they already told you why though
didnt you read the letter from the producer?

The devs, Visual Works, Sound, PR—everyone did their part and the trailer itself was completed and ready for release at E3. But during our most recent global PR planning meeting, we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle. Wheres the Flood? E3 would have bee a good starting point for the flood to kick off ya?
A trailer alone =/= a flood thats why
they do not have enough info for the flood yet, when they do, within a few short months, we will get it all
at e3 however we will be getting a little info, wether you like it or not
and this was explained already IN THE LETTER, if you dont want to listen and comprehend it correctly, its not the devs jobs to come in and give you what you want when most people understood that
Flood at E3 when alot of people won't even give it a second chance ( without a look) how can a game "Kickoff" if people don't want to look at it even?
Person to Crowd~ Hey look its FFXIV
Crowd to person~ That game? oh it failed in 2010 no need to look at it.
Person to Crowd~ but its an MMO, MMO's grow into a better game overtime
Crowd to person~ But no MMO has Failed so hard it lost 450k subs in matter of week(s)
Person~ ........
E3 isn't the most friendly of places.... and E3 is not for MMO's is for Console games mostly...
To be honest I don't blame them E3 is a western focused event and the bulk of their subscribers will always be in Japan.
Expect the "Flood" at Gamescon or TGS, still a bit dissapointed but I understand the reasoning....but damnit at least let ME watch the trailer!
How do they not have enough for a flood? The client is a few months away. All the info should be there. Maybe you should look into working on your deductive reasoning a tad bit more? .. not all of it should be dropped at E3. that's a given but rehashed shit that is already on lodestone is weak. Keep up the good fight captain. Star if that's the case why would he need to go to E3 ? Esp if " allot of people don't want to look at it".... LOL great faith you have in the game :)
Agreed. Campaign, Campaign Ops, Dancer, Scholar, Sandworm BCNMs, Connection Storyline, Walk of Echos, Voidwatch (considered WoTG content) a new way to XP (Abyssea) a new way to kill NMs (Abyssea) a new way to award casual and hardcore players alike (Abyssea/Voidwatch) were definitely nothing new.
At all. It's almost like you never touched FFXI before. Guess what, Zilart/CoP/ToAU were nothing new by your logic too, since they also added new systems and jobs to FFXI >__>.
You're misunderstanding him here.
RotZ added new jobs, nms, gear, zones(Elshimo Lower/Upper, sky) and end of storyline gave really good gear.
CoP added new nms, gear, level-capped stragies, zones (Tavnazia and surrounding, promyvions, sea) and end of storyline gave really good gear.
ToAU added new jobs, nms, gear that became staples, battlefields, zones (the entire near-east) and end of storyline gave really good gear.
WotG added jobs, open-world content that didn't require anything new, gear that rarely got used, re-skinned zones and 3 different zones (Lavaule, Fort K, Grauburg) and end of storyline gave poor gear.
The mini-expansions he's talking about are the ACP, ASA, MKD which each gave a series of quick quests to a piece of gear that, for most jobs wasn't that good while for the rest it was very good. Most players (that I know) were generally disappointed with such little content.
Then Abyssea came along and brought more re-skinned zones (along with super-easy-mode), level cap increase, abilities/spells, new job combinations, new gear that became staple because of said increase.
Voidwatch, though technically requiring the starting of WotG content, is generally considered to be its own expansion especially with more zones being utilized and more tiers being added to existing areas.
It's quite clear that ToAU was the peak of the game and then slowly started to decline, especially because of lack of real content. It picked up again with the level cap increase, as expected it would and was kind of a last-ditch effort on SE's part to save/revive the game.
Kouji definitely has it right in the long-run. "Who wants to play a [MMO] with an ending?" If SE wants to do it right this time around, they're going to have to keep it going. Non-stop adding fuel to the fire. A good way to kick this off is with said "flood of information" since that can be their new way of approaching things all around.

