When I dont have plenty time to play a game, I play it as a casual, but I expect to get less rewards than endgame players who spend more time in game. On forums here I see many people who expect to get access to everything, rewards from everything for less effort than others. Unfortunately that isnt how MMOs work and how they will work.
If raid has to be challenging, then you wont be able to finish it in one go, then you will probably need to make a party of people who will try it more days in a row. There isnt any other solution to that problem. Ofcourse SE could make easier variant of Coil with story only for people, who dont have time to raid in static. But after that people would start whining that they want High Allagan Gear for easier coil, which would put statics who tried hard to clear it, into bad situation. If SE made every content doable in a few tries, then HC players would have to leave, because there wouldnt be any challenge for them.
People who dont agree that the reward in game should be equal to their time and effort put into the game will always leave, or atleast thats what I have seen in every MMO.
I am not saying this is the only reason why are players leaving. This is just the reason that came to my mind right now. I agree that the lockouts are the main problem why many people leave, because if you arent interested in dailies, alt jobs, crafting, pvp etc.., you have absolutely nothing to do when you clear T9. Fortunately I enjoy every aspect of this game and have plenty things to do all the time.
