How I would love to be able to use Dragoon jumps to avoid attacks and jump over gaps. So many Attacks on Titan foiled by hitboxes.

Probably not actually unpopular, but I wish SE would stop with all the jumps and drops in dungeons. I've started just skipping the path between the second and third boss in Rabanastre because it makes me sick dealing with it, I alt-tab away for the drops in Aquapolis and Uzair, and I spent the rest of the night with a headache just dealing with that one part in Byakko. Please, just stop it already.
Speaking of which, why do NIN get the lower damage from falls and not DRG?
Would Dragoon having a both a unique and higher jumping animation be an unpopular opinion? I just remembered thinking of this years ago and wondered why no one ever brought it up :o
I never thought of that! That is pretty silly.
Edit: Oop! Sorry for double posts!
Another thought I just had about Dragoon. It lacks a straight arrow forward jumping skill! Basically a rush skill like Monk's tackle, Warrior ramming thing and Samurai's rush slash. I first noticed this lack of an ability while recalling how FF Dissidia Kain had a forward jumping skill. It'd be a nice ablity to have for another quick jump in when our other jumping skills are on CD.
Depends on if there's open time in the rotation and whether there's an appearance of waste.
If, say, you got rid of Heavy Thrust and then made Jump a weaponskill in exchange for added damage, but thereby made it so that it couldn't clip into surrounding GCD uptime, you'd probably get a fairly positive reaction.
Dragoon actually has one better. Not only does it have a charge like Shoulder Tackle on a 1-minute CD, but also an equidistant freely aimable mover on a 30s CD. All in all, Dragoon is by far the most mobile job in the game.
I dunno if it's been touched in this manner, but seriously, if we can have fingers and nails (from the Ananta), why can't our feet look like...you know, feet, instead of blocky shapes with lines that represent toes??? I don't have that much of a foot fetish, but it bugged the hell out of me in 4.0 when Fordola was sitting on the table - those blocky shapes that were supposed to be feet really took me out of suspension for a moment. If we can't get barefoot animation, at least give us a better look for feet - surely if our fingers look good, something similar can be applied. Strangely enough, they actually look better if you're just coming out of water and are wet.
@Shuri: while I can appreciate that it has a gap opener and a gap closer making some really powerful mobility options, I still wish Jump itself acted as a gap closer as well. Its the only jump that doesn't double as mobility, and as is spineshatter is dps first so I will often find I already popped it to keep my LotD eyew cycling when I need a gap closer.
Of course Jump would have the same issue but 30s cycles a lot faster than 60s.
Tl;dr: imo Jump shouldn't plop you back at the spot you cast it from and just act as a gap closer.
Not so sure if this is unpopular, but it probably is ...
I actually prefer runs with newbie buds. They are nicer, funnier, friendlier people than most; untainted by the grind of repeated endgame content and all the paraphernalia that goes with it. In time, they'll probably grow to become as jaded as the rest of us, but for now, they're relaxed, and great to spend a few minutes of your life with.
Ranged using limit break when there's a melee in the group.
Probably does nothing to dps, but it just irks tfoo me...
I apologize for not specifying Cid in XI, but you asked for it...
Don’t get me started on the wardrobe malfunction he wore for pants.
-Alphinaud and Tataru are the best NPCs period (also I ship them but shhhhh).
-So when Yotsuyu was still herself, everyone could recognize her but now she lost her memories, has a hat and no one can't recognize her anymore ? That's some lazy writing. And no it's not like Superman where his Clark Kent personality comes with lots of physical and behaviour quirks in order to fool people.
Also she didn't deserve a redemption arc. Fordola's redemption on the contrary is fine and logic.
-Gridania is a boring city.
Oh quite the opposite with Yotsuyu/Tsuyu. People would recognize her, so they move carefully and try to draw as little attention as possible. In a big city like Kugane, it'd be easy to become just another nameless face (one of those "you look familiar. . ." kinda things), but back in Doma, people know her. They know what she's done. There's no way people wouldn't remember her face.
-I hate gunblades as a weapon type and think it should just stay in FFVIII (and thus hope a gunblade class is never added to the game)
-horse mounts have no place in FFXIV and instead chocobo mounts should replace them
-Kugane (but not Othard/Doma) was unnecessarily shoehorned into SB's storyline and could have easily been ignored without any real effect to SB's story.
-I actually like the Armoury System (base class upgrades to Job) as well as the old cross-class system
-the HW and SB Jobs should have base classes and start at level 1 instead of level 30/50
Master recipes should record completion status.
-small houses should've have never existed. Only medium and up
-Serves SE right for not having the foresight to limit the amount of houses players can buy. Those who bought who bought a whole ward should be allowed to enjoy it.
-Houses shouldn't be demolished unless its owner has been unsubbed for over 2 years
-When it comes to the storyline, all dgns related to it should be allowed to be soloable ONCE for seamless transition. Subsequent playthroughs need a party.
People need to stop bitching about Mogstation stuff.
Housing needs to have stricter rules due to the amount (read: lack) of plots.
English localization has been everything apart from actual localization; poorly executed dialogue, raped words and phrases people have to google, URIA -effin- NGER.
Characters made detached and non-relatable as well.
DRK should be turned into a DPS class.
Personal Loot needs to be implemented ASAP.
I find it a bit strange that everyone forgets Lightning uses a gunblade. It wasn't a major part of the iconography like ones used by Squall or Seifer, but it's there. And we can use it in FFXIV thanks to the old event.
I don't understand why everyone is so against a gunblade job. "It's a stupid weapon" seems like an outrageous excuse when FF has had many jobs and characters with ridiculous weapons ranging from paintbrushes, rackets, flutes, surfboard swords, bells, and astrometers. A slashing bayonette is a hell of a lot more grounded than people realize.
I'm inclined to believe that a gunblade based job would be incredibly popular. There's a lot of people who are very fond of such aesthetics but do not necessarily speak up about them on this site.
Aside the spellblade archetype, a gunblade / gun + blade combo is one of my favorite archetypes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elDCvhhnxbo
Unpopular opinion: FemRoes are the prettiest of all the female races. Hands down.
It was a mistake to use the same framework from 1.0. They should have dumped it and started from scratch. Its preventing the game from advancing in meaningful ways. Dungeons shouldnt have a timer. Triple triad should be able to be qued for battle on the spot like pet battles in wow. Aoe markers shouldn't have a massive delay of getting out of them. Having a repair all gear button shouldnt "crash the server". PotD should have more variety in how you go between floor other than kill stuff until it opens.
To be fair Squall's (and Seifer's) gunblades and Lightning's gunblades are rather different. Squall uses ammo to vibrate the blade for extra damage (thus why you need to hit the button at the right time.) while Lightning's actually turns into a gun to shoot things ala RWBY. Meanwhile FFXIV also works a bit differently though closer to Lightning than Squall as there is no transforming of the weapon, but the gun part is still a gun instead of making the melee attack stronger.
As much as I enjoyed VIII, I actually kind of hope we don't get oscillation (gun)blades, seeing as any oscillation caused would reduce initial penetration if even possible to occur at a node of percussion. (It's not, btw. At best you'd have to rapidly rend from the node of percussion back to where the blade oscilates nearer the tip and the oscillation would have to somehow occur conically, rather than flapping the blade as one left-right along its width.)