The latest letter is out but still no mention of E3. Sure sounds like XIV and 2.0 will be keeping a low profile at E3. I don't expect anything more than interviews, not even artwork.
While I am not expect much at e3, they did write this in the letter
But we all know SE's idea on the word "soon" hahaQuote:
We’ll soon be releasing screenshots and videos showcasing the new graphics engine, which will be optimized to support both high- and low-end PCs. I trust you won’t be disappointed with that, nor the PS3 version.
ah, great. thanks lol
Well after they announced the cancellation of the Trailer, the press didn't give them any good feeback.... the 74 pages of comments from the community here don't show much appreciation for it either and the same goes for the japanese forums. Everyone feels left down and disappointed and the expectation are very low.
By now we would have expect some feedback from SE regarding the matter. Either by a rep response to this thread or something in the letter letting us know that even tho they cancelled the trailer, they still got good stuff to look forward to at E3. But by the way he mentioned "some 2.0" info at E3 and then just nothing at all.... no comment, nothing.... To me that just sounds like their new 2.0 info wont blow anyone's mind.
Just like they made the trailer sound like it wanst a big deal and then they cancelled it on us.
its not supposed to blow anyones mind, at least not those of us on here who pay attention to everything so far anyway
as they sai
itl be info to announce 2.0 to the world
they are going to get word out about the games revamp to the world, not to the current playerbase, after all, we already know about it
Hey derpy, It's not going to blow anyones mind. All the info is already out! The info is all over Lodestone, the forums, gaming sites , communities, Pod Casts, FB, Youtube, Twitter, magazines. The word is out and to use your mindset why should Yoshi babysit people when that info is already out????... That's you right? STFU
The real reason they aren't showing the trailer is this:
If they showed a trailer, they would have to reveal the release date. They don't want everyone in the gaming community to notice when they delay it until next year.
MEGATON!

Someone translate the dev response to E3 jp thread.
Onidemon VS Starlord is now Onidemon VS TheVedis!
Lets see how long this now dead and shredded horse can continue to be beaten up....
Sweet, you should make your own thread.
Honestly though, do you guys have shout wars in Uldah, then?
TheVedis, yes you may be more articulate, but filling up this topic after Onidemon says something is pointless. He doesn't accept defeat. He's stuck in his life of no trailers = SE sucks. So let him post. See how many people listen. I have nothing against you or Starlord, but seeing this topic still up and about after 75 pages is ridiculous. I am guilty of that same problem by posting this, but for ****'s sake, lets complain about me being a hypocrite in another topic.
I just feel like this thread has gone on more than long enough. E3 has started - we have E3 topics up already. There's no trailer, OMFG, now just take it like a human being and go! Beating this topic beyond oblivion is useless. We have expressed our disappointment, we have expressed our rage, we have expressed our deepening disgust and hatred of SE. Now can we move onto the actual E3 instead of remaining in this delusional state of chaos this thread has descended into? It's past its expiry date; it probably expired as soon as Onidemon went all butt-hurt and negative.
Request for a dev to lock this topic. Dead horse is soon to be grounded into dust and fluff.
I don't know if anyone noticed this

Whats with that PDF? nothing out of ordinary.
oh it changed, i'm not sure if people got it, i forgot about it lol.
Anyways...just further confirms my initial thoughts that they wanted to make an amazing video but then realized after completing it that it would spoil the current 7th umbral storyline if they released too soon.
And it's good marketing that they releasing it all in one grand chunk rather then multiple bits...which lose their punch overtime. You all can gripe about them not releasing it...but I think if they did they would be terribly not smart...since then people would expect another and another trailer...in time for 2.0 launch.
Releasing things early these days is a means for a marketing disaster...
I honestly didn't have any expectations at all...apart from just the Legacy logo to at least drum up some interest, business and revenue.
This is why we have E3, so games can be given media coverage, not to wait for game designing companies to make their own decision to not debut it and then have to do all the marketing (which we know will now be 0% chance) to resell 2.0 - missed opportunity. :-(
Even our local news here in Australia is massively timelining E3 events to the minute, to not see Final Fantasy in there at all gives me a sense that while SE might have the content available internally and have a valid reason to delay releasing information - who is going to know about Final Fantasy XIV Version 2.0 when it comes out? I really have an expectation now that SE should invest in their biggest marketing campaign since XIII/-2 otherwise the 2.0 project isn't going to take off.
And we get total lame ass excuses like "we don't want to dribble leak the information" - how else are people going to know about this product if marketing opportunities like E3 are totally abandoned? I want some f**king locals in Australia to battle with GRRR! But how are SE going to market this game to MY PEOPLE? My guessing they won't and this game will still be full of fail.[/butthurt]
Edit: I also half-blame forum people who constantly whinge request updates and features to happen instantly in patches...diverting SE away from 2.0 work.
there two team one for 1.0 version and 2.0 version anything people request for 1.0 is worked by the first team anything people request for 2.0 it would be work by the second team.
so there not much issue in that, now about the marketing idea i have no fucking idea what SE going to do to get new players in too this game i just hope it's big or they not going to get much.
