Yeah I posted about that earlier, they had to make a new head model without ears for this. Literally going out of their way to be incompetent.

Now that I think about it, if Miqo'te, Au Ra, and even Viera work with "glued-on" ears due to unconventional placing and/or shape, you'd think Hrothgar would also work the same... unless they were supposed to never be given an update, to which case the whole "they'll get exclusive hairstyles over time" was a lie from the get go.
Either way, that's neither here nor there, now that there's an official earless Hroth model, it means there's a possibility that they can work with glued-on ears too.... unless..... they're not actually earless and just have gaping holes in their heads under the wigs due to the ears being 'turned off'!! *cue eerie background music*
Jokes aside, as I said, I don't think the devs or Yoshi are being malicious, but this is how their end of the whole debacle feels like:

Well, yeah, I'm pretty sure Yoshida has said as much in recent statements. Since now he is apparently saying he told us they weren't supposed to receive hairs.
Honestly, I wonder if he even remembers making the statement initially about hairs? For that matter, does anyone actually have a quote from him anywhere saying they wouldn't receive hairs prior to all this?
Does anyone have the official translation which talks about the race-exclusive hairs? I can't find it on the forums (Sorry)

Q: I used fantasia to change to Viera and I'm enjoying it. As they're a special race and it may not be possible, but feel like the number of hairstyles available for Viera and Hrothgar is quite limited. Do you have plans to add more in the future?
A: We certainly plan on adding more, so please wait for future patches. However, it will still be race-specific, so there won’t be as many selections when compared to other races.

It isn't just that they fixed a bug. They fixed a bug on something they just released that didn't really affect anyone other than making Dragoons have the zoomies for a short time. You needed to press Elusive Jump at the right time for it to work. And the worst part is that they didn't add it to the usual list of bugs that get fixed on occasion; they released an entire lodestone statement on it.
As well as having 5 Lodestone updates for Housing, which isn't even properly fixed and won't be until after Golden Week. Nearly a month after the issue happened.
Hrothgar? Sneaking in a vague mention of whether Jandelaine would work with them or not, and then handwave the issues twice using the same crappy excuse that "It's too hard". And as fans kept presenting the exact issues as they looked closer to what was going on, nothing but silence ensued.
I want to make this clear to reixave: it's not crackpot theories, we have evidence of the crap they made AND how to potentially fix it. Regardless of whether it's acceptable "crap" or not, the mere fact that it took them 3 years to get to this is ludicrous on its own. And if you want to yell at people that it's "costly" one more time, I present you every single software designer's first thing at a meeting board: What to do, How to do it, When to do it, for How Long and Costs. It's certainly not a thing that needs 3 years, and while deviations from what's established in the meeting is expected, it sure as hell isn't saying one thing and giving the user another.
As for clipping, the majority of players here already said they prefer availability over clipping. Especially after modders showed us it honestly doesn't look half bad with the clipping going on. Especially also given how virtually everything in this game clips one way or another. The Endsinger's hair clips through itself, and she's literally nothing more than a massive head with oversized hair. It's staring at you in the face the whole fight.
We have been giving feedback. It's easily 100 pages of this thread, it's not all crackpot theories pulled out of our Seagrots. We theorize for a reason, and that reason is that we see what was done to the races and we have people who work with 3D models AND are involved in game development come out and explain what was done. All of this has been repeated a thousand times here. Just be honest, it's not that Square can't do it. It's that they're not listening and pushing this as a low priority for no reason.
This is exactly what was said pages ago xD
YES. It took them a lot more work to do that, because they still had to go to the model and crop off the ears. Meaning their excuse that "Oh it would involve a lot of work and we'd have to mess with the models, because they're not properly configured" doesn't entirely hold up when they literally went to tweak the model anyway.
Call me paranoid, but I don't like how it's vague enough to potentially claim that the answer to that question was for Viera specifically, since the player asking was a Viera, despite their question referring to both Viera and Hrothgar. It didn't follow through either way though, since neither race has gotten any race-specific hairstyle yet.
I want to say that "lack of confirmation doesn't equal denial"... but it's telling when people's reactions to it is this.
Regardless, Viera themselves got shared hairstyles. Not really anything unique.
They NEED to be asked about Hrothgar directly, not just constantly lumping these two races together. Especially since when they are asked about Hrothgar, their looks are perceived as negative by the community.
