Anyone who remotely thinks BLM is a one trick pony on 3 - 4 mobs and that spamming Blizzard II is maximizing our DPS is a moron, plain and simple or just plain lazy.

And no, 320 DPS AoE is still = 1066 dps over 10 seconds per mob assuming 3 mobs. No one in their right mind who is mathematically sound looks at it any other way.

Let us remove the 10 seconds out of it. You need to factor in HP pools to these equations also, so:

AoE - 10'000hp divide 106.6 dps per mob = 93.8 seconds.


ST - **I must stress here these values in this thread is a very vague rotation used to accomplish this DPS value. ST would be more like in the 320+ range as per this post here**

10'000hp divide 350 dps per mob = 28.5 seconds.
x 2 mobs = 57
x 3 mobs = 85.5
x 4 = 114 = Break point

5 mobs minimum per AoE is efficient and effective, any less is a waste of time when factoring in the eDPS incoming on a Tank is more effectively mitigated with less mobs in a pack. It then becomes about how well geared the tank is or how well they play.

Honestly, any content worth a damn is single target based anyway, unless people claim WP speed runs as content that matters, then Summoners rule that roost anyway for AoE damage.

In regards to tank DPS, huh!?!??! No one mentioned anything of the sort, I think you are misunderstanding the entire equation?

There's no reason to. Just look at potency/target/cast.

Taking the OPs gear into the sim runs him at 307 DPS, anyways. 320 > 307.

Not to mention Blizzard II spam is not, exactly, optimal as pointed out in Sleigh's post.

It is mathematically impossible for any ST to out-pace AoE at 3+ targets simply just looking at potency, for any class/job.

Fire 2 wuts that. ?????? i think i only use it on the tomberry king boss if the group goes with the aoe killing on the boss. But when im with my archer friend its fire 3, flare, ice 3, fire 3 , flare , ice 3 (you get the picture) things die stupidly fast. If im not with an archer its just fire 3, flare, transpose, ice 2, ice 2 then repeat. this will smoke things rather quickly.
