Don't get me wrong, atma is crappy in it's own right, and wish it did not exist to begin with, but there isn't a reason for SE to adjust it unless the Zodiac quests carry over to the expansion. Which might not happen. SE hasn't been direct, but there has been hints towards new weapons in the expansion.
Yeah I agree. It's been long due to up the drop rate for atmas at least. It's honestly way too time consuming especially when you have multiple characters & classes at the Atma point. Novus I'd say can still wait but Atma definitely needs to be eased up come 2.4. Not everyone has so much free time in their lives that they can do that much grinding for that. I mean they say they're planning to make the game for all sorts of people but everything still seems like it's hardcore player oriented, and even for hardcore players, this is rediculous.
So if they did turn 7 with the rng drop rate as is now, with only 1 chance per week to try and collect 12 of them. You would be alright with a change in drop chance? Attaching difficulty on top of insane rng is preferable for you? Trying to find out what difficult content has to do with this really.
It's not at all about the monsters. It's more about how much time it takes up and how low it's rate is. It's time it takes up doesn't hold up to how much it's worth. What I would suggest would be high level fates like Odin Behemoth & Svara that would occasionally drop atmas that you can only get 1 in the atma location per week like ST & SCoB stuff
What it meant was you are not performing any hard task to get a chance of getting an Atma, so an incredibly low drop rate is understandable. Killing low level mobs take no time at all and requires no use from your brain to complete it. Increasing the drop rate, very likely people get theirs done in less than a day and the quest becomes a joke. I would settle for an alternate solution to obtaining them, but increasing the rate, people will plow through that phase and that is likely not SE's intent to make any relic phase too easy to get through.

Sorry, can't agree that just because atma drops aren't tied to high end content that they can't ease up on the acquisition of them. Especially considering what the atma weapon actually is.
The way this game is designed, barriers to lower-level items should be eased as time goes on.
Meanwhile, getting atma now is actually harder than it was when the Zodiak quests were first implemented. When we farmed our first sets of atma, we had the luxury of FATE-roaming zerg hordes that mowed through FATEs in one or two minutes (sometimes even faster than that).
Now, clearing a FATE may take people five to 10 minutes, depending on the FATE (and some can't be cleared solo). Far fewer FATEs/hour means far fewer chances to win the RNG, which means much less likelihood of getting atma in a timely manner.
Honestly, the drop rate should have been increased already, just to account for far fewer people spamming FATEs to force them to drop.
Honestly, I thought this through and there's a very easy solution to the problem. Increase the droprate of atma to 50%. Change the required atma to 16 atma per region. Bam. Atma is fixed.
1) It requires, on average, the exact same amount of effort/time that atma currently does. 400 fates.
2) It allows for the more "casual" playstyle that the relic should be.
3) Players like seeing progress. Grinding for an hour and getting 3 fates > grinding for an hour and getting 0.
4) It almost completely removes RNG from the picture.
Here, I decided to graph it out. I used 1 million samples. Green is 3% chance and 12 atma, violet is 50% chance and 200 atma. http://i.imgur.com/6Yn1Q0w.png Both average out to exactly 400 fates required, but the std deviation is much much lower, it's nearly entirely unlikely you will require more than 500 fates. X axis is # of fates, Y axis is # of times the last atma was gotten on that fate.
As a reminder for those against easier to acquire Atma, remember that you can buy the Alexandrite with Allied Seals.
So you propose it cost 1500 seals per Atma? As a way to discourage just doing hunts for Atma?
This is jst my opinion.
After doing around 10 fates, I realise its just a waste of time so I dont even bother to farm for them. firstly, doing low level fates repeatedly is not even rewarding. For those replies that say u can earn gils and seals along the way which u can spend on vendors, thats jst bullshit because the amt earned is so little its redundant. I say its a flawed game mechanic, maybe if SE lets us hunt them without equipping our zenith weapon and able to farm them cross-classes as long as the quest is undertaken, that would make sense. Either that, or increase the drop rate of atmas which is the point of this thread. if not, this part of the quest will remain a barrier for casual players to continue the zodiac quest line.
For those that say that yea its suppose to be designed like that so it'll be a grindfest where it is suppose to not be easily attainable, i think u muz have had too much time or pretty hardcore.
They will ease Atma, eventually, they've said as much.
No, it's not time yet. I expect a 3.0 change. No sooner.
I wont mind them nerfing atma drop rates, i want to build novus/nexus for other classes too.
Honestly that's my main issue with it, I have several classes that I enjoy playing but dear gods trying to up-gear all the classes (since SE did allow us to master all on one character) is mind numbing.
I rolled around and got 2 atma this morning after about 2 hours of grinding they hit back to back almost in 2 separate zones, figured I was on a roll...spent the next 6 hours on the no atma roll instead. Curses to central shroud.
