gently swinging back and forth... i love this. Also what about a way to remove the default fence.

Can you please, PLEASE, adjust the furnishing binds? Currently the most expensive items you can have in your house break if you remove them. The problem is that if you ever want to upgrade your house, or move to a different zone these items, unlike normal housing items, break and render you unable to use them at the new house. I understand these items are supposed to be rare and harder to get but if I'm spending 2-5mil each for once surely it makes sense that if I want to get a better house I should be able to take it with me. For me personally I really want to upgrade to a bigger house but I cannot unless I kiss away 15mil worth of items. Surely a "bind to player" system would be more efficient than a "bind to plot"? All the other housing items bind to player to prevent resale which is fine, but I can't wrap my head around why the more expensive items have this in place.
If it can't be changed can we please at least get a reason why it has to be this way?
It was explained before that it's an effort to keep these products as something special and rare. Personally, I just think it makes them annoying to own.
This...
My FC likes to change things up every so often. But we are small and can not afford to be re-crafting things like any EX Primal piece if we decide that we want to stick it in the bank for a while. We really wantted to make a more "holiday-esque" yard set up but we can't because we can't remove our Levi Fountain.
On that note.... I want HOLIDAY housing items. I want to decorate my house (and my FC house) for the holidays. Can we get a Holiday "Fixtures"? Christmas Lights? Spooky Decorations? Snow on the eves? Eggs hidden around the house? I am sure the artists could figure something out for each holiday. I love Holiday stuff, and I think Housing should be a MAJOR part of what makes holidays great in XIV.
PS: If there is no Christmas Trees from each city (inside at least, but outside too would be preferred) I am going to scream loudly over the internet.
Please please let us have partitions that match the current wall options. The walls are all great but it's either them or partitioned housing space (or stupidly looking mix) and I really don't understand why this still hasn't changed. It has been requested over and over just like the option to preview your furniture without actually placing and binding it (since until you place it, the colors are off) + ability to preview dyes on furniture. Especially now, that we have more rare dyes some of which can also be applied on furniture, I'd really like to be able to preview them.
One new thing I'd love to own are curtains I could put on my walls to make the place more cozy. Both open spread ones and tied ones I could put next to my windows etc.
Next I'd like to say I really love rugs. However, the current options can be hard to match color-wise. Could we have some plain rugs that are dyable? In several sizes like those of doormat, riviera rug and perhaps some small round ones as well.
Hammock is such a nice idea! I have always wanted to have a swing seat in the garden, but a hammock would be nice as well.
A couple of my requests.
Please make the metallic dyes useable for housing exterior, gold or silver would be so appropriate for Uldah!
The ability to preview dyes on exterior items, and a "try on" feature where you can see the furniture in it's full size in front of you, just you won't be able to place it.
I'd also like to see a small cage or jail cell of some sort, something like the large cages with auto opening doors you find around Eorzea but scaled down.
Also seconding a suggestion I saw earlier, please change the /doze mithra have when on a bed to something a bit more, sleepy? Why can't we just have the way mithra sleep on the inn room beds?
Perhaps a way to deal with the rare items that people are afraid of losing if redecorating, give houses some kind of hidden storage, like a closet. You can move items there you don't want out, so they're not visible in the house, but you don't lose them either, and then bring them back out when you want them on display again.
Also, yes please on the holiday decorations/roof!
Yes please!
1. In FFXI, they always offered housing items from the seasonal events that have the same theme as the decorations used around town during the event. It would be great to have crafting choices to make the housing items used in seasonal events. I see so many seasonal things decorating the town that would be lovely in housing.
2. Can we please have access to craft-able housing items in the Japanese theme of the current NIN storehouse guild and/or other Japanese styled housing fixtures? I like that it is plain and minimalistic but gorgeous. The slide wall/doors/dividers and floor panels, the shrine plants, the bonsai, the outside house fixtures..all of it! I am not sure if they have this already so if they do, my apologies for redundant posting. I would enjoy crafting an entire house with that guild's style.
Note: Sorry, if I used the inaccurate cultural terms for things as it was unintentional, architecture is not my field.
We have Carbuncle stuff for summoners, but no fairy stuff for scholars? Please consider adding some - eos/selene motiffs, small beds (since they are humanoid, bonus points if they can actually sleep in those), etc.
I second or third or whatever to the idea of Christmas trees and other decorations for houses! I love Christmas decorations and would love to have a Christmas tree in our FC's housing! >w<
It would be nice if we could have a carpeted floor option preferably one you could dye. Solid walls that are dyable too would be nice as well.
Also, could the interior vendors we hire please have nicer clothes? It looks like i have a bunch of hobo squatters in my house.
It would be nice if the chocobo stable didn't deteriorate over time, I hate the shabby of the messy straw! Could it be changed so that the stable deteriorated with uses instead?
