You've been saying the Summoner population would go extinct around the time when Summoner was buffed, when FCoB came about, but people still play the job. Sure some have traded the grimoire for a staff, but nothing you've predicted has come to pass. It's fun. It's something for people that have no appreciation for how Black Mage operates, or how melee currently function.
Personally, I prefer the SMN play style over BLM, in spite of its flaws. I like the mobility, I like being able to raise a dead healer while the other one focuses on keeping the rest of the party alive, and I like being able to throw up some DoTs / bane and move on to something else while my DPS ticks. The addition of what looks to be legitimate burst damage ability gives me even more hope for the job.
The overreaction from players disappointed over lack of new egis is unreal.
Even if Akh Morn doesn't float your boat (hint: if this is true, your boat is lame), it seems like a good bet that they are going to work on fine-tuning egi role-specific abilities and then roll out skins so that the caster summon can be Emerald Carbuncle, Garuda, or Ramuh, the melee summon perhaps Ravana, etc.
I wonder if SMN new ability called Tri-Bind only binds three targets as the name seems to insinuate. That would be super useful.
Tri-Bind is just the current Tri-Disaster. Same spell, just renamed. Tri-Disaster is the new ability that'll apply three dots to your target at once, consuming an Aetherflow stack. Tri-Disaster always had the ability to bind more than three targets, they just had to be in range.
There is no winning or losing.
This is the same kind of philosophy that is screwing over voting ("the dems BEAT the gop woooooo").
For most people they probably like certain parts and they dislike certain parts of the class.
So maybe you like more parts than most, or whatever.
We "win" when the class is a "fun", competitive dps class. Fun is obviously subjective but dps is not.
But it is a new ability if its called Tri Bind, isn't it?
Since the name was the only thing wrong with Tri Disaster that infers that Tri Bind will function in accordance with its new name and bind three targets in order to make it semantically correct.
I'm guessing its going to be super useful!
