Do you think it would be any different here? Granted our "tanking stat" parry is crap compared to bonus armor or mastery, but the fact remains that you would likely have different sets of gear for different scenarios. I know I don't tank T13 in all STR gear like I do the other turns.Quote:

Hybrid classes work in WoW because 1 character = 1 Class.
No such issue here, So theres no reason for any Job to NEED to be able to flip roles like that on the fly, there is presently no content that would take advantage of it naturally outside of Statics with a specific strat in mind.
Being role focused is good for a Job, it eliminates the wasted Skills for the other Role that you may never even play, let alone like.
If we had a hybrid Job, it'd need enough skills to be an effective Tank AND enough Skills to be proper DPS. You'd end up with half your available skills wasted on a role you never use, giving you a very narrow selection for the role you DO like.
Like Druids were in WoW for the longest time, 2/3rds of the total skills in its spellbook were entirely unusable at any given time. -

I just want to see 'pure' support first. They can still be labelled a DPS for all I care. Just make them have low actual DPS but bring enough support to make up for it. A class that has very simple attack mechanics but complex support mechanics and most of the the focus is keeping them up. Like a bard that only has the attack gcds, few of the self buffing ngcds and mudra like mechanic (sans the cram-4ngcds-between-2-gcds) that is mostly used to buff your party.
Like, the class would be outputting DPS only half of the average DPS but bring enough attack buffs for the to others to make up for that missing self 50% (just make the buffs auto scale for 4-8 people parties for balance). Add those buffs with other non offensive buffs, they should be able to become an asset to the group. -

I'm kinda leaning toward taking it with a grain of salt since plans for things like that can change really fast if they decide that it's not going to work out. We already know that hybrid roles aren't due out for the Heavensward expansion since they've already announced the new classes available for that, and they all fit quite squarely into the Holy Trinity. Either it's fallen by the wayside or it's something that's been pushed to the next expansion, neither of which is difficult to believe. It was mentioned in the recent Time Magazine interview, but all he really cited was the difficulty of making it balanced and mentions the possiblity of a "skill tree". He does mention Red Mage is one of his favorite jobs, but that could mean we're getting it as a hybrid role or that it's just being adapted as a pure DPS. Hell, it could just mean he likes dropping bread crumbs to see what conspiracy theories we come up with.Quote:
