I'm just glad that the genuine article showed up. The diet Kisai shtick that OP was trying to pull had gotten a bit stale.
That's how you do genuine willful ignorance and raider demonizing, everybody.
Something tells me that dps was not something like a drg. You are not going to keep agro with a i310 wep if a drg has i360 unless they are super nice and use diversion, elusive jump, or have a ninja tossing band aids on the situation. I can very easily pull hate off tanks in dps stance. Do it all the damn time. And I can do it with tanks that can and do savage content so it is not about skill.
Regarding FFLogs I believe it should be opt-in. Not opt-out. You actually have to register with the site to hide yourself from it. And i generally think it should work the opposite way. You should be hidden by default unless you register and opt-in.
There's been a few conversations going around about it breaching the new data protection and privacy laws that have been all over the news because it displays player information without there consent. How accurate that is i dunno I'm not a lawyer. But I do believe it should be an opt-in thing not an opt-out.
The data FFLogs has is the same data you can find publicly on the Lodestone—character name, server, jobs leveled to 70, and FC/Guild name, if applicable. I don’t think any of that would fall under data or privacy protection, since they’re available publicly elsewhere to start. And they aren’t exactly personal or sensitive in nature the way email address, real names, mailing/business addresses, and other personally identifying information are.
Hello. I’m an i368 BiS BRD that has ripped off of good tanks in current tank BiS (with and without a DRG in the party) while actively rotating my enmity dumps. I have also ripped off of lesser geared tanks sitting in their tank stance while doing the same thing...and then later on again when I have nothing to use. I may not be an orange-tier BRD, but I think I know my job well enough to say I’m fairly decent at it. At the least, I know well enough that I have netted 10k, 11k, and almost 12k openers if RNG is kind enough.
I don’t think you could hold aggro off of a decently geared and decently parsing DPS in i310 even if you were sitting in your tank stance, much less if you switched to DPS stance. Something tells me that those “high parsing dpsers” you had probably weren’t parsing that high.
Nope.
Individual player consent in this case doesn't exist nor is it required. All of FFXIV belongs to SE and they are the only ones who do the consenting. Players have no say because none of FFXIV belongs to them not even the data on how much damage they do when they play.
As for opt-in instead of out thing, me personally I don't mind if they changed it, because they could simply make everyone Anonymous and still use the data to pool accurate statistics you just won't know who the player is if they haven't opted in, but you'd have to convince fflogs creator to do this.
But, in the end I also don't feel it is very hard to simply sign up for the site and hide the logs, it doesn't take much effort or time really.
Wrong, arrogant, misinformed, ignorant, stubborn. There are plenty of adjectives fitting this sentence, "right" is certainly not among them.
An absence of parsers isn't going to make Sigma Normal suddenly challenging. You conveniently keep ignoring the aforementioned the Phantom Train example. If both healers primarily heal, one of them will be objectively useless. The fight simply doesn't do enough damage to warrant two healers. A parser, or lack thereof, wouldn't change that. In fact, nobody even cares to run parsers for stuff like this because they're entirely brain dead. But please, example how I can have six vulnerability stacks against the first boss of Hell's Lid and still not even take 50% damage from his "tank buster." Or how about Chadarnook Normal, where I elect not to go into the plane yet survive with half my health. How would deleting parsers from the game change how laughably insignificant those mechanics are? They aren't going to magically become more threatening.
How about Alte Roite Savage? The boss hardcore raiders downed in two pulls or less. He was so pathetically easy for a Savage fight even casual groups took a single lockout to kill him. This is before triggers, Cactbot or any of the actual tools you keep incorrectly referring to were even available. People can't make timelines or triggers for a fight they don't even know. He was just that damn easy.
Threads like these are why I always come to the OF to popcorn while waiting for my code to run.
Isn't it wonderful? You see certain threads and you just know...
