You can't buy crysta with the steam wallet tho

Can you even buy crysta with steam wallet? Because right now I can't add crysta to my account at all. Not through incognito nor through European VPN.
Everything. If it was only mogstation items I (and probably most people) would be completely ok with it.
You were right about gift codes, though. I can't say 100% if the codes could be redemeed for people outside South Americas but you could get gift codes buying with Steam Wallet. But as people already mentioned, there were other ways to go about this that could fix this problem. And well, yes, sketchy as it gets. Its just the timing, you know? Even if they did lower it without previously warning us, but did so before Stormblood people wouldn't be here as they are right now. Its hard not to feel backstabbed when its right after we bought the expansion.
Interesting read about the reselling. But hey you know if this would be about a big reselling problem why not make gifting region-locked like any other game-code? Or a less radical option; why not make it so that you can only gift to friends in-game? Resellers would be spotted before sunrise like that.
A friend said; imagine raising the bread price in Africa to USA levels to prevent reselling, lol? As long as SE isn’t selling gold there is no need for such weirdness there are way better options to stop reselling. (Another example would be import/export fees IRL.)
They can, the question is: Why didn't they?
They already have a way to tell accounts apart, via the product key that was registered (reminder that you can't register any of the regular PC versions with the steam version), they already have an integration with the steam API, so why didn't they take the steps to cut the people abusing the system while still letting players that were using it legitimately untouched?
Because then Valve wouldn't get any money.
You don't know under what sort of contract is FF XIV on Steam.
As long as you're selling things on their store valve will make money from it, they just take a cut from the sales, like with any other payment service, credit card companies charge companies to use their cards, paypal charges companies to implement their service, every single money exchange service charges their clients, be them people or companies.
It's not. Well, at least it's not in the sense that it was done accidentally. The GM who responded earlier in this thread stated point blank that it was intentional and that's the only official word we have gotten on the subject.
I would, however, argue that it's a mistake in the sense that it was a really lousy idea on SE's part.
41,99 BRL is 13.36 USD, which is less than what most people make for an hour of work here lol. Technically US players still pay more too!
Gamers who take check from work with the dollars never understand ppl who take checks with other currencies. If say easier to understand - you paid 15$ for the game, lets say we all have to pay to Yen bcuz SQEX is japanese company and SQEX said USA can pay 15$ but next day everything changed and now you have to pay in Yen converted to USD and this cost you 45$ oh well because its business and noone cares about your feeling SQEX is JP company and need money as all companies on the world.
And if USA president will say something bad next day to Japan president or country, exchange rate drop down like hell and you have to pay 60$ or even more. And no your boss not gonna pay you twice next month you will got same sallary as always. Its not taken you when you dont have to take money from your wallet but when you have to its now your business too
Thats how we feel
Most likely, but by now I really doubt anything will change. If it would, they already have made an statement on this. SE is clearly don't give a furry about Brazil or Russian market, since this kind of changes always put in balance wins and losses, guess the losses were not that big for them. The amount asked is far beyond our reality and it will bring a major drop of players from SE, but the big chunk of their profits are not us anyway. What is left for us the inform our friends and others about it and so that they don't make our mistake of trusting SE. Time to move on, but never forget about this, specially every time you are looking to buy a game from this company.
probably no? I will use this as base, people here work +/- 23 days a month, 8 hours a week (R$40,56), for R$934 (minimum wage), that would be around R$5,07 per hour, you would need to work for 8 hours to pay 1 month of sub, US gets 7,25 USD per hour so, 2 hours of work would do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (at least that's what google said)
Anything new about this ? Any new response or information ?
We can't let this go cold.
Ppl are saying this isn't a change in pricing but an adjustment of currency. No. Let's change the topic to mog station items then. We were able to use steam wallet to buy optional items too. Those items released before Stormblood could be purchased at a lower exchange rate. When they released Stormblood and jump potions and main scenario skip potions, they set those prices at a higher exchange rate. So they've always known about these prices. It even mentions on mog station that steam prices might be a little different than mentioned on mog station. What they did then wasnt an adjustment of currency. It was a change on pricing thru one of the payment methods. So yes it is a breach of contract.
