Lies. You're gonna be godlike when/if they fix lag.

Its gonna be a repeat of monster hunter:
(warning, story incoming)
Once upon a time, Monster Hunter (1 and 2) had the worst controls of any game ever. Specifically, the camera was controlled by the D-pad and the right analog was used to attack. And this was on PS2 for god sake.... It was god awful. Because you couldn't zoom out super far, camera control played a major part in every encounter. It was honestly a mess.
but the game was fun DESPITE this flaw, not because of it.
At any rate, these games were considered tough. The learning curve was relatively high and death was all but certain the first time you challenged a new enemy.
Then.....
Monster Hunter Tri was released on Wii. At last, players could use the right analog the way it was meant to be used... for the camera. It was indeed the improvement that should have always been. The result was all Monster Hunter veterans complaining that the game had been dumbed down and made easy. The truth is, it only felt easier because the unintuitive controls and gameplay no longer got in the way of actually playing the game.
If FFXIV fixed lag and delay to be on par with just about every other MMO (free or otherwise) on the market, the result would be everyone with relics, and Titan being a joke.
In that case, SE could just randomize Titans attacks, since at that point players will actually be able to "react" as opposed to "predict"
Just my 2 cents
I haven't read through this entire thread because it is far too long, but I have a suggestion for those of you experiencing lag. I know we shouldn't have to fix it ourselves, but I've been using Smoothping, which has really helped make the game's reticles feel like how they are supposed to be. Either way, definitely take a look into it. They have a free trial.
Yes welcome to the new generation of MMO! We will be adding more and more server and skill lag to make the game harder instead of coming up with innovative ways to really make mechanics harder. Difficult should not be based on ones ability to make up for latency, it shoud be based on fun mechanics.
Shit is not difficult, this game has the same mechanics as every other MMO... DONT STAND IN SHIT LOL. But with the horrible ability and server lag it is almost impossible at times to get out of it unless you move before it shows up.
Though the help is appreciated I doubt that will help me, my ping is like 50ms. If it can reduce the additional 333ms that the game has implanted, it might help. I cant even imagine what ppl with 100+ have to deal with. I don't have a lot of problems with titan but mostly because I am casting immediately after I get out of stuff, which updates my location. The problem is I should not have too.
I like the fight, it's intense although it can be argued to delay attacks by .5 sec to make up for the server delay. What I don't like is that it is required to be killed to get access to the raid. It's a nice duty to do on the side to get your relic but it totally limits the player pop for raiding, especially on my server.
I don't want a Rep to comment anyways, I want Yoshida to comment.
Couple days until the free month is over, right? Oh wait, server issues... they extended it didn't they?
When does the free month for new players end?
Tick tock.

This Thread Needs More Attention
http://gregorymancuso.com/wp-content...-of-shrink.gif
So, yesterday, I've found myself a group. We all were well geared and quite experienced. We've been trying to kill this guy for 7 or 8 hours still, we didn't make it. My personal number of attempts is like 100+. I can do it through pre-heart phase, because of constant moving. But after, it's impossible to move all the time. Yep, you can say that I don' know how to play this game. But this is first game in my 12years MMO histroy where I don't have any progress on boss after 100+ attempts. And it's not because I can't react or don't know what to do, but because of retard coding and 0,3ms server delay. I still have 10 or 11 free days. But I'm sick of it. Looks like I'm doing rage quit. Yep, I'm. Even if I kill titan, what's next? Coil? Waste my nerve there? No, thaks. I'm not going to resub, neither should you if you have same problems. This thread has like 65+ pages and still no response from SE. I'm out.
I really really hope that SE gives us something about this... and comes up with a fix...
I have the absolute best internet I can get in my area. I have a near cutting edge computer. I have 13 years of raiding experience in virtually every major MMO that has been released. I have always been applauded as a great player and have even been a top server/world first raider in the past. But I go into a fight like Titan, and I do what I am supposed to do. I know the pattern and move preemptively. On my screen I react immediately and avoid everything, but somehow even though to me it looks like I am doing the same things as everyone else, I die. I know I am a knowledgeable and good player that pays attention and plays well, but I feel like a failure here and it is beyond frustrating. I wanted this to be the MMO I played for years but if this isn't fixed I will not be able to do the things I like to do and will have no choice but to go elsewhere.
As well as knowing my capabilities and my hardware, I can only imagine how horrible this game plays for people on lesser connections and computers... I feel for them, I really do...
lets make this a 100 page thread ;p
will SE respond if this issue gets to the media outlets? or when the subs suddenly drops?
This.
Endgame is completely broken and unplayable.
And they're still ignoring us... pretending there isn't a problem.
This game will follow TOR's trail and will be dead soon (for the western market, at least) if they don't fix this *fast*.
SE, you did an amazing job saving this game from the disaster of 1.0.
Now do it again, or it would have been for nothing.
I've never got surprisingly hit by an AOE. Maybe my net speed makes it easier for me to dodge I don't know. But either way whenever I have got hit by AOE I knew that I was slow or got tunnel vision. I think a lot of people are trying to use "lag" or "crappy servers" as an excuse to their bad skills. Everyone in my guild used to say the same thing, after 5 or so raid days focusing on just Titan now everyone can one shot the whole fight without anyone getting hit by any aoe. That makes me believe that it's really the players skill and maybe learning curve for new MMO'ers.
Australian here. As a player I enjoy a challenge, and would welcome Titan HM or any hardmode boss as long as I know that if I looked like I dodged it, I did dodge it. It's harrying whenever I dodge that *Insert One Hit KO/Super Heavy Damage* ability I have to hold my breath and wait to see if I really dodged it or not a short while later. I know that being a player of the Oceanic region places me in an MMO blackspot, but I've played multiple other MMOs with their challenging content and I've managed just fine with a 250-315 ping. Playing the boss fights in this game forces me to see into the future, which is manageable in content with a recognizable pattern, but eventually this will change if they hope to keep content entertaining no? They can't keep the dance going forever.
Imagine a fight like Titan HM with no step by step move-set and he just chose to do everything completely random, relying on players to react then and there to every ability. It sounds like fun to me, but it'd be hell on players like me and others affected.
Point is, I congratulate those players who have adapted to this current situation, but if SE wants to vary their content in the future by moving away from the 'dance style' boss fights this particular roadblock needs to go. It affects player accountability in fights by forcing them to constantly question whether or not they have played their part based on the whims of the server, rather than by their own ability.
Explain this to me then...
I know the pattern and preemptively move in preparation for plumes. Usually when it lands on you, you are directly in the middle. I usually end up around the same distance from the circle using the preemptive moving. A lot of the time this works fine and I take no damage. Other times I end up at the exact same distance from the circle and take damage even though I am out of it. I can't even trust that doing the same thing twice gives the same results...
Can you imagine a fight like Heroic Faction Champions from ToC in this game. Yeah me neither.
The problem with Titan HM and a lot of the instances is that what you see is not what's really happening. Based on the time of the day, when the server is more populated, server lag happens without you knowing. I've literally had to teach myself how to time in my head when the AOEs are going to happen rather than watch for the animations or ground indicators. For example, this type of lag has been occuring a lot on the Demon Wall in AK. I don't even bother following the line animation anymore. I just move my character based on counting in my head from the when the fight starts.

