So before I complained that the cost was too high, but that was mostly because the methods for gaining GC tokens are boring as sin and incredibly slow, but I suppose if it's for AF weapons then it's a fair price
Still, would be nice if we were given some new quests/methods with which to earn them

I wonder....

If it takes 25,000 seals to get a GC item, which can then be used to get another item, which will then be used towards an AF weapon.... is this.. not what people wanted?

There were some suggestions that the drop rate of DL gear was too low, and doing 100 runs with nothing was disheartening. Suggestions included an incremental progress towards a goal, so they would know they would eventually get something and roughly when.

By using GC Seals as the means of incremental progress towards the AF Weapon, is that not in fact the community being given what they asked? Would they prefer to go back to a 0.01% random chance of a drop of the AF Weapon where they could get it the first time, or not after 1000 runs?

I admit that 25,000 seals is not trivial to get, but also find it an amiable solution for those who want consistent progression versus pure randomness of the chest gods.

I went to do the level 30 GC solo leves the other day and was shocked to recieve a quest i had never gotten before, I am assuming because I had risen in the ranks. Of course I was then sad to discover this new leve still gave poo poo fr seals as a reward, but it was still a pleasant suprise to see a litte variety. I think if they added various leves of GC leves that you had to solo for more seals at higher levels, it would. This in turn would also encourage people to spend more time as a class and use the nifty new class gear, as opposed to running around all day everyday in AF gear on jobs.

The people complaining are not the people who wanted the different system for DL. I am one of the people who wanted that definite progress, and I am welcoming to the 25k seals. I am just hoping there is no RNG to deal with for the remainder of obtaining the weapon.

This game me an interesting idea that popped into my head to help assist with pickup groups.

For 2.0 it would be neat if perhaps players could be given a "Strategy guide" that they could set to Private, specific players, or party. When leader makes the pickup group rather then having to go through the tedious experience of explaining it they could tell the member to take a look at their "Strategy Guide" under the -Garuda Strategy- and basically it would be a write up of their own doing which could explain each classes role and what to keep an eye on during the battle. That way when a pickup party is being formed, while people are waiting they can read up on the person's guide so they know what to do rather then go in blindly or have it explained in long detail before starting. At the same time it would save others the trouble of having to search the web if they happen to be playing on full screen or ps3 when it comes out.

XIV community in a nutshell.

What Gospel said is correct about the FFXIV community. The reasoning is some people have poor reading comprehension and other have good reading comprehension. Some people understand how game mechanics works, while others don't. And in some cases both sides are wrong. In this case people haven't been keeping up to date on everything Yoshi had said about the weapons.

He has stated:
1. The AF weapons will be powerful.
2. Since they will be powerful they will be hard to obtain.
3. There will be upgrades for the AF weapons.
4. These upgrades will be released alongside the quest to obtain the AF weapon.
5. There will also be upgrades for the weapons to make them viable when new content comes out.

Now read this and analyze the situation. If you are unable to use analysis let me explain it to everyone, but first let me ask you guys a question. What other Weapons in an MMO had this type structure for obtaining? Answer: Relic weapons, Empyrean weapons, and Nyzul Isle weapons from FFXI. The structure of what we know so far seem relatively similar to the Empyrean weapons though. There will be an initial weapon to obtain that most likely will not be too difficult to obtain. For those players who want it to look nice then they can get it with some work. Now once that weapon is obtained then you will have to work hard to get the upgraded versions which will be better.

This content focuses on both the casual players who do not really care too much about stats and numbers, while also catering to the more hardcore players that enjoy working to optimize their overall performance. 25k seals does not take long at all to get, just make a friend and learn how to do the 5 chest toto-rak run. For those of you who don't want a "relic" to be in the game you are out of luck because Yoshi specifically said that he wants all types of players to enjoy this game. All types of players meaning hardcore players as well who actually have the time and motivation to obtain a weapon that most people cannot.

I agree with you for the most part, but you can't blame any of us for having our doubts. He also stated that AF gear was not easy to get and was equivalent to double/triple melded gear (not really true in most cases).

They can make them as hard to obtain as they want...this is not hard it is tedious and stupid. It reminds me of that magian trial crap in FFXI that killed the game for me and a ton of my friends. It is not hard to spam toto rak over and over, hamlet defense isn't that hard either. It is just extremely boring and a test of patience. SE needs to stop confusing hard and challenging with boring and tedious.

All of this QQing and we don't even know the stats of the weapons yet. If they are as good as one of the above posters suggests, then I'm sure we will be fine with the requirements. BUT, if they aren't good, many of us (myself included) will be very disappointed. Only time will tell...
