I think locking access to new Jobs is a HUGE mistake..

DF was like this due to the fact that NIN was the only class released at that time. People who normally played tanks and healers most likely were queuing as dps.

With Heavensward, we have a new class for each role to please people who prefer each role. I doubt it will be a repeat of the NIN chaos, or would be even if newer players could use those classes. Seems like it would really keep things as balanced as always, though you'd be seeing parties made of up a Dark Knight tank, an Astrologian healer, and 2 Mechanists more often than not.

I know that is what you meant but some people seem to be getting them confused is all and that is why they cant understand why they are not starting at level 1. :)

I'm actually really disappointed at the idea of the jobs not starting at level 1. I rather enjoy the leveling process and I was looking forward to more classes to bring up through the ranks.

I really really hope that was a mistranslation.

Yes, Jobs, whatever the right word is. My point remains the same.

Since when has any "Job" started at level 1? Never ever ever has any job started at level 1 in FFXIV. sheesh

These are not "Classes" they are new jobs that use existing classes in new combinations.

No....These are jobs that just don't have classes. They may have 5 or so cross class skills like the other jobs, but funtionally, they are a class+job combined into one without that messy switchover at level 30. They could if the Devs wanted them to, start at 1, but that is not the case.

You don't actually believe that the new Jobs are going to be some combination of old classes, do you? And yes, the Devs have said that these Jobs function without a base class.
