Predictions for job(s) in the next expansion?

Heh, not including arcanist was a subtle example. But yeah whether you include arcanist likely comes down to views on 2.0 really? I don't consider it an addition because it was included at the relaunch, so the classes available at the new beginning point for the game are all the initial classes. Indicated by arcanist being an option at character creation. That then leaves NIN as the first job added since the relaunch.

I guess also I think some of the arguments for melee seem more like issues with the current stuff? Like if PhyR and Casters aren't distinct enough roles should that be looked at, same if Melee doesn't have enough presence in raids.

God if they did that for Limited BST i feel like it'd be insult to injury since it wouldn't help the current problem with maiming gear and we would have to get MORE maiming gear thats lower than max level XD. I agree they should get their own little category though makes sense to do it down the line when they have more than one.

I count arcanist only because if 1.x didn't flop it would have been added eventually to it later down the line but it's either or when it comes to a person, i aint gonna argue it.

See i feel like they were on the path to categorizing them as one thing in hw with how they did gauss and wanderer's but changed their mind in SB. The melee's tend to have a good spread when it comes to raids (going off the lastest raid tier) with ninja and drg being more used and mnk being the lowest (though reworked so ehhh). When it comes to ranged jobs (as a whole) you have varying speeds for them with high paced smn so slower paced dnc so i just thought it'd be nice getting another slower paced melee...Even though i mainly play the ranged dps. Though thats just me being selfish. Man i cant wait for February i need this info QuQ

Yeah, I'm kinda at a point (mentioned earlier) where I kinda think the categories should just be discipline (DoW/DoM) on one axis and role (Tank/DPS/Healer) on the other with no more relevance to the job than that. Any other aspects to the job should just be a "sub-role" tag because it's kinda already heading that way anyway. Like SMN could be more of a support caster, MCH could embrace the greedy nuker/bursty dps it is in its heart. RDM and BRD could be noted as "hybrid range", melee magic could just be added without it being a whole new dps sub-role, etc.

If Martyn sets up the Blue Mage guild proper in the 5.45 job quests, I could see it happening tbh. Current story has already shown Martyn has a few BLU trainees besides us. If the new jobs start at 70, then I'm sure Azuro the 4th and 5th could replace us at the Celestium so we can go on proper adventures as a Blue Mage :)

Assuming the layout of the squares isn't just random or a misdirection, that suggests the next two jobs are a healer and a ranged physical DPS. I think at least musketeer/corsair/gunner/(Still hoping)gambler are a sure fire set for the ranged slot, and while the healer leans chemist/apothecary I think that's still more nebulous.

When you go to the Japanese amazon page to purchase them the other two seem to be a LB pin nada Protect pin so i don't think it's a hint personally

Yeah seems like an example where context is pretty important.

From what I can dig out, it looks like they're a gachapon thing you can get from the Square Enix cafe in Osaka, so the question marks are more to maintain an element of surprise at what you could end up with. And the amazon listings look like resellers.

The tweet shows the pins in capsules and it seems like other similar tweets follow a pattern of the featured product being available now.

I do think Protect is a weird choice though. I get people mourn it's loss but still, that's too much of a meme.
Also why did BLU get Glass Dance when it could have had Flying Sardine?

Someone needs to scratch BLU off that button list, it's not even good as a limited job.

I'd bank on healer and caster dps, just to keep parity. It's those 2 and physical ranged that don't have 4 to a role yet, and they just did dancer so I doubt they'd go back to back. Chemist healer seems like a gimme at this point, fits the assumed theme of the expansion and has ff background. No idea what they will do for the caster, but I think whatever it is, it's going to be wholly made up for ff14. If I had to take a shot in the dark, necromancer.

I also think they will announce beast master as the next limited job, not sure they will continue blue past 70.

BST is a limited job that can use any weapon in the game; aka monk-ish Ran'jit and his dragon.

A bigger plot twist would be that they don't add it at all and they add a completely different limited job all together XD

Also since 5.45 is before the announcement there's a slight possibility that we see a new job hint in Delubrum

I'm thinking BST, but, frankly, that could be seen as way too powerful.

This post might prove to be hilariously wrong by next weekend, but I really doubt they're going to reveal another ranged DPS of either physical or magical flavour.

A melee feels more logical to me, either as a 4th STR user and a 2nd maiming gear user, or as part of a gear streamlining where all the STR DPS use the same gear, all the DEX share gear, and all the INT users share gear, leading to 4 of each.

MNK, DRG, SAM, new job = Striking DPS.
NIN, BRD, MCH, DNC = Scouting DPS.
BLM, SMN, RDM = Magic DPS.

