An experienced group spamming dungeons takes no skill either and is really not that much different than crafting other than it takes longer to do - but Darklight is better than all but the high lvl triple or qaud-melded gear, so time invested = appropriate reward.

Why not make dungeon gear meldable and then add "epic" recipes to crafters. I never got why crafter + 5 meld gear would be better then a RELIC. Less better than more similar / comparable to opportunities.

(This happens sometimes already but it isnt quite maintained in the system)

Just curious, how many 5 melded endgame items have you seen? (and i'm not talking about crap-melds for the crown either)

You talk as though 5-melds are as common, well... RELICS.

I just picked the highest end number :P - and the quest is at fault for relics not the idea of relics. They arent called relics because they are supposed to be easily thought replaceable.

I would prefer more comparables not more "better thans"

I have yet to see or hear of a multi-melded weapon that beats a relic. And before the save, I saw relics everywhere on my server.

I think melding is where it should be in relation to other items (although, I have no issue with the proposed changes)

Many people have argued it IS broken because it means you can end up with 4 stacks of the same materia for them having different stats. If they were to keep it the way it is now, they should at least name them tier I through XVI for clarity. Revised system = less inventory space devoted to materia. I think anyone with a 200/200 bag and dozens of different materia would beg to differ with your opinion.

I saw a 100 int +1 lighting wand XD (20 int * 5) once.. Pretty sure that was insane luck or the most painful grind ever.

1% meld chance.. -_-

Also I want crafting to have more compareables - not saying relic should be out classed but it shouldnt be "the" weapon it should be one of "the" weapons in which they all have different means of acquiring but similar difficulties.

A lightning wand +1 with +100 INT is STILL not better than the relic (at least in 1.0) due to caps.

Sure, it makes reaching the cap easier with other gear, but the other benefits to the Stardust rod blow it out of the water.

I think I was trying to hit multiple points at once and failed in conveying that message.

Some people where saying X melds = better then dungeon gear. I was trying to say lets not have melds make melds a factor of crafting gear (by letting dungeon gear hold melds - I guess similar to a system I described long ago in a materia thread)

Then give crafters "epic" recipies - the point being to make more compareable gears and less y is better then X at Z point (in case of relics there is nothing compareable lol - they should be badass, but options (compareables) would be appreciated).

Leveling all crafts to 50 is a challenge and required a bunch of effort. But that doesn't mean when you click the button instead of praying you should have a guaranteed result. It would make melding useless as everyone would have high tier double/triple melded gear. The live letter mentioned they are improving the success rate, which is the right thing to do. But it will be a minimal increase. It's not like SE is going to apply a 80% success rate to a double meld.

Again it's your choice to meld and potentially lose your items. Each time you attempt it it's a roll of the dice. Accept it, or buy it off the wards. RNG in this case is probably the most equitable system for this content.


Even quad melded gear doesn't compare to relics. Or it won't once stats are adjusted.