Ironically bad publicity might be what this game needs to become great.

Something for SE to think about...
SourceQuote:
Gameplay is the biggest detractor in A Realm Reborn. An issue that was brought up in beta and was never addressed is the ability delay in the game. At this point it would appear that SE has just thrown in the towel and said they have done the best they can with it. For those that have not played the game yet here are a few examples. Most enemies telegraph that they are going to perform a special type of attack or maneuver. When they do this will have a casting bar and they will illuminate the ground where the effect is going to take place. Players can run out of this area of effect before the casting bar completes and still get hit by the spell.
On the opposite side of this you can run into the area before the cast bar completes and not get hit by the effect. Also if this an interruptible ability and it is interrupted after about two thirds of the cast bar has completed the ability will still cast. Most people after playing the game for a period of time get used to this. This is not something that players should have to get used to. This is something that the developers should fix. There are too many MMOs out there that get this right. It is unacceptable that an MMO released in 2013 cannot.
Shame that the reviewer still gave Gameplay a 7, and the game an 8.6 or something, even considering that.
"Gameplay is great, except for the core of gameplay"
Hi,
They just replied to a post I made in the bugs section, please update this post.
It looks like a very generic answer to me, but I also feel this is the maximum amount of information, feedback, and concern we will get from their part, so I guess we can give up on reporting this.
No we need to keep this thread active and going so it doesn't get sent into the meh maybe we will fix it pile. They need to see how much it is harming their game and realize they will lose players because of this once said players hit endgame, hopefully this will force them to lead the elephant to proper pastures so the issue can finally be laid to rest!
17 of my guild started this game 3 weeks ago. Fewer and fewer have been logging in lately, and this has been the main reason why. We're now at the point where it's only me still logging in, and I sure won't be here after the first month.
So it doesn't really matter what they do now, the game is done as far as I'm concerned. But hopefully future MMOs will learn from this - it doesn't matter how much polish and fancy cutscenes a game has, if basic combat mechanics don't work because of crappy server coding you've got no chance.
It is generic. The truth is, with what they stated on the GCD thread, I don't think they can fix it. With PvP, and non-scripted boss battles, you will see more people give up. Some will post, but the greater number will simply quietly move on. SE better hope they have the numbers a year from now to keep the game going. I heard the went in deep red with the relaunch.
First off, if they actually intended to do anything or have done anything they would actually reply to this thread; Second to that the response is scripted, generic, bullshit. At this point any reply besides how they intend to fix this in exact detail is pointless, time is almost up for the initial sub from purchase of the game, this is not a 2013 MMO problem, this is enough people wanting to pretend they are some kind of new elite because they play without these problems and the game devs wanting to believe they are just as good as the 'elite' claim they are, so they fix nothing, they just polish.
*1000 chars* *Part II*
Ironically enough the trolls in shining white armor only serve to feed a thread that should not be ignored, it servers as a bitter reminder no matter how much evidence or how much fact you offer, some people are just determined to bury their head in the sand and hum. *cue ostrich*
I could insult you, point out the specs of my rig, compare them to others running the same setup, compare pingtests, traceroute connections, FRAPS fights and show the error; I could tell you all of this from a network engineer's perspective, perhaps offer some helpful suggestions to improve the problem.
If I did this I would only be repeating what other people have been saying for over Sixty Five Fucking Pages; Get your head out of your ass and read the post before you empty your bowels on the forum.
