This is pretty much where I am at.

You know I'm starting to lean in favor of it, Kilta has made some solid arguments here....no honestly, I'm starting to think that majority of us who will take the game on full time will most likely have a Linkshell and will assume a role in that LS and do almost everything and beyond with that LS (or company or whatever), so we wouldn't have any problems picking up some randoms we don't know that screw the fun up for everyone. This system can be good for the game and good for casual play, so its not all bad.
My thoughts on this are the same. I have heard absolute horror stories from dyed-in-the-wool World Of Warcraft players that this feature completely destroyed whatever semblance of community they had. Hard for me to imagine, but they said it made the players more distrustful of each other and less cooperative. That's their words, not mine.
As for me, I am not so hostile against it because I never experienced it first hand. But their hostility does make me pause ... and think. SE cannot afford to make any more mistakes with FFXIV. This is one feature they may be better off leaving out.
Well, there are plenty of people who aren't really looking to make lasting friendships, they just want to play the game. It doesn't necessarily have to mean they are rude and self-serving.
Those are the people LDFs should be for.
SE DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE. i want new ideas in a Final fantasy game.. THERE IS NO WRONG IN THIS IDEA. i want to do the instances not shout and wait for a party. how many never did nysle? or dynamias? or eninhjar? waiting for a good LS is stupid. PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE. In FF11 if you did not spend months in an LS and do every single stupid event that you did not want to do then you got nuthin. If this system is added people who are in a LS and people who are NOT in a Good LS have chance to complete the instance. this is a WIN idea.
Playing an instance is FUN. shouting and looking and seeking for a party to play the instance is BORING.

Totally against this for 2 reasons:
1. Lack of social aspect
-So I'll do an event with someone on another server and likely never see them again when it's over? Not a lot of fun in that now is there?
2. More chances of getting a griefer in the team.
-If it's limited to my server I can make a sh*t list with ease and know who not to go with, but if you lump the servers together like that I'd need to rely on something like BG to see if they're trustworthy.
All and all: Pros outweigh the cons.
People are misinterpreting what others are saying. People don't mind auto grouping and a fluid party grouping system *within* a given server, they don't want to shout "LFG" for hours, don't argue something that's not there. People are just against the cross-server portion of it. It has nothing to do with instancing and nothing to do with seeking parties.
The don't use it argument doesn't really work. The effects on the community will be felt. I have felt it in other games, I know what I experienced. When dungeon finders came out they were the only way to get groups because people can't be bothered forming pre mades anymore. Unless the content is incredibly hard people don't bother making server only groups unless it is linkshell only. This feature really hurts when it comes to forming friendships. FFXI had a great community because you NEEDED each other.
This tool is good for people who don't care about really interacting or socializing, which to me defeats the purpose of an MMO entirely. People join the groups, nobody talks. One wipe and people usually leave and don't listen to each other. There is zero personal accountability, reputation means nothing when you will never play with the person again. You will manage to play with some good players too but they are on a different server its not like you can do anything with them.
This feature has ruined other games for me, and if FF14 adds it I won't stick around. I have been out growing MMOs because while I like casual content, there is no emphasis on community anymore.
