So that's how you justify the concern? Fear that they're lying? And as I said a page ago, vanity drama? Who cares if they bring it back so that more people can enjoy the little quest and get the vanity gear?
The housing -is- a lot more affordable now than when it first came out as well. I can pull up the patch notes if you want, or you could do it yourself, but it'll get cheaper still once the prices go down. Assuming people don't buy them up immediately because they are so affordable. If you think about it logically though, they already have innrooms, housing, and then personal rooms in the housing; why do they need to create another specific section for housing? Their concerns for dataspace is not unfounded. Down the road, it might be more feasible, but for now, the Dev. Team is working way overtime to try and catch this game up, so if they misrepresent something, I think they can be cut a little slack.
Should probably stop ignorantly judging people that support their Dev. Team just because you think you can see the future.
And tell me even one P2P game that went this direction? Trying to give out points against you who are against this is like speaking to religious people, gosh. Whatever, I will keep playing this game, maybe even buy the mount cause I didn't buy CE. You can't keep crying about minor things instead of enjoying the game, peace.
Problem is that I've heard pretty much the same speech from other games that went Pay 2 Win and they are already selling retainers as a premium service which gives crafters a significant advantage on the mb. To a lot of developers, if they aren't selling the absolute best gear in the game then they don't consider the cash shop P2W. Also, "concepts" are always subject to change at the whim of the developer.
I really hope they stick to their guns on that point but keep in mind that even Yoshi-P has told us several things and then did other things (housing prices for example). I have faith in them, I'm just skeptical based on my own past experiences.
Because they announced it, and claimed they had been "working on it" for months. Do you really believe it took them months to change it to "everyone can buy" from "only FC leader can buy"?
Make up your mind, you either believe everything they say, or you don't. I don't have any issue whatsoever with the Lightning fate coming back - but it shows they were flat out lying when they previously stated it would never come back. They have lied in the past, it is up to you to decide whether you want to be 100% gullible and believe them completely every time they say something or take it with a grain of salt.
Do I have to be 100% either way or can I have some freedom of thought? Make up your mind/ You don't mind them bringing back the Lightning thing, but its significant enough of a lie to base the future of the game off of? Hokay
@DoctorPepper While there may be the possibility down the road, I don't see it happening anytime soon. XI has been going on for over a decade on the subscription model, and Yoshi himself has take up the defense of that model as well, so I'll believe when they say, "No Pay to Win," for now.
@Riepah More like, Cash Shop = Buying decals for your car.
Paying the subscrition = "The fuel you ordered and paid for is ready!"
Cash Shop = "But if you want it you have to pay us again"
I don't understand how people think anything going into the cash shop is "extra." How do you distinguish a minion or mount that is, and always was, intended as an outside cash shop item, versus one which could have been earned in-game from a quest, dungeon drop, of FATE?
Do you think the devs at Square Enix devote their main working hours only to "essential" game content, and then all the cash shop items are personal hobby projects they design in their spare time? It is all just game content, guys. There is no "essential" versus "extra." Square Enix is not working harder, churning out more items, to compensate for the cash shop's inventory. The only "extra" involved is the extra money they now expect you to pay for it.
A week or two ago, you would have seen that Sleipnir mount and thought "Wow, awesome! Finally, maybe we can do the Odin FATE and win his mount!" You would have looked at the Pumpkin Head hat, and assumed it would be part of a Hallowe'en-themed holiday event quest or bought from an NPC vendor in town for a few gil. You would have seen the Y'shtola, Papalymo, and Yda minions and assumed you could get them similarly to how you got the Minfillia and Thancred ones. But now that you know a cash shop is coming, you're suddenly so sure that these are all "extra" vanity things that were never meant to be in the game anyway, and that the base game is not lacking for anything because of it.
"Just play the game as you normally would, and don't buy from the cash shop if you don't like it." Unfortunately, that is not how it works. How I normally would enjoy the game is to pay my sub and have access to any content that came out. Now, an increasing amount of items are being stripped from the main experience and sold off for extra money. My subscription dollars are literally buying less content than I used to get. It is harming the game, whether I participate in the cash shop or not.
