Losing hope of ever getting the rest of the Weeping City gear for monk. :/ I'm finally around ilvl 190 on her, but I don't want to run content with my left over pieces of level 50 (yes, level 50) gear, so I've been trying really hard to get the head piece, gloves, and pants from Weeping. One run, I asked if I could have the items before we started the raid, and the monk in the group said they needed (yes, NEEDED) the pants--they were wearing the 260 Shire pants. Said they also need the gloves--was wearing 250 Prototype gloves.
The last run, the head piece and pants dropped, and again, everyone said they would pass on them and I was super happy. Instead, the tank rolled on them, and won them because, of course, I would roll a 23 and a 29. TT^TT I was told instead to get lore gear and "gear up like the rest of us did" by one of the DPS, but I'm also working on my 240 DRK anima, and using my lore for umbrites (since there is literally no other way to get them), and I would rather get the Weeping gear anyways. I can't run WC on my monk since she doesn't meet the ilvl or gear requirements (hence why I'm trying to gear up so I can do content with her).
I guess I'll just have to run Midas and try for the old 220 prototype gear, but I really just wanted to get those three pieces of Weeping gear... it's just really frustrating... -

Did have a run of The Chrysalis that was interesting... Loaded into an in progress, did the usual "Hi ^^ what happened?" and they said they wiped a coupla times cause mostly new and everyone left. Apologised that I couldn't give many tips as I barely remember the fight (usually just over so quickly!) but that I thought you needed to save LB for the tear when that appears.
So it's all going ok. Apart from someone keeps saying "save LB" - "don't use LB" - was a little confused but maybe they noticed someone start to use it? Anyway, despite being told at the start and about 6 times up to the meteors... a mnk used LB3 right before we went into the "rift" bit... and missed.
It would have been hilarious if I wasn't so tired by that point D:
Anyway, somehow by everyone focusing the tear we get out with only a few casualties, I rez a DRG and the other healer says "not raising that mnk. he can stay dead" and tbh after multiple raises and healing due to people being new (not holding that against them) I was lower on MP than I would have liked so I agreed and left them hugging the floor. Sigh. Unfortunately I think they were happy to be carried >.< -

Ecstatic that for once in my life I was the only BRD, I could hear my calling, my people needed me. I happily exclaimed this in chat, the casters were also happy about this. We pull, I sing, all goes well until she spawns the adds. Because our DPS was so OP as soon as the adds appeared she immediately did diamond dust killing me and my people (SMN/BLM). So I've spent these past couple of weeks learning how to tank A8 as PLD. When I first started, I was using the ilvl 200 Eso weapon, no upgrades because I'm lazy. But I've managed to hold aggro from DPS with ilvl 240 weapons in Sohr Khai and Hullbreaker Isle HM before. Now I have the upgraded lore weapon for PLD, so it's easier.
Of course I'm not the best tank, PLD is hardly my main. But having played all 3 healer jobs to 60, I do believe I have a fairly decent grasp of how aggro works, as well as how regen buffs generate aggro. So that being said, if a WHM decides to pop Medica II/Asylum, and especially if an AST decides to throw up Collective Unconscious, while Brute Justice is spawning, they will get aggro, and there will be nothing I can do about it.
I can Provoke and Shield Lob all I want, I will not get aggro. Especially if the healer in question then decides to run around like a headless chicken, therefore leading the boss on a little jog, so I can't use my close-range aggro skills. Especially especially if I happen to be paralysed, and half my actions are being interrupted.
Have I, as a tank, screwed up horribly and led to deaths and wipes before? Yes, of course I have. Incorrectly identifying Blaster's AoE is fairly hazardous, and I've killed people with that mistake. But I will make active steps to rectify that mistake and improve.
Even so, there are some things I simply cannot do, and keeping aggro off a healer who keeps spamming regens when a new boss is just spawning, giving me no time to even attempt to build aggro, is one of them. Being told "never had that problem while i was tanking" doesn't help. Nor does calling my playing "shitty tanking", nor does being told never to queue as PLD ever again, by condescending little brats.
I know it's popular to blame the tank these days and treat healers as precious little angels who can do no wrong even when they actively make things more difficult for an already-struggling tank, for the sake of their convenience, but once again, as someone who has played all 3 healer jobs to 60, healers need to get their heads out of their asses. -

Without being in that exact same fight and seeing what the AST was doing, I can't judge if Siesta Fiesta was being a bad tank or not but I don't doubt for a second a stupid healer can take hate off a main tank by playing excessively poorly once Brute Justice says hi. -

What I'm annoyed about is how tanks, not just in A8, but elsewhere, get endlessly blamed for things that are out of their control, even when they're legitimately trying their best, while people will bend over backwards to accomodate a lazy or bad healer.
I have all 3 roles at 60 and play them regularly. I've been on every side of a fight gone wrong, seen how any role can screw up a mechanic. I've seen healers get blamed for tank failures, I've been the healer getting blamed for tank failures, but what seems far more common is tanks getting blamed for DPS/healer failures, if they are failures. I once had a party kick me after we wiped because I pulled when the SCH was AFK. Funny part about that: that SCH said absolutely nothing about going AFK. -

