Holy just reading all this makes me wish for locking everything during Cutscenes even more...
No one is obligated to anyone, at all. Now I'm not saying screw first timers buy saying that others are in the palm of the hand of the first timer is selfish in itself as well regardless of the rewards. No one has to cater to anyone specifically. But yes, it is rude if you run off and start pulling everything. Now, when a first timer enters a dungeon people will get a notice. However, if the person doesn't say anything than everyone else will just assume the norm.
Which is pull and not wait and go ham. Basically like if a healer doesn't say anything about not taking big pulls and than the tank pulls big. They will just assume the first timer doesn't care or it doesn't matter to them. This is why the first timer should speak up and say something. Be silent and people will just do what they normally do every day with their roulettes and such and what is considered norm these days.
It's why SE implemented it for everyone to watch the cutscenes in Prae but people abuse the glitch to logout than back in and continue. Some dungeons don't have this but it should be in all with a skip vote feature if the first timer doesn't mind, etc.
Certain dungeon cutscenes cannot be viewed in the inn room due to them being tied to the MSQ that you could potentially be on at the time. They become unavailable to review after it is skipped, I can't remember the exact dungeons that cannot be viewed again in the inn room, but I can confirm that this is a thing. Which is probably why most people in this thread is defending cutscene watchers since some cutscenes can only be seen one time. I think its dumb that this can happen, but it is the way it is. Don't pull while people are watching cutscenes, but also on the other hand it is rude and downright toxic to attack someone personally for pulling early. A simple "hey, next time can you watch out for people in cutscenes?" would be enough.
Let me tell you why it's not selfish because this is the way the developers intended for us to experience the story. The rest of what you are saying is just trying to justify you stance. So is irrelevant. If the developers didn't intend for people to experience the story in this manner they would not have put it in. You want to change things to suit your needs that is the truly selfish part.
Again I don't specifically mean YOU I mean those who complain about people enjoying content that was clearly designed to be watched and enjoyed to further the plot of the story. I don't understand what some people think when they are told this is a STORY centric MMORPG. Not a jump in and hack and slash game.
I mean, I'm not obligated to do anything. The only obligation you sign up for queuing for DF is completing the content to the best of your ability, anything else would be against ToS.
The developers also added a neat feature that lets you skip cutscenes. In your own words, "if the developers didn't intend for people to [skip cutscene] they would have not put it in". And this has been a feature implemented from day 1,and still hasn't been removed.
Again, actively not participating, no matter the reason, is against the ToS and can get you banned, no matter how righteous you think the cause is.
I completely agree. 99% of the time, the new person doesn't even say anything, even if there's an early pull. It's always someone else coming to defend them and being offended for someone else. Also, people don't even politely ask to wait for cutscenes.
Usually it's:
"Any cutscene watchers?"
*silence for 15 seconds*
*someone pulls*
"We have 1. Or not, [expletive x 3]"
I've noticed, if someone politely asks to wait, using please and thank you, as oppose to barking out demands all the time, people are more inclined to wait. Also, if the new person specifically asks if they can watch the cutscene, sure! By all means! But say nothing, and people will go on with their day.
Hold on that poster didn't say anything about not actively participating, he said pulling during a cut scene the person better be able to survive. And yes if you are using the duty roulette you are agreeing to being grouped with anyone same with the duty finder. If you want control of your group then make your own group but don't act like you don't have to have manners in a group situation.
The sheer lengths that people go to, to justify bad behavior is astounding. Seriously. LMAO.
Not necessarily. If the cutscene watcher is the healer, then you 100% have to be able to survive on your own since y'know, you just pulled without your healer.
I've watched impatient tanks wipe us at the end of stone vigil because Isgebind mops the floor with them pretty quickly with zero heals and they get to do the walk of shame back to the boss room. Extremely satisfying.
