As above Taemek WARs mitigation is static. PLD's variable and % based.
Once incoming DPS is higher than a certain threshold (people have this around 450~ mark) PLD becomes a better tank as it mitigates more.
Currently titan and coil are above the 450~ incoming DPS making WAR less effective at tanking by a big margain.
Because its static mitigation against variable this will ALWAYS be the case. I'm not saying make them the same but I do want both tanks to be viable for everything. PLD proactive, WAR reactive.
WAR DOES NOT PUT OUT MORE DPS! Stop saying this. It's a lie. In fact testing has shown that if you have a WAR and a PLD in same Party then a PLD will out DPS teh WAR because PLD benefits from the storms eye debuff too.
Go back, do some research it's all out there bud and the maths don't lie!
WAR self healing needs to scale in time with incoming dps or there will always be an imbalance!
Honestly, Tera's right. Our health pools allow us to survive large chunks of damage that aren't mitigated as they happen, but our current heals are static and not enough to compensate when the DPS increases. Even if it were JUST Inner Beast that healed based on % that would help a ton for our survivability. It's not like any of our self heals, even combined, need to heal us fully - just enough to make up for the damage already mitigated by PLD. There are other fixes that need to be done, but I think this would even out the two tank classes and make it a choice between what they intended both tanks to be... rather than "do you want to be the tank that can make it to Turn 5 in i70 or the one that becomes stressful for your whole party after Titan HM?" This would also make both classes different enough to stand out without making WAR too much like PLD as our mitigation would be reactionary and PLD's mitigation would be at a baseline and cycling cooldowns.
The only problem: Warrior self heals don't scale as they should when receiving high amounts of damage.
Fix? Increase self heals based on damage taken in last 5 seconds, with a baseline amount set.
Not a hard concept.

I live WAR. I love reactive tanks. But it needs to scale or there will always be an imbalance.
I have WAR and PLD both at 50, played both quite a bit, HM Titan and beyond. WAR is quite a lot of fun but ultimately not very rewarding, it became too much when it really felt like I was just holding back the ground wasting more GCD's on the healers and in coil they just take too much more damage. Yes you can do up to Turn 5 with a WAR, but honestly that's up to your healers more than your actual ability and says more about the healers in your group. For a while I thought it was just people whining but then switching to PLD and watching another WAR tank with even better gear than me just get butchered in Turn 1/2 really solidified my decision to stick with PLD till WAR gets some improvements.
The reason WAR doesn't do well in end game is their scaling is based off THEIR damage, not the mobs damage. When bosses are auto-attacking you for 1.5-2.4k that Inner Beast crit ain't gonna do crap. WAR needs self-healing based off max HP and scale with that, as well as some other changes.