No it's not 41,99. It's based on dollar exchange rates. You're probably looking at a different type of dollar, as there are two. And it's usually the past day rate. Whoever said it was 41,99 is mistaken.
Why did steam do it for other games and services, such as wtfast and elder scrolls online then? Its not under steams power to choose pricing for services. It's square Enix's in this case.
Whoa, is it just me or is SE removing posts that are suggesting people go to Valve for refunds or encouraging people to spread the word to youtubers/media outlets? I really don't see how such posts could be classed as hostile or argumentative, so what could possibly be their reason for doing so?
Just to correct my last post, the sub may actually cost 41,99 BRL but that would ve for entry as I tried to do standard and it was more than 47 BRL for me. So what you're telling me now is that we're paying 13,36 for a sub that should cost 12,99? (entry)outrageous. I guess Brazilians are paying more than Americans either way, whether u consider purchasing power or the raw prices huh
If that is the case I hope someone has screenshot of the removed posts (before and after) because I myself will post them on twitter and other media. If they're trying to silence the players, then they know they're wrong and they're not yet posting any official news related to this
And yes I'm gonna whine about 37 cents because it's my money and a lot of ppl want equality. Well I guess I should want equality now too then, and btw 37 cents can maybe buy a cup of coffee in a really bad bakery I guess. And I want refund for heavensward as we had to pay the highest price in the world for that expansion.
Well that bites. :(
The post I noticed was missing was a really thorough/informative one, wish I had screen-shot it. I just wasn't expecting this kind of underhanded tactics to be honest. You can bet your buttons that I'll be taking pics from now on though, starting with this page.
I missed this post, but it seems that I wrote something similar a few pages ago
Since I noticed from the beginning that they've been deleting posts that asked people to gank them on steam or boycott them I took care not to write things that even imply to these in my more... informative posts, so that it can let people know about what is going on. I have also been asked to promote boycotts or steam downvote gank in the Original Post, but I will not, in order to not give them the openning they need to delete this whole thread.
I'm worried they may be close to that anyways. It seems like SE isn't planning to make a formal statement on this and the current issue is going to get worse later when they apply the change to recurring payments.
Even though this doesn't impact me on a personal level at all it still very much concerns me. I have friends in the game from all over the globe, rich countries and poor. It takes all of them to create the player atmosphere I enjoy in the game. To the executives of SE they may only be a drop in a bucket that they don't care to spill. But to me, a disabled woman who can barely walk, they're treasured friends who help give me insight into aspects of our world I would have not been given the opportunity to learn about otherwise.
Actually they can delete any thread at any time, the truth is we have no rights here, we paid for the game and we have rights over it, but the forum is just a free bonus, they just don't do it in order to not make them look bad in front of everyone, or at this case, in order to not make them look even worse in front of everyone.
Let me just make clear that I'm not on their side here, or trying to say people should not voice their concerns or protest here, I'm just stating a fact.
So I did not wait for an answer to the next request in the SE support, but they sent a letter with a request to evaluate their service, it all looks like a mockery :DDDDDD
So instead of admitting to it and try to do some damage control its better to just stay silent? At least post something official about this. I am not hit by this and yet I dont feel like I want to play much right now. :/ I also fear that if they go through with this they might try to do something like that in the future to other regions too. As a European customer I already feel like a second rate customer, so I would not be surprised if anything like that happens too.
I think it was a PR manager or someone else who doesn't know anything about inner workings of company. So they may as well have completely another stance on it because it's sure can't be just "making prices fair". Till then we can wait, but how long are they gonna get hit with bad reviews and losing trust of people because of silence?

Seems like the information is starting to spread between journalists, videogame sites, etc.
