourself to people. I guarantee you will be harassed on every server you go to when you walk around thinking and talking like you're above everyone else.

If i may, Gilg has been a home to me twice now and i have not met a plethora of bad individuals at all - the occasional jerk here or there, but what server doesn't have that?

You come across to me as a "Better than everyone" kind of person just by reading your post.

Perhaps examples would better enlighten the situation given here..

You don't seem like you'd be fun to walk in the park yourself.
That 'Holier than thou' attitude won't get you anywhere.
Also you're generalizing people in Gilgamesh and my best friend plays there.

It depends on what you are talking about. If it's people being mean, that will happen on smaller servers since that tends to happen when people gather. If it's language or jokes though, then I might recommend some thicker skin or turn off chat in general.

I am calling anyone who uses a sexual preference/disability (EX. "You're a retard.") in a negative way or as an insult as unenlightened. I am calling anyone who uses slander in response to someone just asking to meet people and befriend them as unenlightened. I most certainly do not feel entitled at all, nor am I a jerk. I am always as nice and as honest to people as I can be and I apologize if you think I came across otherwise. It was never my intention to imply I was better than anyone, only that I refuse to join the dregs of anonymity and if that makes me "holier-than-thou" I apologize for that as well.

I can second this, I rarely see people being rude for no reason (except for the 3.0 hunts and trolls at the moment ) but for the most part if someone is being rude its always as a joke and in shout in Mor Dhona. My FC is the same way, were a friendly group who teases each other but never to a point I'd imagine we would drive anyone away.

I find Gilgamesh to be pretty friendly overall and with a diverse population from casual to hardcore, RPers and a sizeable lgbt community. You probably ended meeting an inconsiderate person(s), but that exists within every server.

Of course, I am not sure what it is you are doing to them that they'd say that to you.

I've been in the server for 1+years and in 3 FCs and none of them tolerated bigotry (sexism, racism, etc.)

Still, if you do decide to move out, Balmung seems pretty friendlier compared to Gilgamesh, IMO

You're going to find this everywhere to varying degrees. You should see Limsa's chat on my server at times. It can get quite...interesting. If you want to get away from it you can always swap servers, though that isn't always an option for people depending on their situations. Short of moving, all you can really do is ignore it and move on with your day.