That's funny, I had no idea that all the minions, mounts, and unique gear skins in the game so far were actually just "free gas" provided by Square Enix, out of the goodness of their hearts. I was under the impression that content like that was included in my monthly subscription fees all this time -- or at least, it sure seemed to be, and the devs never made any claim otherwise. I had no idea that these things were merely extra gifts, and not really part of the game I bought and paid for. It's a good thing we have people like you who can discern these things for us, so that we can all be educated. I wonder why nobody ever mentioned this fact before the cash shop was announced, though..??
.... people CALM DOWN... holy smoke I came back here after 6 hours... people are still raging...
Cashshop has not been out yet AND director said no pay 2 win on stage live during fanfest.
Get a gripe!
Cash shop hasent ruined LoL. I see the cash shop here to have much the same function. I'm looking forward to it! My only question is, will most of the cash shop stuff also be available to get in game for limited times? Like the holiday events? or will there be things ONLY available in the cash shop? Probably a mix. Sweet! just answered my own question.
ppl should srly wait for more news..i for one find it more surprising that we dont have any more info on it by now since its such a big chance
also as far as the 3 minion and the horse goes..they havent said if it is cash shop only or not yet..they only said that they are new things
Wow, never seen so many people crying about superficial stuff before.
Thank you SE for even thinking of providing some extra stuff for us!
I guess every buisness dreams of intelligent customers who realize this stuff is extra and I don't need to buy it unless I want to? umm... ok...
Oh, BTW, I have no plans to buy anything extra from the cash shop. I just don't understand why the insane amount of backlash... the nearest i can figure is "ya, but what IF...!"
Cosmetic is fine. I'm ok with this.
If you read my post which is right above yours you will see that there are some players who actually tries to aquire most of the vanity stuff as their way to progress.
I for instance couldnt care less if we could buy the best gear from the cash shop. That doesnt matter to me like vanity stuff does.
But it would upset a lot of ppl just like adding vanity stuff does
Well, my apologies for all the people in here with huge complaints about this. I shouldnt even have come in here and tried to address the insanity...

Does anyone have the screenshots of those slide for the cashshop items during the Dev Q&A? I would like to review them. Maybe OP can put it up at the first post.
Well, that instantly devalues the subscription that used to pay for all content. Now it doesn't.
So - from here on out, it will just be up to them to decide what a sub covers and what it doesn't. Have fun with that. I would rather just play a F2P game that is upfront about what you pay for than to deal with a company that just makes it up as they go.
I wonder if on the JP forum this subject went viral too.
Yes because they haven't lied before (housing) and because other companies (NCsoft, Bioware, Bluehole, Trion, etc) haven't all said exactly that when they opened their cash shops: "it's just a little vanity"...and before you realize you have almost no longer fluff items in-game, but tons on the CS and later they add buffs, keys, and other "comodity" stuff.
How long does it take for a habit to become a tradition?
That's why ppl is afraid, because of SE lying record + what they've seen in the past. Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me
didnt say i believe one way or another...i for one dont care...they can give it for free to every1 for all i care....what im saying is we still dont have any idea whats going on with the cash shop, yet ppl always asume the worse, heck even if its on the cash shop i dont care
ill care if they start adding new stuff on it every week instead of every now and then, ill care when they add exp boost item etc
what im saying is atm we have way too few info on the damm thing
The old saying isn't about an intellectual and his money.
And those "what ifs" are based on industry trends and company tendencies to copy each other. Those "what ifs" will soon be reality and people will be defending the next big thing as just people complaining about "what ifs".
There was once a time when full priced consoles games didn't have microtransactions. That too is becoming a thing of the past.
Honestly, I do not want F2P. I rather have subscriptions. I've been on several F2P games, everything just end up terrible boring at the end.
I believe subscription = better development funding in consistent manner. Rather have a fluctuating development time and money issues in most Free2Play MMOs.
There is no progression on the game content development (in depth) GW2 has bi-weekly update but those contents only lasted 1 day. That is almost nothing. I get bored after I finished every new content under 1 day. They are funded by cashshop only, all vanity and extra boosters.
Did they say whether houses could be bought in the shop?
