SAM out classing all other DPS

I have no idea why you are using pre-70 parses with a really low sample count to boot as a comparison of which job parses higher. Pre max level parses hold no weight and adding to the fact that you're making comparisons while not having access to the entire jobs kit. It literally does not matter until you're max level. You aren't going to parse higher than a SAM unless you outgear him or the SAM is terrible, end of story.

Everyone needs to realize we are always talking about a team of 4-5 DPS. Not everyone is competing for every spot. SAM has the highest built-in DPS, but this is a good thing for the supporter DPS classes with strong buffs, because SAMs are the best target for those buffs, the biggest force multipliers. So a DRG with a SAM is, for example, a better combo than a DRG with a MCH because the added DPS by the dragoons buffs are just better.

And so on. Basically, SAM fits in a specific spot in setups as the "golden child" DPS that you put your buffs on, but there is really only ONE such spot, and its existence is due to the fact that other DPS can buff the golden child so well.

Most likely a maxed out midare setsuga DH crit.

Foul can crit for 30k so its not out there.

That was s buffed Sam. Sam hit the hardest, but have see Blm do multiple 20'-25k hits in a row, but also only when buffed.

There will only be Sam on the top 20-30 spots with an occasional Blm if the fight consists of aoe-phases and does not have a Sam in the party hogging all the buffs.

Which is actually good, I\\\\\\\\'m against FFLOGS in general. But it used to be a somewhat good inducator that the classes where we\\\\\\\\'ll balanced, when looking at WOWLOGS and such. Where one or two classes would dominat those logs. Even if the other FFXIV classes are more "support".

On that note, back to my original question, without buffs, can a Blm compete with Sam dps, if Blm are a "little" proc lucky? Unlike with Mnk in 3.0, where BLM needed to be very (!) proc lucky to compete.

Having played a bit of SAM, but having DRG as my current main, I would like to make a comment on this. Sure, SAM has incredible DPS, but that doesn't make the other DD classes useless. If I were in a 4 man run and had SAM as the second DD, I could realistically buff SAM even further damage wise, while also dishing out my own (See Battle Litany and Dragon Sight). I say this because at the moment Dragon Sight is one of those buffs that is hard to maintain for numerous reasons. So having another melee DD always nearby my target is immensely beneficial to me. That goes the same for any other melee class yes, but if SAM can top out the DD, SAM is going to be my preferred chained ally. My only gripe with these changes to DRG is that it's difficult to weave all these buffs in while maintaining BOTD, but that's a matter of me not waiting for it to come off CD as a backup to maintain it before applying buffs.

the real question people have to ask is what will be the optimal group setup. Also, if that optimal setup ends up being 4sam or 3sam+1support dps, how fast will they nerf sam. i could realistically see 2sam/1blm/1brd as the standard raiding comp with how much stronger sam is than all the other dps classes.

SAM is strong but aside from everything, that's all SAM offers to a group is it's damage potential. The other DPS jobs have numerous utilities to support the group. It is too early for me to tell, but raw damage over mechanics and synergy with other jobs may not be an A+ strategy in certain cases. In the event that it does happen, SE will just buff the other DPS jobs that aren't being chosen for raid content. It's a never ending new meta in FFXIV.

That's a problem too. Already in "fast farm pfs" some classes are restricted, like Blm. Blm have already been secluded from such pfs in favor for Sam and other buff-dps, like drg or rdm. Having 4 Sam just might be meta xD.

Besides having one dps stand out so much will, also on fflogs, will make too many aim for Sam or flock over to it.

In the past Mnk was top dps, but not by such a big margin, with other many dps being able to compte or surpass it, depending on the comp or fight. Meaning the dps classes were very heterogeneous. Just with Drg and one ranged often in comps.

Btw how do mnk compete in 8 man raids, with no casters in the group? Brotherhood-wise.

Do you mean with only casters? Brotherhood would likely affect the tanks, so you would get chakras opened through them, but of course since their dps isn't super high, the damage bonus to them would only raise dps by a smaller amount than if you had more melee dps.
