Goals of the Game: Enjoy what is offered, see savage content (working on that, gone through O1S already.) Also get a relic weapon eventually.

Goals for the Marriage Union: Enjoy the game and run content together, hanging out, maybe do a bit of RP together and maybe play some other games outside of FFXIV together perhaps?

Heyo! I'm on Ultros as well and allthough I'm looking to bond primarily for the glams and mount,I'm looking to meet some cool people as well. So o/

I'm hesitating to put my ad thing back up because I doubt I'll find what I truly am seeking. I don't, my dream is to potentially meet my soulmate (or if that's a stretch my real life partner). I know this is probably a 1% shot and like I said I'm not sure it's wise to even bother with it at this stage. I don't play much either. I've done the MMO scene since 1996 and I've always wished I could meet my significant other doing something I absolutely love. I feel a bit embarrassed putting this up though I probably sound crazy.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. As corny as that line is, it just does boil down to that when it comes to looking for someone.

I know but I promised myself not to get my hopes up in the sense that it's such a long shot to find that special someone in an online game, you know the whole G.I.R.L (Guy in Real LIfe) thing. I just feel I wasn't meant to be one of the few rare people to meet their soulmate MMOing :/. Then again its not really hurting anything by putting it up.

In a way, you are indirectly doing that because the minority will be thinking the same ( other few people like you ), but they won't mention it or say much till they EBed someone and that could make the situation awkward.

Willing to transfer? I don't have any obligations on Lamia. That being said I won't just go off and transfer on a whim. I'd have to get to know the other person a bit first and establish if they we are both truly willing to commit to whatever it is we end up getting into so as to not waste money on my end. I also honor the opposite meaning I don't expect her to just transfer simply because I'm not willing to do so up front. I'm extremely reasonable :).

Do you care if the player in real life is not the same gender as their character?: After giving it some thought I can overlook this since it's being a bit rude on my part to assume that a woman would be accepting of me playing a female character but I'm not willing to accept her playing a male character, so if a woman enjoys playing a male character who am I to disagree :).
Character Race: Au Ra Xaela
Preferred Race: Hyur, Miq'ote, Au Ra. I'm still debating whether I'm willing to accept Roe females. No Lalafel's though, 1. being the obvious size difference, 2. they look too much like children to me and it just comes off as... weird. I have nothing against them outside of that though.
Main class?: Lancer and Red Mage, sometimes Summoner (I don't like the 4.0 changes, give me back my sustain Y_Y).
Dislikes: To be honest I have too many to list here, they are reasonable dislikes though so.
Goals for the game: To just enjoy the game as much as any solo gamer can without tying him/herself to a guild or in this case an FC.

Yet the vast majority from the thread who have success are ones who end up with male characters. It's to be polite and not present yourself as close-minded even though it's not truly that open because well, science. In other words: "I'm not opposed to a person's gender as a friend* but in the end I am still attracted to males so I would rather see my character marry a male."

Some are direct with it but some aren't. But trust me that some do have preferences that aren't actually listed or else they'd be responding to the guys with female characters as fast as the guys with males. The truth is that just how the average male/male won't look at a female/male before female/female, a female/female won't look at a male/female before a male/male. This isn't including other sexualities but it still counts. Even bisexuals have a preference.

Remember we are talking about getting a bite, a first impression. Imagine it from a woman's eyes.

Hot guy, good person, good in-game hubby material, is a guy IRL VS. Pretty girl, good person, good in-game wife material, is a guy.

You are entitled to your opinion. The fact remains it's not going to change how I feel. If I have to "conform" to something simply to find someone then they aren't worth my time. The woman I am meant to be with will very much be open and understanding, whether I find her through this game or not. I simply am not going to change my ideals just to find someone. This is a very low shot to begin with and I'm losing nothing by trying. But you seem to be very hellbent on hammering your point which at this point is really unnecessary.

As a female playing a male character in most games, I have to say a LOT of guys react very weird to a girl playing a male character, even if they play as female themselves. Got asked if I am a lesbian, look like a guy in RL, etc. The best encounter was someone from the FC, guy playing female character, was like "wtf why you play a male character?? " I answered that he plays a female one; as explanation he told me that he prefers to look at a nice female ass. I said "well and maybe I prefer to look at a male ass?" his answer? "???wow, sexist much?? " thought thst was hilarious^^

I found it ridiculous that part "???wow, sexist much" I guess only females were created exclusively to be stared at and male to be covered up and protect their pure innocence like flowers. I think it will depend in people experience, but yes in most case that is what the majority of guys think.

Most guys are going to be playing a female character for the "I love staring at my sexy toon all day". My reasons are different. I always like outfitting female characters, and I can't stand looking at a male all day just not appealing to me.

I have been doing the MMO thing since UO 1996. I have played female characters all this time. I don't plan to change now. I have always felt extremely comfortable with females. Whether I'm around them physically or playing them. I have alot of trauma having to deal with bullies in school from males, not to say I haven't had my fair share of female bullying (I just had way worse with males). I don't do well with the male sex. That being said I'm willing to look past my significant other playing a male should she so choose. That doesn't mean i'm comfortable with it or like it. But I understand and choose to accept it in order to find that special person who would be accepting of me.

Well I am a guy playing male character and love playing a male character not homo but I like to be me on that game i want to be a protagonist in this story got a wide imagination and want to look for a female playing a female charecter but really I find it disgusting that a male plays female and demands a female playing female character like really your sending a bad vibe to be fair when a girl reads your profile " I am a female but male irl" have thought about what is that girl thinking about like really pause for a sec you well know something is weird and ofc I am pointing out the guys who play female character and demands a girl playing a female character. Like really you As a guy that gets "comfortable" while playing a female character then even a girl gets "comfortable" when playing a male character. If you want a female that playes female character then plz as a male play a male character :)

When I changed to Male!Lala, my FC-leader seemed to be pretty mad about it, telling me women shouldn't be allowed to play male characters. I don't even know why he was bothered by that, since we don't have a special bonding or are interested in each other.