After reading about this a8 stuff, and speaking of healer aggro, I'd like to ask for some advice in a12.
I usually tank all of Creator because I enjoy it. And I have had no issues with aggro thus far, but there is something I notice. During the add phase, I know both tanks are taking damage from the adds, and I know when the winged adds show up and fire off their almost Holies, there's a lot of medica II/aspected Helios regens flying around. I've also noticed healers like to throw down their bubbles during the tank lb3 mechanic to help mitigate more damage/allow for some HP regen before Alex Prime plops back into the arena.
Usually after all of this, he will land, and I will notice the healers are usually second or third on the aggro list. Usually if an AST tosses up their Collective Unconscious, they appear to almost be about to rip hate. I'm sure this is from where, while untargetable, Alex is still there and the regens and heals are still generating some healer aggro on him while the tanks are unable to target him and build their own aggro against him until he respawns. I have watched WHM usually pop Shroud around here to dump their aggro and regen some MP to prepare for the rest of the fight, and I don't notice SCH typically having issues with their healer aggro here. So what can ASTs do to sort of watch their healer aggro? Genuinely curious about this. :3
Sorry if it kind of derails from the topic of the thread--I don't necessarily think it does because I've encountered it a lot in my DF runs of a12, and it seems to occur even if I am not MT (because I was thinking I was doing something wrong maybe--especially since a BLM in a party I had was perfectly happy attacking my tanking skills after I brought this up to the very CU-happy AST in the party). -

Just keep an eye on the enmity meters and if need be I'd say prime up to the second part of the enmity combo then Provoke into the 2nd hit followed by the third hit of the combo. That should be more than enough to secure hate I feel.
[Edit] To answer the AST part, there isn't much they can do if they have to go ham with healing due to "reasons" as AST has no ways to actually shed hate. As an AST, I just rely on the tank to have the situational awareness and hope they don't let the boss clobber me if I do have hate =p -

I know AST do have their enmity mitigation skill Luminous Aether to sort of help reduce the healing hate (which really can't be helped during the add phase because of those Almost Holies flying around), and I'm also aware the Collective Unconscious is a very powerful HoT. This AST really liked their bubble because they seemed to use it every time it was off cooldown (even during the 4-man stack during Aggravated Assault). Don't get me wrong, I love the AST bubble! I just wonder if they were using it a bit too much. While I have the hyperconductive anima weapon (working on 240 now), I know that it is hardly the best weapon to be used for DRK. :p Just the stats for the 250 weapon (parry why no parry please) aren't ideal for me, plus I am le poor so I can't afford the 4mil people on my server want for it. XD -

Got out of a group in a12
COULD NOT stack for temporal stasis. I put up a waymark. I explained mechanics. Nope, still killing each other. I raised my "co-healer" after each and every one until I was out of mana. I was basically solo-healing hardly able to stay alive. The tanks kept losing hate, turning the boss, cleaving the group. So many DPS were dead I had to do the check as a SCH (which was actually a nice break). I carried as hard as I could.
We wiped at 1% to ENRAGE. I didn't even know that fight HAD an enrage.

I finished with dungeon wide DPS as SMN at 1600, next highest was my static mate at 700 as AST, the BRD at 500, and PLD at 300.
Wish I could AFK for 50% of the boss fights, too! (I also tanked final boss until Behemoth spawned. Yes, the tank was still alive and I used Quelling.) -

Did PotD 41-50 earlier. Party was myself (SMN), PLD, WAR, SCH. We go in and they pull one mob at a time the whole run. At one point we had a room full of mobs and a full LB, so I said, "Pull them all and I'll LB." Still one at a time. The cherry on top was them both being in DPS stances and I had hate the whole time. Two tanks, neither had hate.

With all that was going on I couldn't even tell what the Tank was doing as my focus was on staying alive. But I managed to keep us all alive without anyone dying!
While that was stressful to go through, I do kinda feel good that I managed to keep things going. -

Also, one of the monks in our alliance got to tank the Dahak during Forgall. Because idk what our tank was doing. I think they were fighting B tank for the succubus. Why????????? T^T
But, also when you run VA with another AST, and you both coordinate your AOE Arrows/Balances to where the party is buffed 90% of the boss fight. <3 -

I'm not sure if it was "I was too focused on DPSing so the arcanist picked up my slack" or "arcanist and I had different 'time to heal' thresholds" (I think it was more of the latter), but it was still really weird. -

One of the first times I ever tanked Wiping Shitty, we wiped to Forgall because A's tank cleaved everybody with Dahak. As C's tank, I went for Haagenti, so c'est la vie. So we went back and tried again. A's tank said nothing about the wipe, or the adds. Absolutely nothing, when they had plenty of opportunity to say something. I mistakenly assumed that this was because their alliance had informed them of the mechanics, in party chat, which I was naturally not privy to, and that they were now properly prepared to tank the Dahak.
Come adds time, I go for Haagenti again, as is my lot as C's tank, and suddenly I find myself fighting for aggro with A's tank on it. Meanwhile, Dahak is about as happy as a bull with ADHD in a china store, with nothing to occupy its attention. I suppose A's tank must have tried to send me a telepathic long-distance message, telling me to switch adds with them, but unfortunately, I couldn't afford the tuition for Psychic University, and so I never got my Telepathy degree. Thankfully, B's tank was nice enough to pick up Dahak after Succubus died, so we pulled through.
In celebration of this success, the melee DPS shortly afterwards decided to gift me with 3 lovely stacks of vulnerability up, while I was tanking Forgall. 'Twas most thoughtful of them."