Maybe I'm bias though, none of the caster ideas I've heard seem very interesting to me & I doubt it'll be two physical ranged jobs back to back.

They share more than that.
Ruin, Bio and Physick are on both jobs except they evolve differently and Physick is completely useless on SMN.
They share the Aetherflow mechanic, it also evolve differently.
Resurrection is also shared.

They share all the bases that comes from ACN, it only evolves differently but everything is there.
They also share the poorly coded pets.

Scholar technically only inherits Resurrection from Arcanist, every other action is under the Scholar section on the actions tab.

They could always make a caster that plays like HW mch. I would love to have a job that plays like HW range physical without the range physical going back to casters.

My guess is Chemist and Pictomancer. Chemist seems pretty obvious. My speculation about Pictomancer is because of Alphinaud. He is the only of the original Scions who doesn't really have a unique job (I don't buy Academician - that's a fancy word for Scholar). He cultivates his skills as an artist, and could potentially tap into that ability, and turn it into his own kind of magic.

Fingers crossed for news of a chemist like healer and geomancer caster this Friday. 5.0 the Geomancy school opened in Kugane, and 5.3 brought the potion healer nod. As well as the only other npc in the game to share a weapon model with the Geomancer npc was brought back into the story.

Rammbroes from the 1.0 Crystal Tower story and the Geomancer npc are using the same rattle/mace, the only npcs to have been seen with it over the years. Seeing him in the 5.3 story reminded me about the mace.

With BLU getting Malediction of Water as a dps spell from the spirits in Swallow’s Compass my hopes are high (probably too high) for Friday.

Not necessarily, since the NPC that opened the Geomancy school in Kugane uses “Qi of” Water/Air/Earth rather than the Malediction line used by the Geomancy spirits in the dungeon.

I see. I didn't notice that they had different names even though I knew there were two different types. Out of curiosity do you want geo more for the elements it uses or because you like geomancer as a concept/job in the older games

i would love a Synergist Class! Bring on Bravery and Faith as skills similar to how Divination works granting 3 kinds of skills work to build it up to be able to use one or the either.

I prefer it more as the concept as a job as a whole more so than the elements it may have. Loved it in the older games and really fell in love with it as a support caster in 11. Liked it been more when it started showing more feng shui roots this time around.

I wish it was more about the elements for me though, my friends are all shocked I could never get into Shaman in my Warcraft days. Just a different feel I guess!

my expectations are currently Apothecary (healer) and Geomancer (caster DPS) with Beastmaster as a limited job that will make everyone as depressed as BLU

The one person we've seen in 14 is ranjit and he seems pretty assassin like.... Druid like beast master? Sage makes me think of psychic with the stance and weapons

Judging by new expansion trailer, there's a fair possibility the new job will be wielding Great Scythes.

We also have multiple beast masters we know about. The ones from ilsabard and the ones who get the beasts for the colosseum in uldah (even though they are more tamers) so having another "beast master" isnt so far fetched to have the basic concepts from ranjits family line in the source.

Assuming Yoshi isn't doing the 'obvious' thing, I'm gonna go with Rune Fencer being the melee job, cause those shirts are metal and Tactics Ogre was pretty metal too.

I get the hype but aren’t those two shirts a little too obvious? I think the reaper/scythe is probably the red herring.

Sage was a bit of a surprise, the job is rare and the weapons are unique.

As for the second Melee DPS, it's probably a reaper due to Yoshi-P's shirts, Ran'jit fighting style and possibly a little clue in the Endwalker trailer.

If it was Runic Knight/Rune Fencer, it would've been the poster job. Paladin was chosen because it was the closest thing to a "Warrior of Light" job. Rune Fencer/Runic Knight would've been a good candidate for a WoL job.

Imma say Death Knight. Scythe weapons where a Dark Knight's weapon in 11 and they where a dps class. Since we already have Great Sword Dark Knight in 14, Scythe wielding dps Death Knight seems like a similar option. Wasn't one of the special characters in FF Tactics a Death Knight too? Or am I confusing it with the group name, Death Corps or something like that.

Where are people getting the scythe from though? Yoshi P’s shirts are never a “at face value” hint, and then the talk of Zenos with a scythe, when has the WoL ever gone along with the job from an enemy?

Granted they could always start a new trend but it seems pretty unlikely that Zenos of all people is going to match the weapon/job of the WoL.

Both shirts Yoshi-P had on was the Grim-reaper with a Scythe.

This can mean many things but if the Job is based on the Death/Grim Reaper the Scythe Job is one possibility since the Grim Reaper's weapon of choice is the scythe.

Of course it can be just a trick and the real hint is just the new Melee Job is some how related to Death.

However, that is the only hint we have from Yoshi-p being Death and the Grim Reaper
