With a little research you could have found that feeding only plums will get you snow white. That's been confirmed initially ages ago and many times since then. Oh well, glad you still got what you wanted.

Little update on me. My Old Post with all of my experimentation recorded.

I successfully got back to Rolanberry Red using the established apples > berries route. I fed pears once there and I expect to hit Russet Brown in about 1 1/2 hrs. From Russet Brown I will fed Berries, perhaps landing on Grape Purple, making that a step shorter if I do. After that step, Apples will be next, some time late tonight. Wine Red has GB numbers lower than soot black so it's probably going to be rough to land on.

Hmmm, in that case, I'll watch your progress closely but experiment with a less conventional attempted route to Wine. Berries from Blood to Dalamud, but then pears out of Dalamud. If there's not some Square Enix number voodoo like with the apple path, I'm thinking that'll lead to a stable Rust Red-ish area, and, if so, I might be able to berry out of that back into Wine territory ... again, assuming no number voodoo. Preparing myself for soulcrushing disappointment this time, however - even cautious optimism got me kicked in the rolanberries with how small of a window grape turned out to be.

Royal blue and different fruit.

I have updated my O'Ghomoro berries experiment. I have obtained Royal Blue as expected.

Staring new experiment now:

Scope: I fed my chocobo not more than 20 of each fruit not yet in the chart, to see if I will be able to achieve any colour change. I stopped after the first "Mnementh is beginning to grow new feathers!" message.

Aw, nuts. What were your earlier steps? Did you go the standard Desert > Millioncorn > Pumpkin > Blood > Dalamud route before that? May have to re-evaluate my approach... minus one for the simulator, too, if that's the case.

Pears from Rolanberry Red did NOT take me to Russet Brown. They took me to Regal Purple AGAIN. So I went with pears again.. now I'm on Bark Brown.

Think I'm about to start alternating fruit in the same method I was going to attempt Soot Black with.

And a new feathers message with ONE apple... >.>

Thanks to everyone adding to the sheet! It seems like we've mapped out most of the basic colours. I'm contemplating on starting to experiment with the mixed fruit feedings now. Although at times I'm starting to feel that the dye process is just a 'random colour generator' by SE XD

I have updated Royal Blue exeriment. Valfruit yielded Regal Purple. Now I am trying Cieldalaes Pineapple to return to Royal Blue, which should also contribute to the chart.

Anyone else feeling intimidated at being the 'go to' person for achieving the desired bird color? I'm happy to help, but it's really tough to explain how fruit can potentially result in an unexpected color when the average player thinks it works like a recipe (feed 10 berries and 10 apples and OF COURSE you always get purple, for example.)

I am at this point too! I have pushed around the colours and just hit upon this section of the map so I will happily experiment with you on possible ways out and paths forward...

Like some other players here, I've also started a spreadsheet that will hopefully help other people.
In it I hope to list any and all possible outcomes of everything (which will naturally take a while...)

If anyone dyes their Chocobo after feeding them with a single type of fruit I would appreciate it if they would add it to the list.

I could use a little bit of Advice getting my chocobo from Royal Blue TO Ink Blue
My feedings so far have been as follows
Ul brown - 5 Berries, 1 Pear, 1 Apple
Gloom Purple - 20 Berries, 10 Pears, 9 Apples
Royal Blue - 2 Berries

Any Idea where I should go from there, I have tested combos of fruits on my Alt Char and she got Ceruleum Blue.

Well that one apple from Bark Brown last night landed me back on guess what?................... the pit of hell called Regal Purple.

I hope you have better luck than I have. They need to amend that nice chart. That big yellow circle labeled Desert Yellow.. make a big purple one called Regal Purple Pit.

Most people here will tell you that you don't want to feed multiple fruits at once, you're also not listing any procs, I suggesting reading all information on this chart and then checking how you want to proceed.

I updated this spreadsheet with a ton of information, if anyone has anything to add, feel free to do so.

I'm trying to get slate grey. I was at goob grey and fed equal amounts of deepening fruit until proc. I ended up with Adamantoise green. Which is quite close to slate grey on the number chart. I fed some additional pears until proc again. Hoping it will be slate.

Snapped and fed my bird four proc's worth of berries;

5 berries and four procs later
Results - Sky Blue

. . . well at least its something new? I'm heading for Adamantoise Green, it looks like it's going to take a while.

After landing on Bark Brown a second time, I fed 2 pears, got the new feathers message and ended up on Mud Green.

So Recap. I went Rolanberry Red + 3 Pears > Regal Purple + 8 Pears > Bark Brown + 1 Apple > Regal Purple + 1 Pear > Bark Brown + 2 Pears > Mud Green .

I just keep finding every color except the one I actually want. My First Post with all my experimentation recorded.

Just got the message from Berries #2.. so Mud Green + 2 Berries = ??? (shall find out in the morning)

Does anyone recall what was the maximum amount of the same fruit reported to proc single "new feathers" message? I am trying to decide if I should try 30 O'Ghomoro berries if I manage to get back to Royal Blue.

Thanks to everyone, finally obtained the color I wanted : Chocolate Brown! Why this weird color? Simply because my Chocobo's name is "Chocolat" since 1.0 (not a mistake, it's the french word for chocolate)

Storm blue rage! Trying to get to storm blue. I've read all the posts, looked at the chart, and experimented. I seem to be stuck in a loop!

Othard blue + Apple = Royal blue
Othard blue + Berries = Royal blue
Royal blue + Pear = Othard blue
Royal blue + Plum = Othard blue

Anyone have a suggestion? Because I'm lost.

so annoyingly i got sky blue from seafog blue by adding green. that wasn't expected. since it seems like there's no way to get to morbol from where i'm at on the chart, i went ahead and fed 4 o'ghomoro berries, each of which gave me a new feathers growing message.

i had hoped to find a new way to morbol green from the turquoise end of the spectrum but i don't have tons of spare fruit to keep feeding it to see if that works. so now i'm going to approach it from the blue end of the spectrum since that seems to be a known way of getting there.

i know feeding multiple times and getting multiple feathers messages isn't very scientific, what can i say. got frustrated with my current route and just want to see results now. :)

The max it's taken me to get one is 29, next highest has been 17 twice. In my experience, Royal Blue is most likely the cap of berries (at least coming from the red side). When I hit it, I fed 51 more berries and didn't hit anything else.

Thanks! I guess, I will have to try something else.

EDIT: I have managed to get Royal Blue from Regal Purple. Trying to feed Cieldalaes Pineapples now.

Update on Mini Moose's route to Wine Red:

Desert Yellow to Millioncorn Yellow (Apples x4)
Millioncorn Yellow to Pumpkin Orange (Apples x7)
Pumpkin Orange to Sunset Orange (Apples x11)
Sunset Orange to Blood Red (15 Apples)
Blood Red to Dalamud Red (4 Berries)
Dalamud Red to Rolanberry Red (15 Berries)

At this stage, she became a bit paranoid about falling into the regal pit and tried to avoid it entirely by doing one feather process from pears (3 pears) and two from berries (1 berry, 4 more berries). This number of processes took a JP player from Rolanberry to Wine, but that player had been feeding bulk fruits the entire time, so I anticipate that she will land on russet brown, kobold brown, grape purple, or midnight blue. I realize this step will be inadmissible to this thread's theorycrafting, but to her that's worth a chance at avoiding the regal pit (watch, we'll get it anyway, because RNGesus).