Additional Resources Under Existing System
- Partitions with matching wallpaper
- More liquor furniture; whisky, beer, wine glass, rock glass, beer mug, etc
- Title: "The Drunken One" for finishing 1000 stacks of liquors
- Pool table (another mini game, maybe?)
- Tatami flooring
- More Eastern furniture; wall scroll, ninja tools wall mount, samurai armor stand, etc
- More chocobo-theme furnitures
Ideas Outside Of Existing System
- Ability to dim / switch off lighting
- Ability to place a door / doorway on partitions
- More preset appearance for retainers
- Create food furniture with debuff effect, example:
Whisky
Increase Skill Speed, Vit, Critical
Decrease Accuracy- Ability to save housing layout offline like we can with hud settings
Ideas Developers Mentioned Before But Not Yet Implemented
- Minions roaming freely in housing
Maybe not the entire house, but perhaps we can get a playground furniture (or just invisible square) where they can only roam within the item's area.- Jukebox
- Collectable Soundtracks
- Mini gil sink; 10 or 100 gil to play any collected sountrack once
- Possible guest permission on jukebox at a later date
Regarding the jukebox (incoming wall of text):
I believe Yoshi-P sama mentioned about this before fc housing was released. If memory serve me right, some copyright issues was the biggest problem preventing them from implementing this.
Assuming SE can handled that, I propose we start with a jukebox with basic functions. Probably just start off with a basic list of soundtracks such as the town and events BGM, then additional like primals BGM can be collected by doing contents. Nothing that will drive a player insane like the 1/8% primal pony drop rate of the past, or gating BGM like Answers behind t13 clearance, or camping for hours for a specific weather like the sight seeing log.
I'm proposing for something that can be done/collected at a leisure rate, maybe events BGM from doing events, purchasing some common BGM like fat choco BGM from npc for 50 or 100k gil, primals BGM from rowena tokens, or 10% drop rate from slaying said primal. To top it off, it can even be set up as a mini gil sink, 10 or 100 gil to play a soundtrack once, similar to how a jukebox in the olden days does. We can work something like giving guest the permission to use the jukebox on a later date.
With this, it's possible to add more content, sink a tiny amount of gil, and give the players something we want at the same time. What does the rest of you think about this?
I'm cool as long as I get my jukebox and whisky furnitures
Will they allow us to add more than 2 NPC's to a small house with the implementation of this?
Sigh, I wish we'd have seen some comments on the reservations and comments we made on this potential addition.
How about using some of that "Housing" dev time to fix it so the Gardening UI can show the cooldown on Fertilize? The Chocobo menu has an easy to see Cooldown. The retainer menus show how long til a venture is complete, can we get a timer on Fertilize please?
I get around this by timing my hourly activities together: feed chocobo its krakka, fertilise+tend plants, claim/re-assign retainers' quick ventures. By looking at my venture timers, I can now see roughly when I need to get back to the house to rinse and repeat.
One garden related thing I REALLY want however is more detailed chat log records.
I plant 8 things in my plot, 4 of one and 4 of another in an alternating pattern. This is what I see when I fertilise and tend them:
[13:54]Almonds
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Almonds
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]This crop is doing well.
[13:54]Mandrake
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Mandrake
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]This crop is doing well.
Etc.
What I really want is something more like this:
I highlighted the changes just to be clear.
[13:54]Almonds in 1st Bed, 1st Patch (copied directly from the tending interface)
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Almonds in 1st Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You water this crop and it is now doing well.
[13:54]Mandrake in 2nd Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Mandrake in 2nd Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You water this crop and it is now doing well.
[13:54]Almonds in 3rd Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Almonds in 3rd Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You water this crop and it is now doing well.
[13:54]Mandrake in 4th Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You fertilize the crop.
[13:54]Mandrake in 4th Bed, 1st Patch
This crop is doing well.
[13:54]You water this crop and it is now doing well.
Etc.
The bed data is already accessible when right clicking on the plant and it would make it so much easier to keep track... So many times I've been distracted or called away mid tending and have no idea what plant I was up to so had to go through them again one by one to see which hadn't yet been fertilised and then go back to the one before and water it just to make sure it was.
Why dont like just add the bait to the current npcs instead of having to buy another npc to fill a extra slot in the house.
I'm sure it has been said before but I hope a dye preview for furnishings will be available the same way it exists for gear. Also, it would be fantastic if we could dye furniture white. Snow white dye turns most furniture a dismal gray instead.
Any words regarding a jukebox? :x
Can we have a garden storage where we can store all the soils and seeds? ^^
The scarecrow of the Deluxe Garden Patch could be this garden storage
It'd be nice if we could lay down on couches.
I think I remember them saying that we could have our minions walk around the house sort of maybe like a pet kinda thing any word on this?
Would like a "magic door" (it can be the front door) that allows me to go from my house to my FC chamber and back.
Kind of like the door in Howl's Moving Castle that opens to various locations depending on the "dial".
